Lars Sullivan has been off of WWE programming for over a year due to a knee injury he sustained in 2019. "The Freak" is still signed with the company as a SmackDown Superstar. WWE had big plans for Lars Sullivan which included a program with John Cena but it was nixed after he went on a hiatus because of anxiety issues.

According to the latest reports, Lars Sullivan has recently been spotted training, which led to speculations that he's preparing to return to WWE. Lars Sullivan competed for NXT before he made his main roster debut on Monday Night RAW the night after WWE WrestleMania 35.

Lars Sullivan was drafted to SmackDown during the 2019 Superstar Shake-up where he was involved in a feud with the Lucha House Party. He suffered a knee injury during a rematch with the trio on RAW. He has been recovering ever since.

Now that he could make a comeback soon, let's take a look at the five ways WWE should book Lars Sullivan's return.

#5 Lars Sullivan returns to WWE NXT

The Freak could once again be an NXT Superstar
The Freak could once again be an NXT Superstar

Lars Sullivan joined NXT in early 2017. He competed there until 2018 but his run on the "black and gold brand" was underwhelming. Even though WWE portrayed him as a monster due to his size and appearance, he didn't achieve anything significant on NXT.

Lars Sullivan competed in several NXT TakeOver matches and even unsuccessful challenged Aleister Black for the NXT Championship. NXT is still the hottest brand in WWE which features popular stars such as Keith Lee, Karrion Kross, and so many more. So, Lars Sullivan has a lot of potential opponents to feud with.

Sullivan is still green in the ring so a shift back to NXT could help him develop his character and in-ring work. His 'freak of nature' gimmick is overdone in WWE, so perhaps he could stumble upon something different; a fresh, new, and interesting take on a big man.

Former Universal Champion, Finn Balor, returned to NXT where he currently portrays a heel character, which he never got to do on the main roster. Lars Sullivan spent only a year on NXT before he was called up. So, a longer run in NXT could be beneficial for him longterm. He'll be ready when it's time to return to the main roster.

#4 Lars Sullivan returns to WWE RAW

The Freak could make an unexpected return to Monday Night RAW

Lars Sullivan made his big debut on RAW in April last year when he attacked WWE Hall of Famer, Kurt Angle. He continued his path of destruction on the brand the following weeks, laying waste to renowned Superstars such as Matt and Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio.

Lars Sullivan's run on Monday Night RAW came to a halt after he moved to SmackDown a few weeks after his debut. When he makes his return to the company, WWE should repackaged him as a RAW Superstar once again.

The blue brand is already occupied with monsters. Therefore, RAW could use one of its own. SmackDown has "The Monster Among Men," Braun Strowman, plus they also have "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. On RAW, Sullivan could continue his path of destruction and eventually start a feud with the likes of Aleister Black or Rey Mysterio. He could even dethrone Apollo Crews to capture the United States Championship.

We could even see a match between him and Drew McIntyre somewhere down the line. With the lack of pure heels in professional wrestling today, Lars Sullivan could generate legitimate heat that would elevate him up the card. If booked correctly, he could even challenge McIntyre or whoever holds the WWE Championship for the title. There's so much he could do on RAW.

#3 Lars Sullivan returns to wreak havoc on RAW Underground

RAW Underground has been one of the best part of Monday Night RAW lately. During segments hosted by Shane McMahon, WWE Superstars and random fighters collide in worked-shoot fights where anything can happen. A couple of legitimate fighters such as Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir and Bobby Lashley have competed on the show.

Lars Sullivan could make his WWE return on RAW Underground and lay waste to everyone in his sight. He could quickly run over all the other fighters until no one else is left standing. It would be believable considering the fact that Lars Sullivan is a freakish human being.

After his lengthy hiatus, a few victories and some destruction on RAW Underground would help him gain momentum before he made his return to the main roster. Lars Sullivan will look even more unstoppable than ever before, giving fans a taste of something close to a real-life monster.

#2 Lars Sullivan feuds with Brock Lesnar

Why not?
Why not?

Beasts, monsters, freaks, or whatever you want to call them are all real and they exist in WWE. What happens when these special beings collide? "The Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar is one of the most dominant Superstars to ever step foot in WWE. Lesnar has defeated almost every high profile wrestler you could name in the last decade.

His success continued all the way to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he captured the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Brock Lesnar's last match was at WrestleMania 36, where he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre.

Even though he hasn't been seen since, Lesnar usually wrestles four times a year. What better way could WWE establish Lars Sullivan as a big deal other than putting him up against Brock Lesnar? Lesnar has a higher chance of winning the match, but Sullivan will still get the rub he desperately needs.

These monstrous Superstars could have a match at Survivor Series or any other pay-per-view for that matter. Even WWE CEO, Vince McMahon, was interested in a match between Lars Sullivan and Brock Lesnar.

According to Fightful Select, McMahon's initial plan was to build Lars Sullivan up to face Brock Lesnar in 2019, but the plans were scrapped.

“This is a guy that Vince McMahon wanted ready for Brock Lesnar last year.”

When Sullivan returns to WWE, Vince could revisit those plans and book a match between both Superstars.

#1 Lars Sullivan joins the new Wyatt Family

Never say never...
Never say never...

The Wyatt Family, a stable that was run by "The Eater of Worlds," recruited ordinary Superstars during their active years such as Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton. Now, it looks like Alexa Bliss could be part of the group's reincarnation.

Imagine if Lars Sullivan returned to SmackDown and also aligned himself with "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt and together with Alexa Bliss they form the New Wyatt Family.

Lars Sullivan fits the requirements perfectly to be a Wyatt Family member. He is big, hairy, and scary. Since Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are no longer in WWE, Lars Sullivan could fill the role of Bray Wyatt's newest follower.

Even if The Fiend turned babyface, Sullivan could still fit in as a member of the New Wyatt Family. If a face Bray Wyatt had to feud with a heel Superstar, Lars Sullivan could assist Wyatt in any necessary way, especially during another cinematic match.

This would be the best use of Lars Sullivan. Aligning him with The Fiend could turn Sullivan into a likable character.
