The often criticised but much talked about Eva Marie is on the verge of becoming the face of the Women's division on SmackDown. She has everything Vince wants in an entertainer; looks, presence & marketability. Many fans see her as the female Roman Reigns, a wrestler with the company's undivided backing despite limited in ring ability.
I can understand this viewpoint but I'm here to tell you there's more than what meets the eye with the #AllRedEverything star. Here are a few things you may not have known about Natalie Eva Marie.
#1 She used to be an alcoholic
Every great star has a troubled past and Eva Marie is no different. The 32-year old is a self-confessed former alcohol addict. In her teenage years, she admitted to struggling to be able to control her alcohol consumption at parties and party gatherings with friends. As she entered her early twenties, she used body-building and fitness to tame her cravings and put her life back on track.
When you hear things like this it always makes you appreciative of what wrestlers have been through to get to this point. WWE Superstars are role models of what the masses aspire to be and Eva's troubled past only galvanises her status in the eyes of the WWE Universe.
#2 She's half-Mexican
Wrestling has always had a rich Mexican history and a long line of Mexican wrestlers have graced us with their presence over the decades. Great wrestlers like; Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio & Eddie Guerrero have all entertained millions of WWE fans across the World.
Get ready to add another one to the list....yes, Eva Marie. The redhead's mother Josie was born in Mexico making her half Mexican, this alone justifies the hype around her. Due to her ancestral ties, we can expect her to become the first WWE Women's Champion of Latino descent. #3 She has a brain
It's understandable that many look at Eva Marie and see an individual that has got to where she is in life due to her looks. But Eva Marie doesn't only just have the stunning looks, she's well-educated too. The WWE diva has not one, but two degrees on her CV. The 32-year old studied at Diablo Valley College as a teenager and then moved onto California State University where she earned a bachelor in Business Management and then a minor degree in Human Resources.
This not only implies she has a holistic skill set but it also suggests that Marie has a hunger to learn as much as possible. It's always good to see wrestlers have a backup plan for when wrestling doesn't pan out well. If all else fails, Eva has several degrees to fall back on.
#4 Her husband is her manager
They always say that you should never mix business with pleasure but as in everything she does, Eva Marie has gone against the grain. Eva Marie married her husband (lucky man) Jonathan Coyle in 2014 after being in a relationship for several years before. And guess where they met, yep, in the gym.
From the very first second this relationship was destined to be a prosperous one. Just like his wife, Jonathan Coyle has a degree in Business Management thus allowing him to be qualified to manage the redhead. This business relationship allows the married couple to know each other inside out and spend ample amounts of time with each other on the road.
#5 She's signed to same agency as The Rock
We all know that in today's world looks are almost everything, so I'm sure you won't be surprised to find out that Eva has a few connections in showbiz already. Outside of the WWE, Eva's career looks promising as she's had cameos in films and starred in several fashion magazines.
In 2017, Marie will be appearing in a Hollywood film called 'Inconceivable' as a character called 'Angela'. She's able to land roles like this due to her affiliation with the Great One, The Rock, the two are managed by the same agency. The Brahma Bull has often taken to Twitter & Instagram to praise Eva Marie as 'commendable' and as a 'hard-worker' for her desire to be better in the ring.
Despite being on different career trajectories, the two share the same agent and Eva will be hoping The Rock can open some doors in Hollywood for her in the future.
