5 WWE surprises that could happen in 2019

Could we see a new Shield when 2019 comes around?
Could we see a new Shield when 2019 comes around?

2018 was a year of ups and downs for WWE. While things looked up in terms of stock prices, viewership reached an all-time low, on several occasions. Things seem to be on an upswing, with the McMahons promising that they will listen to the fans, at least under the new regime. Here's how they can make 2019 a very special year for fans.

Of course, you are entitled to your opinions and I want you to voice them in the comments below. Feel free to chime in with surprises that you believe we could see in 2019. What do you think lies in store for us?

2019 could be the year that WWE gives fans exactly what they want. The product could become a household name again.

Here are some suggestions for your reading pleasure.

#5 The New Day breaks up

Every good thing has an expiry date
Every good thing has an expiry date

The New Day was once the hottest act in the company. Especially when they were on a tear, setting the record for the longest title reign in WWE history. But since then, their popularity has fizzled out and they're only a shadow of the act that they were.

2019 may be the year when they decide to go their separate ways and explore individual pursuits. Big E, in particular, has often been dubbed as someone that could do very well as a singles performer. Before the Roman Reigns experiment even began, Big E was supposed to be the man who was chosen to be the face of WWE.

One way to book this turn would be to have one of the New Day members turn on the others and thereby go heel. In my opinion, Big E should take up this role.

#4 A brand new Shield is formed

Balor should certainly be a member of the new Shield
Balor should certainly be a member of the new Shield

The Shield reunited shortly after Roman Reigns won the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2018. It was a great run until Reigns announced to the world that he would no longer be able to compete owing to leukaemia. And then Dean Ambrose turned heel, bringing an end to The Shield forever.

It is far too soon to turn Ambrose face again. Therefore, there's a great opportunity for Rollins to be the architect of a new Shield in 2019. Rollins could find common ground with Finn Balor, and put together the group that everyone loves so much.

Balor could benefit from being associated with the group, considering that he's been booked into the ground previously. The third member could be Elias, or Jeff Hardy, or even AJ Styles if he comes over to RAW from SmackDown Live.

#3 The women's tag team titles are finally announced

And these two women should be the inaugural champions
And these two women should be the inaugural champions

Bayley recently spoke up about why the Women's Tag Team Championships were so important. They give the women not in the title picture currently something to do. Sasha Banks and Bayley have been teaming for a while now and doing exceedingly well as a unit. They deserve the Women's Tag Team titles.

So many other units could benefit from these titles, such as the IIconics as well as Tamina and Nia Jax. The only question is which of the two shows should the titles be on?

In my opinion, RAW is the show that should be host to the titles simply because they have an extra hour of content to fill in. Even the US Championship does not get screen time on SmackDown Live.

Banks and Bayley could certainly benefit from holding these prestigious Championships.

#2 AJ Styles become Universal Champion

It may finally be time to bring AJ Styles to RAW
It may finally be time to bring AJ Styles to RAW

AJ Styles has been the foundation of SmackDown Live, since its very inception. He has been the WWE Champion for a vast duration of his time spent in the brand, and he has to move to RAW, to be booked at the same level that he has been previously. This is because he's practically faced everyone on the blue brand.

By having him move to RAW, AJ Styles has a chance to become part of the elite club of WWE superstars that have held WWE and Universal Championships (that is if you consider the fact that Brock Lesnar has held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship).

Styles is guaranteed to be a top guy upon his move to RAW. We've all seen how much time and effort WWE has invested into him. Could AJ Styles be the man who defeats Lesnar and becomes Universal Champion? Fans will not be upset with such a result.

#1 Lars Sullivan pins Brock Lesnar

Sullivan is one of the call-ups being teased on RAW
Sullivan is one of the call-ups being teased on RAW

We know that Lars Sullivan will be one of the call-ups to the main roster this year. We also know that he's in line for a big push upon his official call-up. What better way to establish yourself than with a win over The Beast Incarnate on pay-per-view? I certainly think this could happen in 2019.

Sullivan is a monster heel and we know that WWE books monster heels right. Look at how well they booked Strowman before turning him babyface and pairing him up with Nicholas. Sullivan and Lesnar, and even Braun Strowman could certainly have big-time programs come 2019.

Sullivan has the look and the physique to seem like a credible threat for Lesnar. If the win does happen, it won't be unbelievable but will get tongues wagging at once.

Also, we wish our readers a very Merry Christmas!
