5 WWE Superstars who married former WCW stars

The rich and storied history of WWE is filled with pro-wrestlers who got married to each other in real life. WWE demands an incredibly hectic schedule that requires Superstars to be on the road for the better part of the year. It's not exactly surprising that being together for a long time in one go tends to lead to lifelong friendships and relationships.

Back in the mid to late 90s, WCW was doing very well in terms of ratings, and many felt at one point that it would take WWE out of business. Despite both companies being arch-rivals at the time, a string of wrestlers were good friends with each other.

Wrestlers jumping ship from both sides at the time led to new friendships and relationships forming in real life. Over the next few years, we saw a bunch of WWE Superstars tying the knot with wrestlers who were former WCW employees. In this list, we will take a look at five such WWE Superstars.

#5 Beth Phoenix married Edge

Before he made a name for himself in WWE as The Rated-R Superstar, WWE Hall of Famer Edge had a very brief stint in WCW at one point during the 90s. In February 1996, Edge took on one of the fiercest wrestlers to ever grace the ring, Meng. He was dubbed as Damon Striker at the time.

Soon after, Edge made his way to WWE and soon became one of the most popular mid-card acts in the company, along with Christian. The duo went on to leave WrestleMania 16 and 17 as Tag Team Champions, following grueling encounters against the likes of Dudley Boyz and Hardy Boyz.

Edge met Beth Phoenix while in WWE, and went on to marry her in 2016. Phoenix, a Hall of Famer herself, was involved in Edge and Randy Orton's heated feud on the road to WrestleMania 36 this year. The couple has two daughters together.

#4 Torrie Wilson married Billy Kidman

Torrie Wilson is regarded as one of the most popular Divas in WWE history. Her WWE debut came in June 2001, when she appeared as a part of The Alliance, during the infamous Invasion angle. Despite never having won a title belt in her WWE career, Torrie managed to leave a mark in the industry and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019.

Torrie dated fellow WWE Superstar Billy Kidman for four years, before the duo got hitched in July 2003. Torrie's hectic schedule led to the couple getting divorced in 2008. Interestingly, Torrie and Kidman were an on-screen couple during the former's brief stint with WCW, before it went down.

Kidman was a popular Cruiserweight star during his five-year run in WCW, having won the belt on three occasions. While in WWE, Torrie and Kidman formed an alliance at the Rebellion 2002 show, to take on John Cena and Dawn Marie in a winning effort. Wilson got married to Justin Tupper, the CEO of Revolution Golf, last year.

#3 Michelle McCool married The Undertaker

Back in the late 80s, Mark Calaway had a brief stint in WCW, as "Mean Mark" Callous. Contrary to his WWE stint, this run left a lot to be desired and he didn't do much of note during the stint. One instance from his WCW run does stand out decades later. Mean Mark wrestled WCW legend Sting in WCW, back in 1990. Both wrestlers went on to become two of the biggest Superstars in the business, and many fans are clamoring to this day for a dream match between the two.

Calaway went on to sign with WWE in late 1990, where he donned the gimmick of The Undertaker and turned into an in-ring legend over the next three decades. In 2010, The Undertaker tied the knot with fellow WWE Superstar, Michelle McCool. A 2-time Women's Champion, McCool was a mainstay in the Women's division around a decade ago.

On the road to WrestleMania 36, AJ Styles mentioned her while berating The Deadman, but The Undertaker had the last laugh when he buried Styles alive at The Show of Shows.

#2 Stone Cold Steve Austin married Debra

Stone Cold Steve Austin, a former WCW star himself, got romantically involved with Debra in 1998, soon after she jumped to WWE. The couple moved together, two years later. Debra had a 2-year stint in WCW in the mid-90s, which saw her managing her real-life husband, Steve McMichael. She turned on McMichael at Bash At The Beach 1997, by aiding Jeff Jarrett in retaining the WCW US title.

Debra and McMichael got divorced in 1998, soon after which she left WCW. She aligned with Jarrett again after joining WWE. During her WWE run, Debra won the Women's title on one occasion. She was involved in the rivalry between The Rock and Stone Cold on the road to WrestleMania 17, when Mr. McMahon appointed her as the former's on-screen manager.

Debra left the promotion in June 2002 with Stone Cold, with the latter walking out on WWE and refusing to lose to Brock Lesnar on an episode of RAW. The couple got divorced in early 2003.

#1 Stephanie McMahon married Triple H

Stephanie McMahon was introduced to the WWE Universe during the Attitude Era and was involved in an angle with The Undertaker at the start of her career. The storyline saw Stephanie being kidnapped by The Deadman, who was doing his heinous deeds on the orders of a "Higher Power". The sinister entity was later revealed as Mr. McMahon himself. Stephanie went on to become a mainstay on WWE TV and won the WWE Women's title on one occasion.

Triple H signed with WWE in 1995, after wrestling in WCW for a short period. He went on to become one of the biggest Superstars in the history of this business and was romantically involved with Stephanie in real life.

Triple H and Stephanie got married on-screen, before their actual marriage, and were divorced in storyline in 2002. In October 2003, Stephanie and Triple H got married, for which the latter was written off WWE TV, marking the end of her reign as SmackDown GM. They have three daughters together.
