The Phenom's new contract has had a major effect on his career.

Everyone loves a good rumor, right? Something to talk about with other people over a water cooler. In WWE, everything moves so fast. Not just the WWE roster in the ring, but also all the latest news and rumors that reach the public every single day.

With this week's programming just hours away, the company will be hoping for an epic event, en route to the biggest party of the summer, Summerslam.

Here are five WWE rumors from this week that you really need to know.

Note: Please remember that these rumors are just that, rumors. Please take each one with a grain of salt. Though some may seem more likely than others, they are just something to have a bit of fun with.

#5: Who attacked the Big Dog?

Reigns was ambushed by an unknown assailant during this week's SmackDown Live.

This week's edition of SmackDown Live ended on a shocking note, as Roman Reigns was supposed to issue a challenge for Summerslam, only to be crushed by some falling metal beams. Though WWE has since said that the incident was because of a forklift driver, the question still remains: who was driving the forklift, and was this 'accident', intentional?

According to the Wrestling Observer this week, Reigns' attacker will be revealed as Daniel Bryan, as the publication noted that the two are set to meet at Summerslam. After losing the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Extreme Rules, Bryan said he would need to aim higher from now on, and there are few Superstars higher on WWE's totem pole than the Big Dog.

Fans with a good memory will recall Bryan successfully operating a forklift during his WWE World title match at Extreme Rules 2014 against Kane, making the Yes! Man a prime suspect.

#4: Real reason for Bischoff and Heyman's return

In 2019, the WWE has undergone some major changes, with the recent introduction of Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as Executive Directors of RAW and SmackDown Live respectively being one of the biggest.

Whilst both men are ultimately answering to company Chairman Vince McMahon, the new role allows the former promoters a lot of creative control on WWE TV, which the company is hoping will turn around their slumping ratings.

According to the Wrestling Observer this week, bringing in the pair was more a business decision than a creative one, as WWE wanted to prove they were doing something to change for the better. The report said the following:

"WWE wanted to show stockholders that they were making significant structural changes to offset questions about the popularity declines"

What these changes mean in the long run remain to be seen, though it seems WWE's content has improved in the past few weeks.

#3: More matches to be added to Summerslam

McIntyre and Alexander could face off once again at WWE Summerslam.
McIntyre and Alexander could face off once again at WWE Summerslam.

It's officially August now, and in WWE, that means preparing for the biggest party of the summer: Summerslam. For 30 years, the seasonal Pay Per View has provided great matches, and this year's show is expected to do the same in just seven days.

Whilst many huge matches have already been announced, including bouts for both the WWE and Universal titles, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that there are several matches that haven't been announced, but have been listed in WWE as contests at the event.

According to the report, Roman Reigns vs. a mystery opponent, a Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles, Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak vs. Oney Lorcan, and Drew McIntyre vs. Cedric Alexander are all slated for the show, which will take place next Sunday in Toronto.

#2: Matches that won't be taking place at Summerslam

Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura isn't expected to defend his gold at the Pay Per View.
Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura isn't expected to defend his gold at the Pay Per View.

As of the time of writing, nine matches have been announced for the upcoming SummerSlam Pay Per View, and if the previous report is true, this number is set to grow to 13. While long WWE events are nothing new, it seems that adding any more than this would be overkill, as several matches fans were expecting haven't been announced.

According to the same report by Wrestling Observer, Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura won't be defending his title, despite speculation that he would be facing Ali.

Similarly, both the new RAW Tag Team Champions, The OC, and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods) will reportedly not be defending their gold at the show, according to an internal list circulating in WWE.

#1: The Deadman there for life

For nearly 30 years, The Undertaker has been a staple of WWE, competing through era after era, being a part of some of the biggest moments in the company's history and rightly earning himself a vast legion of fans. With such a legacy, it's hard to imagine the Demon of Death Valley appearing anywhere else, and it seems WWE has the same idea.

Recently, the Phenom signed a new contract with WWE, and though the Observer has said it is not a lifetime contract, it pretty much is:

"The new deal Undertaker signed, while not exactly a lifetime contract, is so long that for all intents and purposes it is”

This may have come around due to the Deadman's cancelled appearance at Starrcast, as it seems the former Champion isn't going to be making any non-WWE appearances anytime soon.
