The world of professional wrestling can be a dangerous place.

Often, a match between two rivals isn't enough, and weapons have to be thrown in the mix to truly settle the score. And those some weapons have become iconic and synonymous with certain Superstars (Tables with the Dudley Boyz for example), not every weapon can be a winner.

For every iconic TLC match or Singapore cane though, there are some dud weapons matches, featuring bizarre weapons and unique rules. These five weapons really made fans scratch their heads, but despite being weird, often ended up being hilarious, interesting and effective.

Here are five of the very weirdest weapons to ever be used in a WWE match.

#5: Mist

The Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri utilized mist throughout much of his career in the WWE.

One of the most important things about professional wrestling is being able to suspend disbelief, and never has that been truer than with the iconic mist.

Used in WWE by stars like Tajiri, the mist has its origins in Japan, but has become a huge offensive weapon in the United States. Only in the industry we all love could a mixture of water and food colouring not only be a dangerous mix, but there would be so much lore behind the iconic mist.

Over the years, different colours different purposes: Green to obstruct vision, Red to burn the eyes, Black to blind for weeks, Blue to put someone to sleep, and Yellow to paralyze. Recently, Roxxi Laveaux introduced the Purple Mist to cause memory loss.

Though no Superstars in WWE are currently using the mist, it may be just a matter of time before a new Superstar takes up the mist once again.

#4: A bag of Popcorn

Not just a tasty snack, Popcorn has also been used in a weapon in WWE.

A staple of cinemas around the world, Popcorn may take the crown as the ultimate movie-going treat.

Amongst its accolades, the humble kernel is the official snack of Illinois, and can expand to over 30 times it's un-popped form, though few people see the salty-sweet treat as a dangerous weapon.

In 1999 though, Mankind used popcorn to it's fullest extent, using the snack during Halftime Heat against The Rock. A bizarre weapon to say the least, the popcorn was a bit of light-hearted comedy in a feud that had gotten increasingly violent with every encounter.

Though the use of popcorn seems like an odd choice of weapon, you can't argue with results, as Foley would go on to win the bout, and in doing so, would capture his second WWF Championship.

#3: A mannequin head

Snow and Head would become a formidable team together, and gained a huge following by the crowd.

Despite never being World or Intercontinental Champion, Al Snow may be one of the most recognisable stars of the Attitude Era.

And though Snow was an accomplished athlete, it is his character work that made the Hardcore star so infamous.

After a series of questionable gimmicks, including becoming Leif Cassidy as part of The New Rockers and as the masked ninja Avatar, Snow would lose his mind, become deranged and go everywhere with a mannequin head.

As you can imagine, Head became quite the versatile weapon in Snow's career, helping the deranged star capture the Hardcore championship on multiple occasions.

In ECW, Fans would wave their own styrofoam mannequin heads in the crowd, creating some incredible visuals and proving just how popular both Snow and his friend became across various promotions.

#2: A potted plant

Being a WWE Superstar can be a stressful profession, with the risk of injuries and being away from home constantly weighing on a competitor's mind.

One method some people use to reduce stress is a spot of gardening, though, in 2016, Dean Ambrose found that this wasn't the case for him.

After replacing Chris Jericho's 'Highlight Reel' with his own 'Ambrose Asylum' talk show, the Lunatic Fringe was accompanied by Mitch, a potted plant that added a certain 'sophistication' to the show.

After Ambrose defeated the irate Y2J at Payback, Mitch would make his final appearance in WWE on the May 1, 2016 edition of RAW, where he was used as a weapon. Seizing the opportunity, Jericho would crack the potted plant over Ambrose's head, bringing an end to one of the greatest careers a ficus has ever had in wrestling.

#1: Mad Dog Vachon's prosthetic leg

Mad Dog was an imposing force in the ring, and had his leg used in 1996.

In case you've not heard of Maurice 'Mad Dog' Vachon, the Hall of Famer had an epic career, spanning three decades before hanging up his boots in September 1986.

Nearly a decade later though, Vachon would return to the spotlight, sitting in the front row at In Your House 7, and played a huge part in the main event.

Though he didn't get physical in the title bout between WWF Champion Shawn Michaels and Diesel, part of him did, as the seven-footer would at one point rip off Vachon's prosthetic leg to use as a weapon.

Showing no good deed goes unpunished, HBK dodged the leg, and used it himself to defeat Diesel and retain the title.

The last WWF match of Kevin Nash before departing for WCW, the match also saw possibly the weirdest weapon of all time.
