5 WWE Hall of Famers who have appeared in ICW

Some big names have appeared in ICW!
Some big names have appeared in ICW!

"Unconventional. Outrageous. Outlandish. Extreme."

Four words that well and truly define ICW.

However, you only need one.

"Insane."

For anyone unfamiliar with Insane Championship Wrestling, the Glasgow-based promotion has gone from putting on shows in front of 20 people in Maryhill to selling out the 5,000-capacity SECC and putting on monumental shows at Glasgow's 11,000-capacity SSE Hydro.

You can jump on the bandwagon or get run the f*** over!

The promotion is the brain-child of founder Mark Dallas, and has seen some of the biggest names from around the world compete in an ICW ring, and no less than 40 WWE Superstars.

The likes of Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black, Killian Dain, Wolfgang, Joe Coffey, Piper Niven and Noam Dar have spent time as staples of the promotion, with the likes of Finn Balor, Ricochet, Mickie James, Kushida, Toni Storm, Sarah Logan, Mark Andrews, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, and many others appearing in an ICW ring!

#5 Kurt Angle

Back in 2016, Insane Championship Wrestling welcomed an Olympic Gold Medallist to the promotion for the very first time, as WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle didn't just show up in the promotion, he took on NXT UK star and current number one contender to the ICW World Heavyweight Championship Joe Coffey at the 11,000-seater venue, Glasgow's SSE Hydro.

Joe Coffey picked up the win on the night, making Angle tap out to the No Mercy - but there's no doubt that the WWE legend's appearance was one of the true stories of the night. We actually caught up with Joe Coffey to chat about the match and much more recently, which you can check out here.

Kurt Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

#4 The Dudley Boyz

The Dudley Boyz also competed at the very same show!

Much in the same vein as Kurt Angle, The Dudley Boyz graced the ICW ring with their presence back in 2016 at the very same event at SSE Hydro.

Fear & Loathing IX saw the WWE Hall of Famers and one of the most decorated tag teams in the history of professional wrestling when they unsuccessfully challenged Polo Promotions for the ICW Tag Team Championships - but of course, Bubba and D-Von didn't leave quietly, putting Davey Blaze through a table before taking their leave!

D-Von would retire from in-ring action shortly after, making this one of his final matches to WWE shortly afterwards as a producer while Bully Ray would continue his in-ring career and sign with Ring of Honor.

The Dudley Boyz would go on to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6, 2018, when the ECW legends were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Edge and Christian, and also brought Matt and Jeff Hardy on stage to reunite the six original innovators of the TLC Match one last time - and, of course, put a stagehand through a table.

#3 Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett appeared as commissioner!

Class of 2018 WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett made quite the impact at Shug's Hoose Party 5 when he re-introduced a certain ICW legend in Grado back to the fold.

Well, the former ICW World Heavyweight Champion told us all about it when he joined me for Dropkick DiSKussions.

Whenever I was in America, I was always round at Jarrett's gaff. I was there with his family, spent a lot of time with him over the summer two years ago, so for him to introduce me back was brilliant.

I love that video, watching back, just when he's got the Hall of Fame jacket, like "I got a guy and he's from Steven-ston!"

Honestly, the best feeling in the world!

And in fact, JJ would also appear at ICW Fear & Loathing XI, where he would betray his friend, setting up a match that never was.

I'm really close to Jeff. Obviously I've not been as close to him recently because, right now, he's
Vince McMahon's
right-hand man. He's on his jet, he's with him every day, so I don't get to talk to him as much because obviously the situation with WWE, he's no longer available because the plan was for me and JJ at Fear & Loathing.

Sadly, Jeff Jarrett was set to wrestle against Jackie Polo in ICW recently, but KUSHIDA would replace the Hall of Famer on the card - but Double J did leave a lasting impression...

#2 Mick Foley

Mick Foley made his mark in ICW!
Mick Foley made his mark in ICW!

And perhaps the Hall of Famer who played the biggest role in ICW - the Hardcore Legend Mick Foley!

Mick Foley was the first man to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame out of everyone on our list, being a part of the Class of 2013, and his role in Insane Championship Wrestling well and truly cements his place in the history of the promotion.

When ICW sold out the 5,000-capacity SECC, they did so off their own merit. There were a few global names there, but Grado vs Drew McIntyre (then Galloway) was one of the hottest feuds in wrestling. The culmination at Fear & Loathing VIII was hotly anticipated, and the addition of Mick Foley to the card as Commissioner only heightened the excitement.

Well, Foley definitely played his part in helping Grado even up the numbers to win the ICW World Heavyweight Championship in front of a sold-out crowd!

#1 Triple H

And there could only be one name at number one - The Game!

Triple H well and truly shocked the ICW crowd when he turned up in Cardiff to endorse the Glasgow-based promotion, nipping out from an NXT show that was happening nearby to confirm himself as a "friend" of ICW.

Triple H hasn't yet been inducted into the Hall of Fame as a singles wrestler, possibly due to his official capacity in the company, but he was inducted as part of D-Generation X just earlier this year.

The WWE COO may not have been involved in any storyline capacity, but everything Triple H does is news, and endorsing any company that isn't WWE is major.

So if it's good enough for The Game, it's definitely a bandwagon worth jumping on - before you get, in the words of Mark Dallas, run the f*** over!
