5 things that must happen on RAW, NXT, and SmackDown this week

Will two of NXT's most destructive exports come face to face on RAW this week?
Will two of NXT's most destructive exports come face to face on RAW this week?

With NXT appearing on the USA Network and SmackDown moving to Friday nights as well as premiering on the FOX Network, there are a lot of expectations attached to both the brands this week. All of this coupled with Rey Mysterio getting an opportunity for the Universal Championship, we might have one of the most entertaining weeks of pro-wrestling from the company this year!

Since the company is trying its best to get even bigger and edge out all possible competition from the field, there is a lot left to be done to make the product much more refined and interesting for the fans.

Keeping all that in mind, we have come up with 5 things that WWE must do this week to ensure that the product remains rock solid and give the fans something entertaining to look forward to in the coming weeks.

#1 Matt Riddle vs Adam Cole ends in a disqualification

Will Adam Cole be able to outlast an Armbar?
Will Adam Cole be able to outlast an Armbar?

Matt Riddle is no ordinary Superstar, as he has managed to climb up the ladder in NXT much faster than any other Superstar who had little wrestling experience before joining the company.

The Original Bro defeated Killian Dain in a Street Fight last week after their initial match ended in a no-contest when the entire NXT roster broke out into a brawl. While Riddle gave it everything he had against Dain in a closely fought match, he still had enough in the tank to lock on a Fujiwara Armbar, forcing Adam Cole to tap out repeatedly until the rest of The Undisputed Era arrived.

This week, the two men will come face to face in a match for the NXT Championship, and WWE should use this opportunity to build Riddle as the biggest threat to Cole yet. Not only will this help the company have another star player on the developmental brand but also allow them to give their competition a tough time.

The match this week should end in a disqualification so the two can fight their way into the next NXT TakeOver: WarGames which is over a month away. The company must use this opportunity to build the rivalry between these two men as well as possible to get the most out of their popularity and fanbase.

#2 The Four Horsewomen give us a match to remember

Will the women rule the first night of Friday Night SmackDown?
Will the women rule the first night of Friday Night SmackDown?

Friday Night SmackDown will have some of the biggest matches of the season as not only will we see Kevin Owens take on Shane McMahon in a Career vs. Career match, but Brock Lesnar will also return to the brand to challenge for the WWE Championship.

That’s not all as the four women who have transformed the company's Women’s Division will also be present on the blue brand to compete in a huge match.

RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will team up with Charlotte Flair to take on SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks. This could prove to be a great kick-off match for SmackDown on Fox as the women’s roster will be represented by four of the best during the first week.

As Hell in a Cell looms and Becky Lynch already scheduled to battle against Sasha Banks at the event, Charlotte will too be looking for a chance to ensure she gets a match against Bayley for the championship. Keeping all that in mind, WWE must book the match in a way that it ends up being the best possible match consisting of these four women.

#3 Authors of Pain wreak havoc

Akam & Rezar are not here to play anymore
Akam & Rezar are not here to play anymore

This week’s RAW will be one of the most exciting episodes we will get from the show this entire month. Not only will the United States Championship be on the line, but the Universal Championship and the RAW Tag Team titles will also be on the line on Monday night.

Speaking of the RAW Tag Team Championships, champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode will come out this week the defend their belts against SmackDown’s favorite tag team, Heavy Machinery.

While the match is expected to be a blast, there is a threat looming in the tag team division once again, and they could make an appearance this week. The Authors of Pain (AoP) returned to WWE some days ago and have been sending warnings to the entire WWE locker room.

WWE should strike when the iron is hot and use the duo to attack both the teams during the match to send a loud and clear statement to both the brand’s tag team divisions and the entire WWE Universe.

The AoP was one of the most destructive tag teams in WWE but the creatives used them for a comic effect after pairing them with Dave Maverick. Now that we have two more heavyweight tag teams in the form of Heavy Machinery and The Viking Raiders, the company should up the competition on both their brands and shed more spotlight on the competing tag teams.

#4 Shane McMahon performs a death-defying stunt

Shane McMahon and a really tall ladder. What could possibly go wrong?
Shane McMahon and a really tall ladder. What could possibly go wrong?

It’s not often that we get to watch Shane McMahon jump off tall things but whenever he’s presented a chance to do so, he most certainly does not disappoint.

Shane has been having a heated rivalry with Kevin Owens, and has taken over SmackDown in the past year or so. His presence has annoyed many Superstars and Owens has offered to fight him in a match with both men’s careers on the line. However, the match won’t be an ordinary one, as Owens has challenged Shane to a Ladders Match with a briefcase with the stipulations hanging over the ring.

While the rules require the Superstars to climb the ladder to retrieve the briefcase and win the match, it’s pretty obvious that the two men will try to damage each other more than just simply winning the match. This is where the ladder could prove to be a potential weapon, and we could witness both men climb high and deliver some crazy moves to send waves across the WWE Universe.

Shane is famous for his death-defying moves and his jump off Hell in a Cell in 2017 against Owens is still one of the most memorable spots of the event.

Keeping that in mind, WWE must allow Shane to perform yet another crazy maneuver off the top of the ladder to leave a mark on SmackDown’s Fox debut, especially if he is booked to lose the match.

#5 The Fiend sacrifices Rey Mysterio

Rollins could come face to face with not just one but two masked men on RAW this week
Rollins could come face to face with not just one but two masked men on RAW this week

Long before Finn Balor received the tag of being The Extraordinary Man, Rey Mysterio was proving why he’s the most extraordinary athlete in all of pro-wrestling.

Last week on RAW, Mysterio picked up what was arguably his biggest victory since his return to the company and is now set to take on Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship.

From being down and out to coming so close to a Universal Championship belt, Mysterio’s decision for not retiring has definitely borne fruit for the future Hall of Famer.

While it seems like Mysterio will have one of the toughest matches of his careers when he faces Rollins for the first time in a one-on-one match, there is a huge factor that could turn his chances of scoring a win.

The threat of The Fiend looms, and WWE should use the character to attack Mysterio before the end of the match so that it ends in a no-contest. Not only will it allow WWE to protect both Rollins and Mysterio, but also give Wyatt another chance to shine with his Feind gimmick.

This could prove to be even more beneficial for WWE, as some reports are floating the internet that FOX wants Mysterio on SmackDown. The attack could open the doors to Mysterio fleeing from RAW to SmackDown and coming back to the red brand later to face The Fiend at some point.
