5 Things that should happen at NXT TakeOver: Toronto

NXT has lined up a stacked match card for TakeOver: Toronto

The second edition of NXT TakeOver: Toronto is right around and this year's card features five interesting matches, as the superstars of NXT get set to take center stage at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada one night prior to SummerSlam 2019.

TakeOver: Toronto will be headlined by reigning NXT Champion Adam Cole as he prepares to write yet another historic chapter in his rivalry against Johnny Gargano. The two will square off in another Two-out-of-Three-Falls match in the final match of the evening.

On the undercard, Adam Cole's fellow Undisputed Era stablemates Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish will be challenging for the NXT Tag Team Championship and will look to make history by becoming the first-ever three-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

The NXT North American Championship will also be defended on the show, as Velveteen Dream is set to put his title on the line in a Triple Threat against Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne.

Shayna Baszler will also put her NXT Women's Championship on the line against Mia Yim and TakeOver: Toronto will also play host to another women's match as Candice LeRae gets set for a highly awaited match against Io Shirai.

With NXT lining up such a star-studded card for TakeOver: Toronto, here are five things that should happen at the event.

#5 Io Shirai beats Candice LeRae

Having failed to capture the NXT Women's Championship on three different occasions from Shayna Baszler within the past few months, Io Shirai finally turned heel on the 26th June edition of NXT when she attacked her good friend Candice LeRae.

Within the next few weeks, Shirai developed a brand new personality, as she began wearing black leather and eventually challenged LeRae to a match at TakeOver: Toronto. With Shirai developing a new personality in NXT, having her lose to Candice LeRae definitely wouldn't make any sense.

Come TakeOver: Toronto, this will Io Shirai's match to lose.

#4 Shayna Baszler retains the NXT Women's Championship

Shayna Baszler is currently in her second reign as the NXT Women's Champion, having regained the title from Kairi Sane at the first-ever all women's pay-per-view, Evolution.

'The Queen of Spades' went on to defend her title successfully against Kairi Sane at TakeOver: WarGames, Bianca Belair at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, and at TakeOver: New York, Baszler defended her title in a fatal four-way match against Shirai, Belair, and Sane, submitting Belair with a Kirifuda Clutch.

However, in the build-up to TakeOver: Toronto, a brand new title challenger has emerged in the form of Mia Yim and with the NXT Universe in full support of the latter, there is a solid chance that Yim might actually walk out of Toronto as the new NXT Women's Champion.

But, with Shayna Baszler dominating the NXT Women's Division for the past year now, it wouldn't make sense for WWE to take the title off Baszler at this point in time, unless WWE has any plans to bring up 'The Queen of Spades' to the main roster, which seems very unlikely, given how dominant Baszler has been as NXT Women's Champion.

#3 Street Profits bid farewell to NXT

The Street Profits will go head-to-head against Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish
The Street Profits will go head-to-head against Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish

The Street Profits initially inserted themselves into the NXT Tag Team Championship picture when they challenged The Viking Raiders on the 1st May 2019 edition of NXT. Despite a valiant effort at their first shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles, the dynamic duo of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins failed to win the straps due to outside interference from The Forgotten Sons and Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch.

At TakeOver: XXV, The Street Profits won the NXT Tag Team Championships for the very first time in a fatal four-way tag team ladder match also involving The Forgotten Sons, The Viking Raiders, and Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch. After a successful title defense against Burch & Lorcan on NXT, The Street Profits started making occasional appearances on WWE Raw, as they have been involved in various backstage segments.

Despite not being officially called up to the main roster, The Street Profits have been heavily involved on Raw for weeks now and have been highly entertaining as well. Therefore, dropping the NXT Tag Team Titles to Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish in Toronto and bidding farewell to NXT would be the perfect send-off for The Street Profits.

#2 Adam Cole retains

Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano have already wrestled each other on two different occasions on NXT and, on both occasions, the two men absolutely tore the roof off the building.

With Gargano and Cole currently tied at 1-1, the two men are all set to square off in another Two-out-of-Three falls match but this time there's an added stipulation to each bout. Gargano and Cole have each picked a stipulation with Regal getting to choose the final fall and with the no disqualification in play, The Undisputed Era will obviously look to turn the tie around in Cole's favor.

Having won the NXT Championship at the last TakeOver (TakeOver: XXV), Cole is definitely the favorite to retain his title at the Scotiabank Arena, as he rightfully should. Gargano and Cole are likely to deliver another instant classic and TakeOver: Toronto could possibly be the most historic night for The Undisputed Era in WWE.

#1. The night ends with The Undisputed Era holding all the titles

With Adam Cole headlining the night against Johnny Gargano with the NXT Championship on the line, it is likely that The Panama City Playboy will be retaining his title, given that The Undisputed Era will be giving their best to make sure that Cole walks out of Toronto still as the NXT Champion.

On the other undercard, Undisputed Era member Roderick Strong will also have the opportunity to win his first singles title in WWE, as he is set to challenge for the NXT North American Championship in a Triple-Threat match involving current champion Velveteen Dream and former WWE UK Champion, Pete Dunne.

Fellow Undisputed Era members Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish will also have the chance to make history by becoming the first-ever three-time NXT Tag Team Champions, as The Undisputed Era now has the opportunity to win all the available men's titles in NXT.

If everything goes right, expect The Undisputed Era to close out TakeOver: Toronto with the gold.
