It doesn't matter if you're a longtime pro wrestling fan, or have started watching recently: there are some things that immediately catch your attention. One of those things is the fact that when a bunch of heels are beating up a good guy, another babyface would run in for the save and it would get a good pop out of the crowd.

These saves are one of the most important storyline elements when it comes to wrestling angles, and are always bound to work and fire up the crowd.

On the other hand, there have been some cases where a babyface has come out to save a fellow wrestler, but things didn't turn out the way he or the fans had expected. In the list below, we will take a look at five WWE Superstars who tried to save the day, but failed in the process and ended up paying heavily for the same.

Let's kick off the list with the moment that inspired the whole thing. On this week's Raw, the main event saw Seth Rollins taking on Robert Roode. Rollins won via a DQ after Dolph Ziggler ran in, followed by all three members of The OC. A 5-on-1 attack ensued, but didn't last long as Kane came out to make the save.

Unfortunately for Kane, things didn't work out the way he had wanted, as a familiar music hit, and the arena went dark. Suddenly, The Fiend appeared behind Kane, and put him in the Mandible Claw. The Fiend then set his sights on Rollins, who looked genuinely terrified at the sight of the sinister Superstar. The show ended with a shot of the Firefly Funhouse logo, albeit it was glitching and malfunctioning.

The buildup to the WWE vs Alliance 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Match at the namesake PPV in 2001 gave us a bunch of unforgettable moments. One of these was the incredible ending to an episode of SmackDown. The Rock & Chris Jericho vs Kurt Angle & Stone Cold seemed to be ending in chaos as the villains tried to hurt The Rock with a steel chair.

Suddenly, The Undertaker appeared and attacked Austin. Booker T prevented him from doing much, and he got hit by an Angle Slam. This resulted in pure chaos, as Superstars came out one after the other and hit each other with their finishers.

It didn't end well for the babyfaces though, as Stone Cold hit a Stunner on The Rock and stood tall when the smoke had cleared. The Undertaker and other members of Team WWE, failed to save the day, but eventually won the big one at Survivor Series.

Back in 2003, Stephanie McMahon was forced to compete in a match against A-Train on an episode of SmackDown. As Vince McMahon and Sable watched from the announcers' area, A-Train destroyed Stephanie. As he was about to end things, The Undertaker ran out to make the save and got into a brawl with the villain.

Suddenly, The Big Show came out of nowhere and attacked The Deadman. The 2-on-1 beatdown was too much for Taker. After this, A-Train came back to the ring and finished things off.

At Survivor Series 2014, Team Cena defeated Team Authority after the legendary Sting made his shocking debut in WWE. Soon after, Seth Rollins and his band of villains cooked up a ploy to bring back The Authority, by threatening John Cena on an episode of Raw.

The Big Show forced Edge's head down on the MITB briefcase and Rollins threatened Cena that if he wouldn't bring back The Authority, Edge would eat a Curb Stomp. Cena didn't have a choice and agreed to Rollins' demands.

Rollins still decided to hit the Curb Stomp on Edge and Cena came in to make the save. The numbers game caught up with him, and the segment ended with The Authority coming back and Cena being put down in the middle of the ring.
