Drew McIntyre returned to this week's RAW after nearly 2 months of being sidelined because of a lingering injury. Ric Flair announced him as the fifth member of Team Flair at Crown Jewel. 'The Scottish Psychopath' had been suffering a minor injury and went to have surgery. Now that he has returned to WWE again, rumors have it that the company is planning a major push for him.

However, there are a few things that we should note about McIntyre's rumored push. We have gathered a list of 5 facts that revolve around the former Intercontinental Champion and his push within WWE. So without further ado, let's take a look at them. Also, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and let us know your opinion on Drew McIntyre and does he deserve a major push.

#5 His injury delayed his push in WWE

McIntyre is one of the most talented Superstars to ever work for WWE. He is charismatic, looks like a natural heel and also, his mic skills are fantastic. We are not exaggerating but McIntyre has proved it over and over again that he is really best at what he does. However, his fate hasn't been that great.

As per Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue, McIntyre was going to get a push from WWE last month but his injury derailed those plans.

“Drew didn’t tell people he was suffering until it was almost too late and there was a scramble to work around it. It could cost him later on. Nobody wants to see someone working injured. It really doesn’t help anything.”

His injury didn't only cost his a major push, it also took away a huge opportunity from him that we'll discuss on the next page.

#4 He was going to win the King of the Ring tournament

As we said earlier, McIntyre's injury didn't only cost him a push, it also altered WWE's plans of making him the King of the Ring 2019. The tournament was later won by Baron Corbin, who went on to defeat Shorty G in the finals. While this victory hasn't benefitted Corbin a lot, the same wouldn't have been the case with McIntyre.

"I have heard quite a few things over the process at the very beginning I heard, Drew McIntyre was going to be the guy, that obviously did not pan out," said Tom Colohue during Sportskeeda's Dropkick DiSKussions.

He's a different character than Corbin and WWE would likely have involved him a major program (more on this later).

#3 He was rumored to receive a Universal Championship shot before The Fiend

A few weeks ago, WrestleVotes reported that Seth Rollins' next challenger is going to be Drew McIntyre. We should note that this was before 'The Fiend' engaged in a rivalry with him. The plans, however, were changed and then, Bray Wyatt faced Rollins at Hell in a Cell.

Tom Colohue also reported the same and said that McIntyre would have challenged for the Universal Championship after winning the King of the Ring tournament, both of which didn't happen due to the injury.

"I’m hearing he was supposed to King of the Ring, get his championship opportunity right afterwards as an end result for winning the tournament," said Colohue.

Wyatt and Rollins are reportedly going to work until November, and we can expect McIntyre to challenge 'The Beastslayer' after he's done with 'The Fiend'.

#2 He was among the few Superstars to get drafted on RAW during the 1st round

Drew McIntyre was out of action for 7 weeks and that is a long time for a full-time Superstar. Despite that, he was drafted to Monday Night RAW during the WWE Draft on the first round. He was the 5th overall pick of the night and it proves that the WWE officials are still invested in McIntyre and they want to use him as a main-event Superstar.

RAW also has a shortage of top heels but McIntyre can fill that spot. He works perfectly as a villain and his work is appreciated by the likes of Bret Hart, The Rock and more. And because he was drafted to RAW during the first-round of WWE Draft, there must be a big reason behind which could be something that I talk about in my next point.

#1 Vince McMahon is a big fan of him

Nothing could make a Superstar more happy than gaining the liking and respect of Vince McMahon. The Chairman of WWE is, after all, the man who decides whether or not a wrestler will get a major push or not. From time to time, McIntyre has impressed the fans and WWE officials with his work and it seems that Vince McMahon is also a huge fan of him. Here's what Tom Colohue said about Vince and Drew during Dropkick DiSKussions:

"Everything I have heard about Drew McIntyre has been very positive backstage. They are thoroughly behind him. Vince McMahon still wants to make him a world champion. He wants him to be the chosen one and essentially prove himself right from twelve years ago."

Everything we have discussed in this article indicates that McIntyre is almost guaranteed a massive push in WWE and unless a tragedy happens, the plans won't change this time. So don't be surprised if, in a few weeks, The Scottish Psychopath challenges Seth Rollins for the Universal title.
