5 things that must happen on WWE RAW, NXT, and SmackDown this week

Will The Usos find themselves in a match at WWE Money in the Bank?
Will The Usos find themselves in a match at WWE Money in the Bank?

WWE booked a match between Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal without much backstory on RAW. The two men had a good contest before Veer and Shanky caused a disqualification. WWE could look to book a rematch between them before Mahal potentially costs McIntyre the Money in the Bank contract.

Ricochet and John Morrison are scheduled to compete in a Falls Count Anywhere match on RAW. The two superstars have already had a couple of good matches over the past few weeks. Sheamus will also make his return to the ring to defend his United States Championship just before MITB.

Karrion Kross nearly got his hands on Johnny Gargano again on WWE NXT. Samoa Joe was quick to step in to ensure that the two men’s encounter did not get ugly.

MSK and LA Knight retained their respective championships at The Great American Match. Meanwhile, Io Shirai and Zoey Stark won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Bayley was forced out of her scheduled WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Bianca Belair due to an injury. Carmella was announced as her replacement during SmackDown.

Liv Morgan, Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura found their place in the women’s and men’s Money in the Bank ladder matches respectively. Who will win the briefcase next Sunday to earn the opportunity of a lifetime?

Take a look at the five things in WWE, that must happen on RAW, NXT, and SmackDown this week.

#5 AJ Styles and Omos must win their respective matches on WWE RAW

The Giant Omos will make his singles debut on WWE RAW this week. Omos is the current RAW Tag Team Champion, but he is yet to compete on his own on television. The massive superstar will go up against Erik on the show.

Meanwhile, AJ Styles will take on Erik’s partner Ivar this week. Styles and Omos are set to defend their RAW Tag Team Championships against The Viking Raiders soon, and these two matches will likely help build towards a big clash.

WWE will be looking to ensure that Omos has a memorable first singles match on RAW. He has already won a title in his first match on WWE TV. Therefore, the creative team should allow the giant to dominate Erik throughout the match and toy around with him before defeating him convincingly.

Meanwhile, Ivar should get a better and longer match against Styles. Ivar must come close to victory before a distraction from Omos allows The Phenomenal One to pick up the win.

Omos and Styles are doing very well together in WWE even though they haven’t competed in too many matches together. Individual victories will allow Styles and Omos to remain dominant ahead of their clash against The Viking Raiders for the RAW Tag Team Championships.

#4 Sheamus must make quick work of Humberto Carrillo on WWE RAW

Sheamus last competed on WWE RAW in May 2021. The United States Champion picked up an injury during the contest, and he has been away from the ring every since.

Sheamus has lost his previous two matches against Humberto Carrillo, and he will be putting his title on the line against the high-flyer this week. Carrillo has become more prominent on RAW once again, and the WWE creative team could be looking to give him a big push in the weeks to come.

While Carrillo deserves to win a top title in WWE sometime soon, Sheamus must defeat him with ease during their upcoming contest. The Celtic Warrior’s title reign hasn’t been too great, and WWE needs to give him some big victories to make things better.

The company could look to allow Sheamus to pick up a tainted victory on RAW, leading to a clash between the two superstars at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

Carrillo never got a chance to qualify for the MITB ladder match, and he could feature on the pay-per-view in a match against The Celtic Warrior.

#3 KUSHIDA must return to attack the members of Diamond Mine on WWE NXT

KUSHIDA had a phenomenal match against Kyle O’Reilly on the June 22nd episode of WWE NXT. After the match, KOR was expectedly attacked by Adam Cole. Right then, Diamond Mine debuted and took out KUSHIDA in the ring.

The NXT Cruiserweight Champion has been away from NXT ever since, and he could make his comeback this week. Roderick Strong has already competed for Diamond Mine in a match, and Tyler Rust could have his first match for the faction this week.

With that in mind, WWE must allow Rust to have a good match and defeat his opponent convincingly. Post-match, KUSHIDA must appear and try to take out all three men of Diamond Mine before getting away.

The angle will help WWE build towards a rivalry between KUSHIDA and Strong or Rust. Diamond Mine will need to take on some big superstars to get ahead, and KUSHIDA could prove to be a great rival for the faction.

Rust could ultimately be the one to defeat the Japanese Superstar for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

#2 Samoa Joe must influence the outcome of the WWE NXT Championship match

Karrion Kross has been leading WWE NXT pretty well as the top champion. Even though he hasn’t had too many matches, he has managed to have some top segments to build himself as a big force on the brand.

Meanwhile, Johnny Gargano believes Kross does not deserve to be the NXT Champion. The two had a face-off at the Great American Bash that got pretty tense. A title match between them was booked for this week.

Samoa Joe has been named the special guest referee for the contest by NXT General Manager William Regal. WWE has booked a great match, and the creative team should use the presence of Joe in the ring to influence the outcome of the contest.

The Samoan Submission Machine will likely enforce the rules all too well during the match. WWE must allow him to get taken down by one competitor, after which he must take out his frustration on the superstar and cost him the match.

It looks like Kross will not be losing the title any time soon. Therefore, Gargano could end up hitting Joe by mistake and incur his wrath. This angle would allow Kross to retain his title without denting Gargano’s credibility.

It will also tease a possible return of the Samoan Submission Machine to the squared circle. The angle could also fuel the tensions between Joe and Kross as the latter will not want anyone to help him pick up a victory.

#1 The Usos must challenge The Mysterios to a match on WWE SmackDown

Rey Mysterio tried to take down Roman Reigns during their match inside Hell in a Cell on WWE SmackDown. After Mysterio was wiped out by Reigns, it looked like no one could defeat him on the Blue brand.

Edge made his return to SmackDown a week later and reignited his rivalry with Reigns. Last week, Edge was helped by Rey and his son to take down Reigns and The Usos.

The Head of the Table must make his intentions of retiring Edge at Money in the Bank clear before turning his attention to Rey and Dominik. Reigns must then lay down a challenge to the SmackDown Tag Team Champions on behalf of The Usos.

WWE has moved the match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship from MITB to next week’s episode of SmackDown. Therefore, the SmackDown Tag Team titles match could fill the void and give fans something big to look forward to.

Jey and Jimmy Uso have finally gotten on the same page and can start working better together as a team. This will allow them a chance to win the titles and make The Bloodline even stronger in WWE.
