WWE SummerSlam 2020 wasn't exactly the pay-per-view Braun Strowman would've hoped for. The Monster Among Men lost his WWE Universal Championship to his arch-rival Bray Wyatt, in the main event of the show. But, the night got worse as the former champ was the target of a brutal assault at the hands of the returning Roman Reigns.

Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns have a long history with each other in WWE. It can almost be said that the former Universal Champion got his first big break in the company after his popular feud with The Big Dog on RAW from a few years ago. And as things stand, the two men are set to restart their old rivalry but with Bray Wyatt also being added to the mix at WWE Payback.

While WWE won't have much time on their hands to build-up the upcoming Triple Threat Universal Championship Match between The Fiend, Strowman, and Reigns, it shouldn't stop us from looking back on some of the most memorable moments involving the two title challengers from this coming weekend.

Throughout the years, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns have demolished each other in WWE but it can be argued that The Monster Among Men has gotten the better of The Big Dog on most occasions, especially when you consider that Reigns was flipped within an entire ambulance. More on that later...

This article looks into the 5 times when Braun Strowman brutally attacked Roman Reigns in WWE.

#5 Braun Strowman demolishes 2/3rd of The Shield

Braun Strowman first broke into WWE as part of The Wyatt Family (i.e., if you don't recall his run as a rosebud) and immediately engaged himself in a feud against Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose.

In 2015, the year when Strowman was first introduced to the WWE Universe, the former Wyatt Family member competed in some notable matches, one of them being against Dean Ambrose on RAW. Not only did Strowman single handedly take care of The Lunatic Fringe but he also manhandled Roman Reigns, and tossed him into the ring through the ropes to begin the assault.

Strowman then followed up with a bear hug on Reigns and also took out Ambrose, almost on his own, even though Luke Harper decided to give a helping hand that pretty much wasn't needed. The Wyatt Family's black sheep single-handedly took out the 2/3rd of The Shield, and Bray Wyatt concluded the brutal beatdown.

#4 Braun Strowman beats Roman Reigns in an almost one-sided match at WWE Payback

WWE Payback 2020 will mark the renewal of Roman Reigns' iconic rivalry with Braun Strowman. However, this year's Payback PPV won't be the first time Strowman and Reigns will share the ring with each other at the event, as three years ago, the pair did so in a singles match.

WWE Payback 2017 was headlined by Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, in a match which the WWE Universe wanted The Monster Among Men to decimate the former Universal Champion. This was evident by the fact that in the aftermath of Strowman's dominant win, the crowd even chanted "Thank you Strowman".

Heading into the match, Roman Reigns was severely banged up and this only gave Strowman an additional reason to absolutely demolish Reigns at every given opportunity. And as it turned out, that was exactly the case as Braun Strowman used the steel steps, the ring posts, and the announce table to his advantage.

#3 Braun Strowman demolishes two big men on the Road to SummerSlam 2017

SummerSlam 2017 featured a stacked match-card as the pay-per-view featured the likes of Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose, and Sasha Banks, among other notable names. The show was headlined by The Beast Incarnate who put his Universal Championship on the line against arguably three of the biggest names in the company in Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Samoa Joe.

These three men were quite possibly the biggest threats to Lesnar's Universal Championship at that point in time.

In the build-up to the show, Reigns and Joe competed in a singles match on RAW, however, there was no decisive finish to the bout, as Braun Strowman took out both The Big Dog and the former NXT Champion, despite being in a 2-on-1 situation. Braun Strowman's assault on both Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns made him one of the favourites to walk out of SummerSlam as the new Universal Champion, but adding Brock Lesnar to the mix makes it an altogether different ball game.

#2 Fastlane contract signing between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns turns into chaos

As previously mentioned, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns have shared the ring with each other on numerous occasions and one of those instances was at Fastlane 2017.

In the lead-up to the match, both Reigns and Strowman had a contract signing on Monday Night RAW, that was hosted by then RAW General Manager, Mick Foley. The segment started-off with The Monster Among Men disrespecting Foley and as the latter stood up for himself, Roman Reigns made his way out to the ring and declared war on his arch-rival.

The two men once again went at it on RAW and at one point, it did seem that Reigns would get the upper hand over Strowman. That was the case until the latter crashed The Big Dog into the ring post. The brawl was quickly taken in-between the WWE Universe and this time, Reigns did gain the upper hand and eventually drove Strowman through the barricade, courtesy of a brutal spear.

But, being the monster he is, Braun Strowman got back-up on his feet, much to Roman Reigns' disbelief. The former pushed The Big Dog into the turnbuckle with such force that the top rope eventually came-off. Talk about sheer power!

#1 Braun Strowman flips an ambulance with Roman Reigns in it

Of all the brawls that Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns have had over the years, this one probably stands out the most, solely due to the fact that Strowman was on a rampage that night on RAW.

In the aftermath of Roman Reigns' historic WrestleMania win over The Undertaker, The Big Dog received quite a reaction from the WWE Universe but disaster struck while Reigns was involved in a backstage interview with Michael Cole, reflecting on the biggest win of his career. While Reigns was jubilant after his win over The Phenom, one man who wasn't a fan of everything that was going around was Braun Strowman.

The Monster Among Men unleashed absolute hell on Roman Reigns, beating him all over the backstage area, and tossing him through a table to get things started. After the brutal beating, the medical team rushed onto the scene to carry Reigns to a medical facility, however, Strowman wouldn't even let that happen.

Strowman carried Reigns' prone body in a stretcher and threw it off the stage. While the former WWE Champion was transferred into an ambulance, Strowman came back for one final blow and flipped the ambulance to bring an end to one of the most gruesome beatings witnessed on WWE TV.
