It has already been more than 5 months into 2020, and WWE has gone through a long string of changes over the past few months. The year kicked off on the usual note with fans getting ready for the road to WrestleMania, with an incredible Royal Rumble PPV. Things took a turn drastically though, as the coronavirus crisis made it impossible for Vince McMahon's company to keep churning out shows in packed arenas.

WWE still kept doing its thing by moving to the Performance Center and airing shows from the training facility, including WrestleMania. Over the past few months, Vince McMahon and WWE have done a bunch of things right. Let's take a look at five of these booking decisions.

#5 Cinematic matches

The Undertaker
The Undertaker

With WrestleMania emanating from the WWE Performance Center for the first time in history, WWE gave us the best possible content with whatever resources they had. Vince McMahon's promotion went out of its way to produce two incredible cinematic matches on both nights of the show. It was later reported that the Boneyard match featuring AJ Styles and The Undertaker was produced by Michael Hayes and WWE EVP Triple H.

On the other hand, the Firefly Fun House match contested between John Cena and Bray Wyatt on Night 2 of WrestleMania was mostly put together by Bray Wyatt and SmackDown Executive Director Bruch Prichard, with Cena giving some input as well. We also got another entertaining cinematic match at WWE Money In The Bank, and one can't help but feel thankful that Vince McMahon approved these ideas and let the involved personnel's imagination run wild. It was the need of the hour to have this kind of matches. Judging by the reaction these bouts received on social media, it's safe to say that WWE did the right thing by producing these matches at WrestleMania and Money In The Bank.

#4 The slow build to an eventual Bayley-Sasha Banks feud

Bayley and Banks
Bayley and Banks

Fans of Bayley and Sasha Banks might remember that these two have feuded on the main roster in the past, in what can only be deemed as a forgettable rivalry. It was speculated by many that the rivalry would culminate in a big one-on-one contest at WrestleMania 34. Instead, both women were put in the first-ever WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal on the pre-show. The free-for-all was won by Naomi, who eliminated Bayley to win the match.

Ever since Bayley turned heel last year, she has been featured heavily as SmackDown's top female Superstar, with Sasha by her side at all times. Banks has helped Bayley retain her title belt on several occasions. Fans must also have noticed how Banks has been eyeing the Women's title a lot lately and hinting a split somewhere down the line. Banks also signaled recently that the feud could kick off on the road to SummerSlam, culminating in a match at The Biggest Party of the Summer. Compared to the duo's feud from years ago, Vince McMahon is handling it incredibly well this time around, and it seems to be leading towards a massive payoff for Banks when she finally splits with Bayley and hopefully defeats her to bag the Women's title.

#3 Braun Strowman as Roman Reigns' replacement

Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman

The original Universal title match that was scheduled for WrestleMania 36 was between Goldberg and Roman Reigns. The Big Dog decided to pull himself from the event at the last moment, for his safety. Fans must be aware that Reigns has battled leukemia in the past, and was out of action for several months back in early 2019. Reigns was replaced with none other than "The Monster Among Men", Braun Strowman. The behemoth went on to defeat Goldberg to win his first Universal title.

Strowman has seen a bunch of ups and downs on the main roster, during his 5-year stint. He was incredibly over with the WWE Universe at one time but lost all momentum when Brock Lesnar defeated him at No Mercy 2017 with a single F5. It seemed like Strowman would get the Big Show treatment, and used as fodder to elevate young talents. Thankfully, years of grinding paid off at WrestleMania, and Strowman finally won the big one. Looking at what Strowman went through over the past five years on the main roster, he deserved this victory and the title reign.

#2 The Otis-Mandy Rose storyline

Otis and Mandy

The fan backlash to the Rusev-Lana-Bobby Lashley love triangle was huge, and a large segment of the WWE Universe wasn't happy at all at how Rusev had been treated throughout the angle. When the Otis-Mandy Rose-Dolph Ziggler angle kicked off on SmackDown, many fans were hesitant and felt that this storyline would also end up being a dud. Fortunately, WWE hit on all cylinders with this angle, and Otis suddenly became one of the hottest acts on WWE TV.

The storyline had a satisfying payoff at WrestleMania, where Otis defeated Ziggler with the help of Mandy, and the duo got together immediately after. Vince sensed how over Otis had gotten with the WWE Universe, and turned him into one of the top acts on the Blue brand. Otis went on to win the 2020 Men's Money In The Bank Ladder match at the namesake PPV, and fans of the Heavy Machinery member couldn't be happier. Here's hoping that WWE keeps building up Otis as a major star in the coming months. His character has tons of potential, and there are a bunch of engaging storylines and matches waiting for us in the future if WWE manages to push him properly.

#1 Finally giving Drew McIntyre his moment

Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre made his way to the main roster in 2018, and many believed that it was only a matter of time before he turned into a main event player and competed for the top title. It took 2 long years for that to happen, but McIntyre finally got his moment in the spotlight earlier this year. Vince McMahon had dubbed McIntyre as a future World Champion, during his arrival on SmackDown, back in 2009. Things went wrong though, and he turned into an enhancement talent in a matter of years.

McIntyre left WWE in 2014 and worked hard to improve himself. At the 2020 Royal Rumble, McIntyre eliminated Brock Lesnar, who had been wreaking havoc in the match before The Scottish Psychopath entered the ring. This was followed by McIntyre winning the whole thing. He chose to face Lesnar at 'Mania and went on to defeat The Beast to win his first-ever WWE title. At just 34, McIntyre still has a lot left in the tank and could easily be featured as one of the top stars in the company for years to come.
