At this year's WWE Payback event, 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt defended the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat Match.

While Wyatt and Strowman beat the life out of each other, Roman Reigns made a smart decision and signed the match contract right when The Fiend and The Monster were running on fumes. This way, The Big Dog was able to spear and pin an exhausted Strowman to become the new Universal Champion.

Most Payback news stories seem to be focused on Roman Reigns and his huge accomplishment, and it has overshadowed an important plot point that occurred during the main event. Alexa Bliss made a backstage cameo and observed The Fiend on a television screen.

Although The Wicked Witch of WWE has teased her potential affection for The Fiend previously, last week's SmackDown indicated that the storyline between Alexa Bliss and Bray Wyatt may have just begun.

With that being said, here are 5 Ways WWE can book Alexa Bliss after Payback 2020.

#5: Alexa Bliss betrays her friend Nikki Cross

During last week's edition of WWE SmackDown, Alexa Bliss debuted a new look, which was quite reminiscent of her Harley Quinn character back when she was a heel.

Bliss appeared in relatively good spirits and she also approached Tamina and Nikki Cross in a backstage segment. What began as a friendly meetup turned into Bliss snapping at her best friend, Nikki Cross, who said that the former's new hairstyle reminded her of The Fiend.

WWE could indirectly address Alexa Bliss and The Fiend's storyline by focusing on the after-effects of that angle. In this case, the aftermath of what happened could lead to Alexa's frustrations prompting her to betray Nikki Cross.

Perhaps the two could even embark on another tag team run before the betrayal occurs, only this time around, the roles are reversed with Alexa Bliss being the twisted soul compared to a relatively stable Nikki Cross in 2020.

#4: Alexa Bliss targets the SmackDown Women's Champion with her new gimmick

At WWE Payback 2020, The Golden Role Models (Bayley and Sasha Banks) lost their Women's Tag Team Titles to Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.

Sasha also lost her RAW Women's Title at SummerSlam, so to summarise, the only title that The Golden Role Models hold currently is Bayley's SmackDown Women's Championship.

Recently, Mandy Rose gave an important update as far as her future in WWE is concerned. The Golden Goddess stated that she is ready to chase the SmackDown Women's Title. While that may be her ultimate goal, no such development occurred on the Blue brand's final episode before WWE Payback.

Instead, Alexa Bliss had a small segment that night, as mentioned in the previous slide.

Apart from a potential angle with Nikki Cross, one other way for WWE to indirectly address Alexa Bliss and The Fiend's storyline would be for the former star to aim for Bayley's title.

Even though Bayley is still the SmackDown Women's Champion, her heel characteristics almost faded away after she losing to the dominant duo of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. So to pit her against Alexa's twisted gimmick in a feud would certainly be a treat to watch.

#3: Alexa Bliss could turn Braun Strowman into a more believable babyface character

Before WWE Payback aired live, a source stated that Braun Strowman could turn babyface during the Triple Threat No Holds Barred Main Event.

As per various ways WWE could have booked the Payback main event, Alexa Bliss was considered a notable factor heading into the pay-per-view. Bliss and Strowman have an intriguing history with each other.

WWE showcased them as friends in a light-hearted way during the Mixed Match Challenge period. But since Braun Strowman turned heel after the Wyatt Swamp Fight, The Monster Among Men became emotionally detached from her to a point where he attempted a dangerous move on Bliss to lure The Fiend out.

Now Alexa Bliss herself is transitioning into a new character, and given the current state of SmackDown, it is very unlikely that three of the biggest stars in WWE (Reigns, Strowman, Wyatt) will manage to co-exist as heels on the same brand.

Roman Reigns has been established as a legitimate heel, so a babyface turn for him seems unlikely. Although Strowman just turned heel, using Alexa Bliss as a plot device may help to establish a face turn for the Monster Among Men.

#2: Alexa Bliss could join forces with The Fiend after Payback

In WWE as well as fictional storytelling in general, there is a saying that what goes around, comes around.

The Fiend is responsible for kickstarting a chain of events that led to a change in Alexa Bliss and her onscreen character. If The Fiend hadn't attacked Bliss first, none of this would have happened at all.

After what Roman Reigns did at Payback, it is not that hard to sympathize with a character (The Fiend) that has terrorized WWE for months. A common link between both Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt is Alexa Bliss.

Perhaps Alexa Bliss could be the catalyst for transforming The Fiend into a more believable babyface. After all, Bliss looked attached to Wyatt's evil alter-ego last Sunday, and probably not Braun Strowman.

Moreover, Wyatt procured his trademark Firefly Fun House hammer during the Triple Threat bout at WWE Payback, and as many fans have pointed out, the weapon bears a close resemblance to Harley Quinn's hammer as well.

Alexa Bliss has done similar cosplays as the Harley Quinn comic-book character several times in the past, and it might be no coincidence that her new look is somewhat reminiscent of that particular attire. Could WWE portray Bray and Alexa's onscreen equation similar to that of Joker and Harley Quinn?

#1: The Alexa Bliss character may transform into a live-action version of Abby The Witch

Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue revealed that the WWE SmackDown segment featuring Alexa Bliss last week included a small detail that may hint towards the future of her new WWE character.

Nikki Cross seemed fixated on Alexa's hair in that backstage segment, but the latter star's lower body attire bore some resemblance to a popular puppet from Bray Wyatt's Firefly Fun House, named Abby The Witch.

Many WWE fans have a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to the storyline between Alexa Bliss and The Fiend. If there was a possibility that the aforementioned Firefly Fun House puppet could manifest itself as a new personality of Bliss, viewers may finally get an intriguing pay-off to this WWE angle.

Anyone who crosses paths with The Fiend in a notable way gets "changed" for better or worse, and if there is one thing that WWE has hinted so far, it is that Alexa Bliss is definitely in the process of undergoing a massive change from a character standpoint.
