5 surprises that could happen on SmackDown after the draft- The Fiend's next victim, Big return?

Everything is bound to change after the recently concluded draft!
Everything is bound to change after the recently concluded draft!

I know that certain shows were dubbed as Season Premieres before this, but honestly, this is when a new era of SmackDown truly begins. The roster has been split down the middle and we're going to see some brand new feuds in the coming months.

With that in mind, let's have a look at what surprises Vince McMahon could potentially book to bring back the massive audience he lost from Week 1 to Week 2, after the recent move to FOX. Eric Bischoff is no longer at the helm of things and we'll have to wonder what changes Bruce Prichard could potentially bring to the mix.

Whether or not you liked the draft, we'll have to live with it, as weekly consumers of the WWE product. And truth be told, there are so many exciting matchups that could emerge from the way that the rosters have lined up.

I do believe that this week should give us a glimpse of the programs we could potentially see.

#5 The Fiend goes after Luke Harper

I know that The Fiend and Seth Rollins are on a collision course for Saudi Arabia, but the fact of the matter is that the two men are on different brands, meaning that The Fiend will have to kickstart a brand new rivalry on the Blue brand. Who better than Luke Harper for a role like this considering that he's on the Blue brand while Rowan has been transferred to Monday Night RAW.

Harper is someone who's been very public and very vocal about his issues with the company. and WWE will want to keep him happy because he is a very good hand. A feud against Bray Wyatt, a man with whom he has a readymade storyline, could just be what the doctor ordered!

#4 John Morrison returns to confront The Miz

Rarely is there smoke without fire and all of the rumors surrounding John Morrison's return to WWE must have some element of truth to them, for them to have become as viral as they did. Maybe he will be brought in to spruce up the SmackDown roster, especially to add firepower to the mid-card now that a lot of valuable players have gone over to the Red brand. One of the things that he could certainly do upon his arrival is confronting The Miz.

It just feels like The Miz has lost a lot of his appeal ever since he became a babyface, and is hardly the same guy who cut that scathing promo on Daniel Bryan on WWE Talking Smack. Now he's a part of the Blue brand and I can totally imagine him getting lost in the mix again unless he's pushed into a feud that forces him to turn heel. Morrison will be an instant babyface upon his arrival and he can definitely be the guy who pushes The Miz to go heel again.

As much as we love The Miz, we all love to hate him a lot more, do we not?

#3 Heavy Machinery challenges The Revival for the titles

The Revival seemed like they would be pushed to the top of the mountain again when they were paired with Randy Orton as a trio. And then again, during the draft, they have ended up on two separate brands for no rhyme or reason.

But the 'Top Guys' still hold the SmackDown Tag Team Championships and I do believe they'll be baying for new blood to introduce the world to their brand of tag team wrestling, in the days that will follow. Heavy Machinery is certainly a very strong team that could go on to have a great feud with Dash and Dawson almost immediately.

Believe it or not, they are immensely over with the WWE Universe and while they are big guys, they have not been portrayed as monsters, so they do not go out as immediate favorites against the wily tag team tactics of The Revival. And because of this, they could certainly have a very interesting program with The Revival.

I certainly cannot fathom any other serious tag team contenders against The Revival, at least on the Blue brand, at this point. It is probably Heavy Machinery's time!

#2 Carmella steps up to Bayley

Believe it or not, Carmella and R-Truth have been separated and while this does not mean that they won't be a part of the 24/7 Championship picture, going forward, I do think it means that we're going to see a far more serious Carmella in the weeks that follow. Carmella and Bayley, in particular, have history, having come up from NXT together and they could put on a great program for the SmackDown Women's Championship. Carmella is a much more improved performer than she once was, and can be seen as a viable contender, going forward.

Bayley has a great new look too and she is the opposite of what we believed she would be portrayed as once she came to the main WWE roster. Who would have believed that in 2019, there would potentially be a babyface Carmella who was over with the fans as well, thanks to her awesome chemistry with R-Truth taking on a heel Bayley, who had supremely harsh words for the audience after she embraced her dark side? This is a very real possibility and one that I fully expect to play out now that the rosters have been separated.

#1 Braun Strowman and Cain Velasquez have an interaction

On the one hand, you have someone like Cain Velasquez who is on course to take on the most dominant Champion in the WWE roster- 'The Beast Incarnate' Brock Lesnar. And on the other, boxing Champion Tyson Fury is gunning for Braun Strowman, a real-life monster of a man.

While these two powerhouses may have different victims in mind, what if Cain Velasquez and Braun Strowman were to exchange a few harsh words in a hallway, laying the groundwork for a match that could potentially happen at WrestleMania 36? Velasquez is training in the Lucha Libre style which should be a fun counterpoint for Braun Strowman's traditional WWE powerhouse style.

With Ronda Rousey nowhere in the picture this year, WWE will want a mainstream name from the UFC to be the company's crossover athlete who could potentially bring new eyeballs to the product. Taking on and potentially defeating someone like Braun Strowman at a stage like WrestleMania will actually help in achieving this, provided that is the actual route WWE wants to go down.

But maybe a glance or a war of words between the two men this week could spark the feud.
