We did not expect to these to happen at Crown Jewel

WWE Crown Jewel turned out to be a surprisingly good show. The event kicked off with the WWE Championship match and closed off with the Universal Championship match. History was made when Natayla and Lacey Evans took part in the first-ever women's match in Saudi Arabia. Two renowned athletes made their WWE in-ring debut against two of the company's top stars.

While some of the matches were quite predictable, several things took place at the PPV that we didn't expect to see, and right now, we'll take a look at the five things we didn't expect to see at WWE Crown Jewel 2019.

#5 The OC winning the Tag Team Turmoil match to become the 'Best Tag Team in the World'

After defeating The New Day, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson went up against the Raw Tag Team Champions, The Viking Raiders. Ivar and Erik have been the most dominant tag team on Monday Night Raw, and they have never lost a match prior to the event. The team shockingly lost to The O.C, resulting in Gallows and Anderson winning the Tag Team Turmoil match to become the 'Best Tag Team in the World.'

According to rumors, The Viking Raiders were originally supposed to win the turmoil match, and a lot of fans expected the same. The tag team got pinned for the first time at Crown Jewel since arriving on the main roster. The O.C. winning the match probably means that the company has big plans for them. All three members were victorious at the PPV.

The stable has the potential to be something big, as seen during their run in New Japan Pro Wrestling, so WWE planning a push for them is good news. Who knows? They could be next in line for the Raw Tag Team Championships.

#4 Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez opening the show

Eight matches took place at WWE Crown Jewel (excluding the battle royal match which was held on the kick-off show), and any one of those matches could've opened the show. Instead, the WWE Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez did the honors, which came as a big surprise for many fans.

A lot of people expected this match to either close the show or take place towards the end. This was a huge match, and it was for the WWE Championship as well. While it only lasted 2 minutes and 10 seconds, Lesnar and Velasquez put on a pretty decent MMA-type match, and the right person won. Still, the quickness of the match was pretty unexpected.

#3 Tyson Fury defeating Braun Strowman via count-out

Tyson Fury, The Gypsy King, made his WWE in-ring debut in a match against The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman. The match surprisingly ended via count-out after Fury knocked out Strowman with a punch. Many people knew that Fury was going to win, but none of expected the match to end via count-out.

The Gypsy King did not disappoint. The two monstrous athletes put on a decent match of their caliber, considering Fury's lack of experience.

#2 Cain Velasquez tapping out to Brock Lesnar in 2 minutes

Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar, two men who know each other very well, collided at Crown Jewel for the WWE Championship- as we mentioned before. In 2010, Velasquez knocked out Brock Lesnar in the first round and took The Beast's UFC Heavyweight Championship from him. The former MMA fighters clashed once again, but this time, it was in a WWE ring.

Lesnar locked Velasquez in the kimura lock and shockingly, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion tapped out. Following the match, The Beast punished Velasquez by repeatedly attacking him with a chair.

Fortunately, Rey Mysterio, who was at ringside for the match, was able to fight him off with a steel chair. That was surprising in of itself.

#1 The Fiend winning the Universal Championship

The Fiend Bray Wyatt and The Beastslayer Seth Rollins went to hell and back for the Universal Championship, and in the end, Wyatt left with the big red belt in his possession. But why is this a surprise, you asked? Well, Bray Wyatt is signed to SmackDown, so him winning Raw's top prize doesn't really make sense.

The wild card rule isn't around anymore. Many fans expected Rollins to retain since he is part of Raw. Now that The Fiend is the new Universal Champion, it means that two of the company's top titles are now part of SmackDown. What's going to happen next? We'll just have to stay tuned to Raw and SmackDown to find out.
