5 feuds coming out of the 2021 Royal Rumble

Who will be battling each other after the 2021 Royal Rumble?
Who will be battling each other after the 2021 Royal Rumble?

While the winners of both Royal Rumble matches have built-in feuds due to winning their respective battle royals, several other showdowns are coming out of the 2021 Royal Rumble PPV.

Kevin Owens' feud with Roman Reigns is likely over, as is McIntyre's feud with Goldberg over respect. The WWE Legend and the current champ showed each other adulation after McIntyre retained the WWE Championship to open the main show.

Some feuds will likely continue. Edge and Randy Orton started and finished the Royal Rumble match. The Rated-R Superstar will need a blow-off match with Orton on the way to WrestleMania, so WWE could pick that feud back up.

Corbin and the Mysterios continued to battle each other at the PPV, so that could continue too.

Lacey Evans and Charlotte Flair also kept their sparring going during both the Women's Tag Team title match and Royal Rumble. RETRIBUTION vs. the New Day will go on longer since Big E eliminated Mustafa Ali after Ali eliminated Xavier Woods.

Before winning the entire thing, Bianca Belair eliminated Bayley. Will the former SmackDown Women's Champion let that go?

But those are ongoing feuds. Several new match-ups came about due to happenings at the 2021 Royal Rumble PPV. Here are six possible feuds that could spin out of the event.

Some will be immediate, while others will take place at the Show of Shows.

#5 Post-Royal Rumble feud - Braun Strowman vs. AJ Styles

Omos and AJ Styles

One of the sticking points of the 2021 Royal Rumble was that Omos, someone not a part of the Royal Rumble match, eliminated two Superstars on the behalf of AJ Styles. He also saved Styles from elimination on a few occasions.

What he could not do, however, was completely deter the elimination of Styles from the match for its duration. Strowman threw the Phenomenal One over the rope a couple times only for Omos to catch him. The final straw had Strowman go to a side of the ring where Omos was not stood at and toss Styles over the ropes.

When heels are eliminated from the contest, it usually turns into an angle on RAW or SmackDown. Since Omos is a physical specimen on the same level of the Monster Among Men, it seems likely that the two goliaths might be looking each other eye to eye.

Styles and Strowman are two big names on Monday nights and while Omos won't likely have a match, he'll be a featured part of a potential feud. Styles got tossed out of the 2021 Royal Rumble by Strowman and he won't forget that.

#4 Post-Royal Rumble feud - King Corbin vs. almost everyone

Corbin will continue to focus on hurting the faces of SmackDown.
Corbin will continue to focus on hurting the faces of SmackDown.

King Corbin eliminated both Otis and Shinsuke Nakamura in the Royal Rumble and could be headed for a feud with either of those two men. He also continued his targeted hatred of the Mysterio family.

Corbin immediately zoned in on Dominik once the two were in the match together. His end actually came at the hands of Dominik, so that enmity for the Mysterios will continue in the following weeks.

Before Roman Reigns debuted his new persona over the last quarter of 2020, King Corbin was one of the last few true heels in pro wrestling. He has worked hard to get heat from his opponents as well as from the WWE Universe.

In Royal Rumble settings, heels usually target the stars that eliminated them. Since it was Dominik that eliminated King Corbin, he'll still torment the Mysterios.

Since Nakamura has been pushed as one of the faces on SmackDown recently, so that could be another direction for King Corbin. Nakamura was briefly an ally of Corbin at points last year and that could be used in a potential feud. Corbin is one of the best heels in WWE whether fans like him or not.

#3 Post-Royal Rumble feud - Rhea Ripley vs. Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss couldn't transform after everyone attacked her during the Royal Rumble.
Alexa Bliss couldn't transform after everyone attacked her during the Royal Rumble.

One of the big reveals of the 2021 Women's Royal Rumble was Rhea Ripley's involvement. The former NXT Women's Champion had lost a Last Woman Standing match to Raquel Gonzalez at NXT's New Year's Evil a few weeks ago.

It was thought to be Ripley's swan song match for the black-and-gold brand as focus shifted to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments.

Ripley entered the match at No. 14 and was the final person eliminated by winner Bianca Belair. She also had a hand with Belair in eliminating Charlotte Flair from the match. With that elimination, it meant that two recent NXT stars would battle it out for the right to earn a title match at WrestleMania 37.

Alexa Bliss entered the match towards the end of it. After the entire ring attacked her, she was about to go through her "transformation" into her darker persona. But before she could do that, Ripley tossed her out of the ring. Bliss will likely seek revenge for that action going forward, especially if Ripley becomes a permanent member of RAW.

While Bliss could easily target almost anyone on RAW due to their shared history, this could be a first angle for the Nightmare on the main roster. Belair won the Royal Rumble and will likely challenge for the SmackDown Women's belt at the Show of Shows.

That means that the Elimination Chamber could determine the challenger for the RAW Women's title. An ongoing feud between Bliss and Ripley could last for a few months leading up to WM 37.

#2 Post-Royal Rumble feud - Seth Rollins vs. Daniel Bryan

Heading into the Royal Rumble, Daniel Bryan was one of the sentimental favorites to win the match along with winner Edge. He had a run of over 20 minutes and was featured throughout the match. In the end, the returning Seth Rollins eliminated Bryan after waiting for his spot outside of the ring.

Before he took his brief hiatus following Survivor Series, Rollins and Bryan encountered each other following the 2020 WWE Draft. Both men were a part of the SmackDown main event scene but had to bide their time due to Roman Reigns' dominance.

With Rollins apparently still a heel, he'll have to enter into feuds with faces of the blue brand. He's already battled Kevin Owens and Rey Mysterio, so new angles with Bryan, Nakamura, and probably Big E are on the horizon.

Since Rollins will spew his usual rhetoric of the "greater good," he'll be confronted by one of the faces of SmackDown. Bryan is one of the top faces and will probably try to stop the Messiah from trying to further brainwash anyone.

Being eliminated from the Royal Rumble by Rollins will also be a reason for Bryan trying to confront him. All in all, it should be a top-notch showdown on the Road to WrestleMania.

#1 Post-Royal Rumble feud - Feuds for winners Edge and Bianca Belair

Belair was the EST of the 2021 Royal Rumble!
Belair was the EST of the 2021 Royal Rumble!

The two most obvious feuds coming out of any Royal Rumble involve the winners of both marquee matches. Since 2018, that's been two people. With Edge winning for the men and Belair winning for the women, they'll both be heavily featured on the way to the Show of Shows.

Each star will likely have a tune-up feud before WM before their eventual title matches. Since Edge and Randy Orton started and finished the Royal Rumble, they'll have one more match before WM. It could happen at Fastlane or the Elimination Chamber PPV.

After that subsides, Edge will focus his attention on Drew McIntyre. He could go after Roman Reigns, but the Rated-R Superstar has been a RAW star since returning last year. Once he ends the Orton dilemma, look for Edge to shift attention to McIntyre.

As for Belair, she'll probably have a few more matches with Bayley before she eventually challenges for the SmackDown Women's Championship at the Show of Shows. Belair eliminated Bayley during the Royal Rumble and she beat her on the go-home SmackDown. Bayley won't let that go.

The EST of WWE has shown that she can hang with the best of SmackDown so she'll still have to push back the former SmackDown Women's Champ before going after the current one.
