Sasha Banks is one of the best wrestlers in all of WWE. Despite being fairly young, she's broken barriers and positively impacted WWE's Women's Division. Banks deserves to be credited for it, and when all is said and done, she will likely be a Hall of Famer.

Banks returned to WWE after a four-month hiatus to feud with Becky Lynch. Many expected her to come out on top, but she failed to win the RAW Women's Championship. Currently, Banks is on SmackDown after being drafted to the Blue brand during the recent WWE Draft. Although, she doesn't have any feud set in stone at the moment, this change in scenery should help her get involved in engaging storylines.

Sasha Banks is not only a great wrestler, but also an inspiring person behind the scenes. Despite going through many hardships in life, she's reached the top and sets an example for fans worldwide. With all that stated, let's look at five things you didn't know about Sasha Banks.

#5. She feared her father

During an interview on the Making Their Way To The Ring podcast, Sasha Banks opened up about her childhood. While growing up, she feared her father, who she claims was abusive to her mother. By the time she turned two, her father had abandoned the family and moved to Oregon to start a new life. Unable to make ends meet, Banks, her mother, and brother traveled across the US in search of a better life.

When she was 11 or 12, her mom relocated the family to Oregon to try to get help from her husband. Sasha's dad, who owned a restaurant and a record label, never helped them, despite having the money to be able to do so. She says she was miserable and depressed at that time. Finally, they packed and left Oregon in search of a new school.

#4. She took care of her autistic brother

In the same podcast, Sasha Banks mentioned that her brother was autistic. Her family left Oregon in search of a better school, after her brother was bullied for his autism. Once the family arrived in Minnesota, things didn't get much better.

Her mother was unemployed at the time, and they lived in a hotel room for years. To make matters worse, she was teased relentlessly at school about her parents. When her mom finally landed a job, she boldly quit school at the age of 13 and took online courses at home. This allowed her to become her brother's full-time caregiver, a decision that helped her grow as a person.

She also mentions that she never experienced the things most other kids do in their teenage life. She promised her mom to do anything for the family and in return, wanted her help to get to a wrestling school. The rest, as they say, is history.

#3. Banks hid her marriage

Sasha Banks has been open in talking about her struggles during childhood, but one topic she isn't forthcoming about is her marriage to former wrestler and WWE costume designer Kid Mikaze. On Lillian Garcia's podcast in March 2017, she finally let the cat out of the bag. This was the first instance that Banks had acknowledged her marriage in any public setting, which was surprising.

She claimed that she hid her marriage because of some fans who go crazy about such things. She says that it hurts her when online trolls call her husband ugly or make statements about why he should not be with her.

It's easy to understand where she is coming from, as people these days often have no respect for one another. Many use the social media platform to spread hate and criticize others. Some fans obsess over WWE Superstars way too much and say hurtful things, forgetting that wrestlers are also human beings.

#2. There's one thing she doesn't miss about the indies

Sasha Banks wasn't always making a lot of money for her performances in the ring. There was once a time she had no choice but to take whatever little she received. She wrestled in the independent circuit for four years before making her way to WWE. Banks wrestled for various promotions, including Chaotic Wrestling, New England Championship Wrestling, and National Wrestling Alliance.

During her appearance on First We Feast's Hot Ones, she talked about her wrestling career before joining WWE. When asked what she doesn't miss about the indies, she mentioned that there were many "scummy promoters" who made her days difficult.

She also says

"I dont miss getting paid 25 dollars or getting paid by just getting a slice of pizza. It was legit. Either you get a pizza or a hotdog or you get 25 dollars."

Those days are behind her, and she reportedly earns $250,000 dollars per year.

#1. She and Bayley pushed for the Women's Tag Team Titles

For over a year, there were constant rumors about the possibility of WWE Women's Tag Team Championships. Those rumors came to fruition when WWE established the titles in December 2018. Sasha Banks and Bayley became the inaugural champions when they won the titles at Elimination Chamber 2019.

These titles might not have come into existence, if it weren't for Banks and Bayley. During an interview with Sky Sports, Banks mentioned that they had to convince Vince McMahon that establishing the titles was a good idea. She claimed that McMahon would frequently flip-flop on his answer and change his mind from one week to the next.

She also said

"It felt like the whole of last year we were asking, like we would be knocking on the door of Vince's office every week. If you're annoying enough you can make things happen and that's probably what happened, he just got annoyed with us."
