5 WWE Superstars That Need To Be Fired

Big Show has nothing left to prove and very little to offer
Big Show has nothing left to prove and very little to offer

No matter what type of business or industry you work in, there are two things that happen within every company on the face of the earth, employees are hired and employees are fired. Just as there's a need to create a stable workforce and have a staff that is invested in the long-term betterment of the company, there will always be a time and a place in which you have to simply trim the fat, so to speak.

Whether it be due to incompetence, or lack of effort, or maybe just a mutual agreement that it's time to move on. There's also those times when it doesn't make sense, from a financial standpoint to keep a particular staff member. Regardless of the circumstance, we've all either been fired, or know someone who has been fired. While it's not a pleasant topic of discussion, it is a topic that has to be brought up, from time to time.

When it comes to professional wrestling, the average length of a superstar’s career can range anywhere from 7 years to 15 years and beyond, depending on several factors, including booking, need, adaptability and most importantly, skill level. With that said, the WWE currently has a long list of signed talent between both main rosters, the current active NXT roster, as well as the NXT rookies that are in-training.

Never before has the company had such a stacked set of rosters, which allows for a lot of much-needed diversity, in terms of how the booking process is done. Simply put, if one idea doesn't work, they have more than enough resources to move on to plan B, plan C, D and so on. Vince McMahon and company have a very good problem on their hands, by having more than enough talent on the payroll.

Every year, usually around early-to-mid May, there's a very tense period amongst the WWE locker rooms. Some call it WWE's version of "Black Friday." It's a period of time in which WWE's powers that be crunch numbers, evaluate talent and make the difficult decision of who stays and who goes. While most of the WWE Superstars keep a job, there are some who are wished well on their future endeavours.

This year, Damien Sandow was one of the unexpected names called to the carpet and given his marching orders. This is proof that when the time comes, no one is completely safe from that dreaded call to the office.

Despite there being a process in place by which the company releases select talent, there are still those who slide through the cracks. There are some who probably need to be let go, but for one reason or another, they live to see another undeserved day as a WWE Superstar. This is a look at 5 of those WWE Superstars who deserve to be let go.

#5 Big Show

Look, I get it. Big Show is a living legend to some folks and more likely than not, he's a future WWE Hall of Famer. Nonetheless, at 44 years old, his giant body is no longer to take the abuse it once was. I'm not negating the achievements that Big Show has under his belt, I'm just implying that it's time to put this old dog down.

During his time with WCW as The Giant, he was a huge name, pun intended. He feuded with the who's who of the top of the food chain and won world championships. He also earned his way into the arms of the infamous New World Order. Once he made it to the WWE, Show still had a good run, but as the years passed by, Big Show has slowed down tremendously and his contributions have ground to a near halt.

All of this is understandable and I will never question his accolades over the course of his career, nor will I question his love for the business. However, Big Show has a big salary, one of the highest salaries of all superstars. He also has special perks, such as his own bus.

Maybe he shouldn't be dropped off the face of the WWE map, but it is absolutely time to use that significant salary towards other needs and wish him well on his future endeavors, whether it be elsewhere, or perhaps staying aboard as a coach for NXT, a brand ambassador or whatever the need may be that he could fit into. It's just time for the Big Show to hang those size 22 boots up for good.

#4 Brie Bella

Brie has made her intentions obvious.
Brie has made her intentions obvious.

Yes, believe it or not, Brie Bella is still on the WWE payroll. Back in April, Brie announced that she would be "taking a break" from in-ring action, so she could focus on her family life and possibly having a baby. Meanwhile, she was allowed to remain with the WWE as an ambassador. Really? An ambassador? So, she decides she wants to go be a housewife, but the WWE is still willing to pay her, so they call her and ambassador. What a joke. It has become increasingly evident over the past few years that Brie has no desire to compete any longer. She wants to sit at home, grow herbs, play with her dog and pop out little Brainiel babies.

The bottom line of this situation all goes back to the success of Total Divas. Not only that but now she has a new show premiering in a few days, which centres around Brie and Nikki. Had it not been for reality television, it's likely that both Bella's would've been long gone, especially with the current level of women's talent in the WWE.

#3 Mojo Rawley

Maybe on the independent scene, but not the WWE

There are those who are born with it, there are those who learn it and there are those who just can't grasp it at all. No matter how much time and energy you put into training and developing him, Mojo Rawley will always attempt to put the square peg in the round hole. While he certainly has the energy and desire to be a successful WWE Superstar, he just lacks that ever elusive "it factor," which no amount of desire, nor training will ever get you.

Mojo came to the WWE after failed attempts at making it in the NFL. He signed in mid-2012 and made his in-ring debut in 2013. Mojo was loved by the NXT fans who religiously come to tapings on a regular basis. But, his skill level has yet to catch up to his high energy. With the current run as one-half of The Hype Bros, it is my opinion that the only thing being accomplished is the burial of Zack Ryder.

Mojo Rawley might very well succeed with a smaller company, or maybe on the indie scene. He's just not WWE material, no matter how you spin it.

#2 Curtis Axel

I've always been a fan of this guy, but it's just not working

I'll be honest, this one hurts to admit. If you know me, or if you've followed my work for a while, you probably know that I have always been a strong, unwavering supporter of Curtis Axel. I've often debated his value in wrestling forums and random social media posts. Honestly speaking, Axel has a plethora of untapped potential. He has a strong family bloodline of legendary wrestlers, with his grandfather and father both being highly successful during their respective eras.

Unfortunately for Curtis, he just hasn't been able to put the pieces together. I can't explain why, or what has happened or what have you. All I know, is that Axel has been pushed, with Paul Heyman in his corner and the Intercontinental Championship around his waist, yet was still unable to get over and reach the level expected from him.

At 37 years old, it's time to cut their losses with Axel and let him move on. Especially if Curtis still has a desire to wrestle. If he's let go now, he still has time to jump to another company and take a shot at making a name for himself there, wherever "there" may be.

#1 Eva Marie

Eva Marie

There's never been another signing by the WWE, that has made my skin crawl the way Eva Marie does. Don't get me wrong, she's a beautiful young lady. In fact, she's gorgeous. However, beauty has never translated into talent in professional wrestling and talent is something Eva lacks. Despite receiving additional special training from Brian Kendrick, on top of the best ongoing training she could possibly ask for, with the NXT team at the WWE Performance Center, Eva still can't get the basics down.

Her recent antics on Smackdown have just been further proof of her inability to perform at the level the rest of the ladies are at. It almost looks like the WWE Creative team just doesn't know what to do with her, so they give her this hokie assignment, such as the wardrobe malfunction bit, just hoping that one day, somehow, some way, she will magically learn a move or two and become a real professional wrestler.

Sadly, this is a situation like Brie Bella's, where reality television has taken precedence over the quality of WWE programming. Eva was suspended for violating the WWE Talent Wellness Policy, back in August. Ideally, that should've been her curtain call. However, someone in Stamford still believes she's worth salvaging. I strongly disagree.
