5 WWE stars who could face AJ Styles at Crown Jewel

Earlier today, WWE announced that a 20-man Battle Royal match will take place at the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV in Saudi Arabia, and the winner of the Battle Royal will go on to face AJ Styles for the U.S. title later in the night.

No talents have been announced for the battle royal match as of yet, but the bout booking is interesting considering the PPV card has been largely filled out with talents and matches. As of this writing, matches for the Crown Jewel event include Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez, Braun Strowman vs Tyson Fury, Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt, Mansoor vs Cesaro, a Tag Team Turmoil match, and Team Hogan vs Team Flair.

With so many matches already set for the show, there aren't many top talents left to feature in the Battle Royal match, so let's take a look at 5 WWE stars who could face AJ Styles after winning the Crown Jewel Battle Royal.

#5 Buddy Murphy

Buddy Murphy, who appeared to be in the running for a push earlier this year, stalled somewhat in the months leading up to the 2019 WWE Draft, however, it looks like Murphy once again might be poised for another push now that he is a permanent member of the RAW roster.

Fans might not necessarily predict a U.S. title change at the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV, but with both Buddy Murphy and AJ Styles being members of the RAW roster, it's certainly possible that a name like Buddy Murphy could win the Battle Royal match and go on to score an upset win over Styles at Crown Jewel, bringing the title back with him to RAW. Murphy vs Styles could be a great long-term feud for Murphy to help get the former Cruiserweight Champion over and established on Monday nights.

#4 Andrade

Now a permanent member of the RAW roster, Andrade, along with his manager Zelina Vega, has no announced plans for the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel PPV, so it's likely he will be one of the competitors in the Battle Royal match.

While Andrade might seem to be an unlikely pick to win the match, setting up an even unlikelier heel vs heel match in Andrade vs AJ Styles, the bout would certainly be in an in-ring spectacle, and one the fans in Saudi Arabia might get behind.

Andrade is coming off a big win against Sin Cara on RAW this week, and with fans predicting a U.S. title change might not be in store for the Crown Jewel PPV, it might be a good idea to book Andrade vs Styles to reinforce the excellent in-ring skills of Andrade. Not to mention, Zelina Vega is very talented acting as Andrade's manager, so a promo from the Fighting with My Family co-star on a platform like Crown Jewel, could be a great momentum boost for both Vega and Andrade, although there might be issues with that, given Saudi Arabia's issues with women performing.

Finally, Andrade is a talent who has been lost in limbo ever since he made his debut on the WWE main roster, so now is a good time to pull the trigger on a solid push for the talented, former NXT standout.

#3 The Miz

The Miz

Despite being drafted to SmackDown on last week's WWE Draft, The Miz could be an ideal choice to face AJ Styles at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel PPV.

It remains unknown how WWE plans to book this year's Survivor Series PPV, and should the company avoid the typical direction of the event, which is usually booked as a RAW vs SmackDown PPV, Crown Jewel might be the last opportunity this year for a RAW vs SmackDown singles title bout.

The Miz has not been announced for a role at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel PPV, so he will likely be named as a competitor in the Battle Royal match alongside 19 other WWE stars. If Miz wins the bout, the classic babyface vs heel match between Miz and Styles could be a fresh bout that Saudi fans could get behind.

WWE could even decide to surprise fans with a win for The Miz, setting up a conflict with both the U.S. and Intercontinental titles both being on SmackDown. WWE could resolve the title issue at the next PPV, by having either a RAW star win the IC title or have AJ Styles win the U.S. title back.

#2 Cedric Alexander

Cedric Alexander

Probably one of the most logical choices to face AJ Styles for the title at WWE Crown Jewel is Cedric Alexander, who has been on a quest to win the title from Styles for the last few months.

Towards the middle of the Summer, rumors swirled regarding a major push for Cedric Alexander on RAW, as the new Executive Director Paul Heyman is reportedly a big fan of the former Cruiserweight Champion. However, Alexander has had numerous opportunities to win the U.S. title from Styles and has always come out on the losing end of the fight.

It seems as if current rumors indicate that Cedric Alexander might have fallen out of favor with Vince McMahon, and the boss might have made the call to curtail Alexander's push on the main roster and RAW. Alexander remained a member of the RAW roster following the 2019 Draft, so he could conceivably finally defeat AJ Styles at Crown Jewel and bring the title back to RAW, but it remains to be seen whether or not WWE is committed to renewing any kind of push for the talented former 205 Live Superstar.

We have seen great matches between Alexander and AJ Styles in the past, so another bout could be a great cap to the months-long feud.

#1 Humberto Carrillo

This past Monday night on RAW, newcomer Humberto Carrillo made quite the name for himself when he battled, and nearly defeated, WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins in a non-title match.

Carrillo was previously a member of the 205 Live roster but following the Draft, Carrillo was sent to the RAW brand and he made his in-ring debut this week.

A great way to follow-up on Carrillo's impressive debut on RAW this week would be to award him with a Battle Royal match win at WWE Crown Jewel, so the talented young star can keep his momentum going strong. A win would give Carrillo the opportunity to have a great match against a technical master such as AJ Styles, and the combo of facing Rollins and Styles only a few weeks apart could be great for the rookie Carrillo.

Humberto Carrillo certainly was not going to unseat the current WWE Universal Champion, but he could conceivably win the U.S. title at Crown Jewel, and kick off his RAW run with a title win.
