Reigns may usher in a new era for the title!

I know that some of you are big fans of his. I also know that some others among you cannot stand him at all. Whatever the case may be, Roman Reigns is your new Universal Champion. He scored a victory over former Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, in their fourth ever encounter at SummerSlam 2018.

It is difficult to dispute the fact that everything may change after The Big Dog's coronation. There may be a variety of changes that take place across the landscape of Monday Night Raw. I shall list some of them here for your reading pleasure.

Be sure to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts about Roman Reigns as the new Universal Champion. Are you for or against him, as the face of the company?

Maybe these arguments will change your mind, if you hail from the latter camp.

#5 A full time Universal Champion

We will finally get to see the title, every single week
We will finally get to see the title, every single week

Brock Lesnar is a man who has earned his stripes across multiple sports. However one can't help but nod one's head in agreement when he is called the worst Universal Champion of all time, even for the purpose of the ongoing storyline. Before the current program, he was last seen at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Now that Roman Reigns is champion, he will certainly bring his title to the show more frequently, and restore the prestige that was once lost. In my mind, this is necessary because of the damage that Lesnar's part-time schedule had done to the championship. Reigns is certain to carry the belt, wherever he travels with the company.

This is certainly a positive development and one that few will be opposed to. Reigns can definitely usher in a new era for the title, very soon.

#4 More pay-per-views with the title

Extreme Rules had suffered without a Universal Champion
PPVs like Extreme Rules had suffered without a Universal Champion

It certainly hurts the brand when your champion does not appear on every show. It is especially bad for the smaller pay-per-views where the Intercontinental Championship is RAW's top title being defended. Now that Roman Reigns is the Universal Champion, this won't be the case any longer.

Reigns can now compete on every single pay-per-view that WWE puts together this year, with the exception of 'Evolution', of course. He can tell long-term stories with other stars in the brand, much like Rollins and Ziggler are doing with the Intercontinental Championship. Most importantly, he can bring back the excitement that was lost during Brock Lesnar's reign.

How often does it happen that WWE puts together a B-pay-per-view, and none of us are really ever excited about it? This is set to change with Reigns as Universal Champion.

#3 Universal Championship matches will now have more variety

We won't have to sit through the usual Brock Lesnar match anymore
We won't have to sit through the usual Brock Lesnar match anymore

Roman Reigns may not have as vast a vocabulary of moves as say, AJ Styles does. At the same time, his matches will still be a breath of fresh air compared to the kind of matches that Brock Lesnar was working during his recent run. They won't be finisher fests, as we've grown accustomed to, with Lesnar as Champion. The matches may actually become exciting again.

In my honest estimation, Reigns can make the division more competitive. And he will not do so just with his move-set...

#2 More superstars will get title shots

Reigns can help elevate the entire RAW mid card
Reigns can help elevate the entire RAW mid card

So many superstars are currently languishing in the RAW mid card. This includes Bobby Roode and Bobby Lashley, both of whom were not even a part of SummerSlam, this time. This also includes performers like Finn Balor, Kevin Owens and Jinder Mahal, all of whom have been the face of their brand before.

I think each of them can come to the forefront with Reigns as Champion. Because his title matches will be more frequent, he will require more competitors to face off against. This will mean more opportunities for the RAW roster.

Maybe someone we never expected as Universal Champion will capture the title from Roman Reigns. Someone like Adam Cole from NXT, in due time.

#1 More possibility of a cash in

This is an exciting storyline in itself
This is an exciting storyline in itself, in the weeks that will follow

Strowman won the Money in the Bank contract a long time ago, defeating multiple men to get the prize. And yet, he's not been able to cash in, because Brock Lesnar is never really on the show. The opportunity will present itself very soon, now that Reigns holds the prize. The two men can renew hostilities one more time.

Remember the fantastic feud they had in 2017? WWE can revisit it and these two men can put on some great matches. I think it's only a matter of time until Braun Strowman captures the title himself.
