The upcoming Royal Rumble event will emanate from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This will be the 30th anniversary of the event and will officially kick off the road to Wrestlemania 34.

The Royal Rumble is one of WWE's "Big Four", along with WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series, and is one of the most anticipated shows of the year due to its unpredictability, and surprise returns, that has been synonymous with the event.

Furthermore, it is at this stage that a number of records have been set with some standing the test of time. For the past 29 years that the Royal Rumble event has been in existence, a number of records have been set and broken. However, there are accomplishments that are yet to be broken in this event. These records have cemented the legacies of the superstars who set them.

We take a look at the five Royal Rumble records that are yet to broken:

#5 Kane - 44 cumulative Royal Rumble eliminations

Kane is a three-time world champion and a 12-time world tag team champion, and is also a two-time Intercontinental Champion and a 2010 Money in the Bank winner. The "Big Red Machine" is, therefore, an accomplished wrestler and is guaranteed a future hall of fame induction.

Kane joined the WWE in 1995 where he played various characters before he was repackaged as the "demon" Kane in 1997. In 2015, The Rolling Stone named him the Most Underappreciated Performer. He has been a dominant performer during his long tenure and still has gas in the tank to go for another year or two.

It is at the Royal Rumble that Kane has been most dominant. He has made 19 appearances in the Royal Rumble match and has eliminated the most number of people, a cumulative of 44 eliminations. His best performance was at the 2001 Royal Rumble event where he had 11 eliminations and eliminated all of the wrestlers who came between No. 7 to 11.

This record has put Kane into the history books, and it is one that is not likely to be broken anytime soon since the only active wrestler close to this feat is Triple H who stands at 33 eliminations. If Kane competes in next year's event, his cumulative eliminations will likely increase.

#4 Rey Mysterio - 1:02:12 spent in a single Royal Rumble

Rey Mysterio is no longer part of the WWE

Rey Mysterio holds the record for longest time spent in a single Royal Rumble at 62 minutes and 12 seconds, breaking the record that was previously held by Chris Benoit at 1:01:30 in the 2004 event. A future WWE Hall of Famer, Mysterio was pushed as the "biggest little man" in WWE and had the tendency of accomplishing feats against all odds.

He held numerous titles over the course of his career including the World Heavyweight Championship, WWE Championship and the Intercontinental Championship.

It is at the 2006 Royal Rumble that Rey Mysterio made a name for himself. He was the number two entrant and went on to last 62 minutes to win the match by eliminating Randy Orton and also made history by recording the longest time spent in a single Rumble match.

During the match, he had six eliminations - eliminating Psicosis, Simon Dean, Rob Van Dam, Super Crazy and Triple H. Following the win, Mysterio went to Wrestlemania and participated in a Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight title against Kurt Angle and Randy Orton.

#3 Chyna - Two Royal Rumble entries -- most by a female Superstar

Chyna was a founding member of D-Generation X and held the Women's Championship once. She is also remembered as the only woman to have won the Intercontinental Championship. In addition, she boasted singles victories over several prominent male wrestlers including multiple-time world champions Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and Jeff Jarrett.

Chyna was the first woman to ever participate in the Royal Rumble in 1999. She also participated in the 2000 Royal Rumble making her a two-time participant, a feat that has never been accomplished by any other woman wrestler. In order to participate in the 1999 Royal Rumble, Chyna won a Corporation vs. DX "Corporate Rumble" for the number 30 spot on January 11, 1999, edition of Raw Is War.

She went on to participate in the Rumble match and eliminated Mark Henry who had lasted for almost 8 minutes. At the 2000 Royal Rumble, she was drawn number 17 and went on to eliminate Chris Jericho.

#2 Roman Reigns - 12 eliminations in a single Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns holds the record for most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble match, eliminating 12 men in the 2014 Royal Rumble match. The match was eventually won by Batista, but it is the performance put by Reigns which caught the eye.

He broke a record that was held by Kane for 13 years which stood at 11 eliminations until Reigns broke it in 2014. Reigns lasted 33 minutes and 51 seconds in the 2014 match before being eliminated by Batista.

That same year, Roman Reigns was heavily pushed as a singles wrestler and was inserted into world title contention in June. He later headlined multiple pay-per-view events, and since then, "The Big Dog" has headlined three Wrestlemanias in a row.

He has been groomed to take over from John Cena as the face of the WWE despite the critics' disapproval. One thing is for sure, his record number of eliminations in the Royal Rumble is going to be difficult to beat.

#1 Stone Cold Steve Austin - 3 Royal Rumble victories

Stone Cold was inducted into the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame

Stone Cold first won the Royal Rumble at the 1997 event when he eliminated Bret Hart. He had an impressive showing in that Royal Rumble as he lasted 45 minutes and had 10 eliminations. In the 1998 Royal Rumble, he won the match after he eliminated The Rock, and went on to capture the WWE title for the first time at Wrestlemania that year when he defeated Shawn Michaels.

With that win, he cemented himself as the face of the organisation as he led the WWE in ushering in the Attitude Era. Steve Austin also won the 2001 Royal Rumble after eliminating Kane, who had made 11 eliminations. This led to his second Wrestlemania encounter with the Rock.

The other Superstars close to breaking this record are John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Batista and Triple H, all with two wins apiece.
