5 times Vince McMahon and WWE hinted Kevin Owens is the next big thing

Is Vince McMahon secretly booking an unexpected storyline here with Owens?

After being frustrated and dejected with his current direction in the WWE, Kevin Owens has apparently quit the company, and walked out. Since he recently signed a new contract with the WWE, there's no denying that this could be a storyline angle that can probably restructure Owens' entire WWE career.

While his physical stature might not be appreciated backstage, his in-ring ability, his mic work, and most importantly, his heelish mannerisms have turned KO into one of the biggest heels on the main roster.

His altercation with Vince McMahon on SmackDown Live last year proved WWE definitely believes in The Prizefighter, and the chairman certainly wants to see Owens rise to the top of the mountain.

His apparent walk-out has gravitated tremendous attention, and might coerce the creative team to push a serious narrative for the former Universal Champion.

So without further ado, lets outline the 5 times Vince McMahon hinted Kevin Owens is the next big thing.

#1 He defeated John Cena clean in his first WWE match

The
The Prizefighter laid waste to the face of the WWE

John Cena is perhaps the greatest professional wrestler in the history of WWE, and happens to be Vince McMahon's crown jewel.

Since he is The Franchise Player of the business, it would be very odd to have an independent guy defeat John Cena in his first WWE match, under Vince McMahon's umbrella.

But this really happened. Kevin Owens' debut on the main-roster took the world by storm as he laid waste to The Cenation Leader, and vowed to decimate him at Elimination Chamber.

The feud brought legitimate attention to The Prizefighter, and instantly made him the biggest heel. No NXT Superstar has ever debuted in the same way as Kevin Owens, and the fact that he defeated John Cena clean on his first match on the main roster speaks volumes of Vince McMahon's belief in The Prizefighter.

#2 Matching him against WCW Icon Bill Goldberg for the Universal Championship

Owens' stock rose up when he won the Universal Championship

While many WWE fans might despise the idea of having Owens buried by Goldberg at WWE Fastlane, Vince McMahon wouldn't have pushed The Prizefighter in this program if he had not believed in him.

Since he was already scheduled to square off against Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 33, he certainly managed to garner a lot of negative heat, after he betrayed his best friend once again.

With Kevin Owens already having his first major title run, he became an established heel and was pushed to the moon before he dropped the belt to Goldberg.

Owens might have been squashed that night, but it certainly proved that his Universal Championship run had definitely impressed the chairman.

#3 Pushing him as the biggest heel on SmackDown Live in 2017

Owens took the blue brand by storm in 2017

There's no denying that SmackDown Live was unsuccessful in garnering much intrigue while advancing their narrative throughout 2017.

Jinder Mahal's rise to the top of the WWE drastically diminished the blue brand's credibility. However, it was not The Modern Day Maharaja who was pushed to the moon, it was Kevin Owens.

The Prizefighter ascended to the top of SmackDown Live by instantly delivering an incredible feud with AJ Styles for the United States Championship.

The former Universal Champion also took his rivalry with Shane McMahon to the extreme, and was successful in forming a promising alliance with Sami Zayn.

Owens was a headline act on the blue brand, and while Monday Night Raw may be WWE's flagship show, Vince McMahon's willingness to push The Prizefighter on SmackDown worked wonders for Owens.

#4 Headbutting Vince McMahon, and completely brutalizing him to make a gigantic statement

If
If he's doing the honors for you, then you certainly deserve the spot

Vince McMahon is regarded as one of the greatest promoters in the professional wrestling industry, and his ideas have ascended many superstars to the top of the industry.

A similar situation transpired when the chairman confronted Kevin Owens after he vehemently assaulted Shane McMahon on the blue brand.

The Prizefighter warned Mr. McMahon that if provoked, he could beat a McMahon senseless, and that's what he did when he brutally assaulted the boss.

At his age, it is unlikely for McMahon to sell a beating to push anyone to the top, but he did for Kevin Owens. This particular beat down only went on to justify that Vince certainly sees the former Universal Champion as the next big thing in the WWE.

#5 Shocking the entire world by becoming Triple H's golden boy, and winning the Universal Championship

Owens deserved it since day one

In what was probably one of the most shocking moments in Monday Night Raw history, Kevin Owens aligned with Triple H to defeat the likes of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns on a single night.

Often referred to as Triple H's golden boy, The Prizefighter certainly seems to have ascended to the top of the mountain via his incredible body of work.

Kevin Owens winning the Universal Championship, and perhaps holding the most prestigious belt in WWE today, spoke volumes about the management's belief in his ability to shine as a credible heel.

He had stellar feuds with Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Chris Jericho during his tenure on Monday Night Raw, and delivered some exceptional moments for the fans to remember forever.

Whether Owens returns as a more humble man, or if he returns as a monstrous heel, there's no denying that WWE sees a future main-event superstar in him.
