Professional wrestling is a strange business. As a scripted show, you obviously have some leeway in terms of pushing the realms of believability but the WWE tends to take things to a whole new level. The best example of this came just recently at WWE TLC 2017 when Braun Strowman was thrown into a garbage truck and then compressed - presumably to his death.

But, of course, this is only until he makes his shocking return from beyond the grave. And, this isn't even the first time that a wrestler has passed through Hades' gate only to return as good as new a few week's later.

So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 times wrestlers came back from the dead in WWE storylines:

#5) Kane

The ever-lovable Kane - who was incidentally responsible for tossing Braun Strowman to his garbage-filled demise - has had his own instances of meeting up with Death. After all, he was supposedly killed in a fire as a child before he made his return to the world of the living for his WWE debut all those years ago.

He has also been buried alive, kicked into a dumpster of fire, and various other deathly shenanigans, all of which he has returned from with little damage.

#4) The Undertaker

Naturally, following Kane on this list is his big brother, The Undertaker. When you operate under the gimmick on an undead zombie, I guess returning from the dead is a part of the deal? Or should he just never die in the first place cause he's undead?

Anyway, Taker has had his fair share of returns from the dead, having been buried alive on a number of occasions and having even been locked into caskets. Fun times. Guess they call him The Deadman for a reason?

#3) The Big Boss Man

From The Undertaker being the victim to The Undertaker being the killer. Going up against The Big Boss Man at Wrestlemania XV in a Hell in a Cell match, The Deadman wasn't just content with beating his opponent.

Instead, he decided to hang him from the top of the Cell. Cold-blooded murder on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Cool! Of course, it didn't really seem to matter as The Boss Man soon returned.

#2) Paul Bearer

More Undertaker killing people on WWE programming goodness, now. Paul Bearer - Taker's long-time friend and manager - couldn't escape The Deadman's wrath in bizarre circumstances.

He was locked in a glass cage that would bury him in cement should The Undertaker suffer a loss against The Dudleys in a handicap match. Sounds fine because The Deadman obviously won. What he did next though was just baffling.

He proceeded to fill Bearer's cage with cement thereby "killing" his friend. Bearer returned hale and hearty a few years later.

#1) Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon came up with the brilliant idea to get himself killed on WWE programming. There was a storyline where he got into a car and it blew up. The Chairman took it so far that he even planted stories about it in legitimate news outlets.

Things fell apart when he was forced to return a little while later following the tragic double-homicide suicide of Chris Benoit.
