"The Phenomenal One" AJ Styles is a Superstar both inside the ring and outside of it. He’s immensely over with the WWE Universe and popular amongst the WWE Superstars too. Styles is a pillar of the wrestling industry and well respected because of it.

However, despite being an influential figure, Styles has humility that shines brightly through his aura. It’s that humility that’s made him accessible to all the Superstars on this list. To be honest, this list could have gone on for pages and pages, but we have chosen the wrestlers who are closest to the former WWE Champion.

Some of the names on this list were people Styles started his career with, others he’s only spent a few years with. But the one thing they all have in common is that they’ve become phenomenally close to "The Phenomenal One".

Here are 5 WWE superstars AJ Styles is good friends with:

#5 Xavier Woods

You may have seen the duo together on UpUpDownDown a few times, but their friendship stretches longer than that. Many seem to look at the New Day member and think his wrestling career doesn’t go beyond the exploits of WWE and outside, wrong; Woods has had an extensive career outside of Vince’s company.

In TNA, Styles was always the go-to guy and whilst he was on top, a certain man called Consequences Creed was also trying to establish himself. Woods was even given the honour of teaming with Styles a few times on TV.

Woods claims those valuable rubs helped him make the step over into WWE, thus paving his career. Now the two regularly hang out together to play video games on the road!

#4 Bobby Roode

AJ Styles and Bobby Roode have only faced each other twice

AJ Styles is the first TNA Original to win the WWE Championship. He’s become a footnote in history that’s paved the way for other TNA Superstars to make that leap of faith. Many a WWE Superstar has left the WWE to make headway in TNA, while AJ Styles has bucked that trend in emphatic fashion, even beating John Cena on his way to it.

He’s become an inspiration to the likes of Bobby Roode and the two are even close friends. For several years, Roode & Styles competed to be the top star in TNA, pushed each other to the limit in terms of wrestling & promo performances.

It was a rivalry built on competition, respect and friendship. Roode can rest well knowing that he’s the longest ever reigning TNA World champion, something that Styles doesn't have on his CV. But in the same breath, Styles won the WWE title, so they’re even.

In their time in TNA, Styles & Roode became close and the Glorious one was deeply upset with Styles for leaving for New Japan in 2014. But he accepted his decision was for career progression, not greed.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura

Styles and Nakamura revolutionised the wrestling business in Japan. They both main evented countless events, raising the bar higher at each event. Such was their chemistry and in-ring symmetry, that when Styles decided to leave, Nakamura followed suit.

Their drive to be the best pushed each other to the limits, allowing them to regularly meet behind the scenes and discuss how they were going to elevate the brand.

Now over in America, they regularly hang out together, giving each other tips on how to best translate their skills to the American market. They’ve dominated Japan together and for the next decade or so, they’ll dominate the WWE in a similar fashion.

#2 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe and AJ Styles have been friends from the start of their careers

Styles may have been the first TNA original to win a WWE title match, but Samoa Joe had been in the company seven months before him. The two have literally been pushing each other for a decade before the WWE and they’re still doing it today.

They’ve literally known each other from the start of their careers. The duo were part of the original four, which included Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels. However, now that the two are the only ones in the WWE, it’s inevitable they’ll become even closer.

The whole wrestling world is waiting for these two to have their Wrestlemania moment together, as good friends always produce the most epic of moments in matches.

#1 Karl Anderson

Styles with the Club on RAW
AJ Styles and Karl Anderson met in Japan

Karl Anderson on many an occasion has referred to "The Phenomenal One" as his best friend outside of the ring. The two became close when Styles replaced Finn Balor in the Bullet Club back in Japan. Ever since then, the two have become inseparable and Anderson stated his decision to come to the WWE was heavily influenced by AJ Styles.

Since then, Styles has mentored him and guided his career path in the USA. That’s why he was so incensed that the Club were split up during the 2016 draft. Regardless, they’ve been able to catch up outside of the ring despite not travelling together.

The two have a bond that can’t be broken. It’ll be the Club against the world for as long they’re both breathing.
