Love makes the world go ‘round and fans have seen their fair share of romantic pairings throughout the years. Female fans, in particular, are prone to what is called “shipping”. Shipping means two people that fans want to get together. It is natural to wonder who could survive the chaos in WWE together. If we can ship and rejoice in Richonne on The Walking Dead, then WWE is no different.
Unless you are Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, love doesn’t last forever in WWE. It doesn’t stop fans from holding out hope that there will be a new power couple. Older female fans like myself could only hope we see a Macho Man/Miss Elizabeth type of relationship once again. There are teases at times, making our shipper radars go crazy once more.
This will be a mix of old and new. Some relationships could still happen onscreen, whereas all we can do with the others is reminisce about what could have been.
Without further ado, let’s dive in and go into the “shipping” world.
#1 Sasha Banks and Enzo Amore
I may be a blogger, but I am the same girl who sat in the crowd in Atlanta on the August 1st Raw texting my friends “OMG I SHIP THIS” once the opening segment was over between Banks, Amore, Charlotte and Chris Jericho. This is the most current “what if?” scenario when it comes to relationships. Banks is the Boss and Amore is the realest guy in the room. This couple portrays fun and sassiness in one, complete package. The chemistry that night was sizzling.
Fans would like to see the two team up again and possibly sparks could fly once more. The question is, can it happen again? There hasn’t been follow-up just yet, but both parties have had their hands full with feuds and rivalries to keep busy for the time being.
#2 Paige and Seth Rollins
Forget the rumors of Rollins and Stephanie McMahon. Paige is a rocker chick, and Rollins is a rocker dude. I’d much prefer this pairing versus Paige’s real life pairing with Alberto Del Rio. Rollins’ look is an attraction with the ladies in addition to his soaring confidence. Paige is the right one who could take Rollins’ ego down a peg or two.
This is not going to happen anytime soon if at all, but it is a pairing that many female fans have been dreaming about for some time. With their savage attitude, Paige and Rollins would certainly be a couple to watch. Fans can only wonder what could happen with the two in tag team action.
#3 Stacy Keibler and Randy Orton
I’m still mad about this outcome. Back in 2004, this was such a cute pairing. This was a classic relationship between a sweet girl and a bad boy. There was a small buildup that led to a kiss in the middle of the ring. However, Orton just had to hurt our feelings when he RKO’d Keibler right after the kiss happened.
Perhaps it was the best outcome because considering how Orton and Keibler have fared since then, the pairing was probably never meant to be. Orton has always been a bad boy and keeping someone around who was sweet like Keibler would never have persisted anyway. It was fun while it lasted.
#4 Trish Stratus and Chris Jericho
I loved this storyline from start to finish. With this cute Canadian couple, it broke your heart when Stratus found out about the infamous bet Jericho and cohort Christian had. They bet one Canadian dollar to who could sleep with Stratus or Lita first. This led to both women confronting them followed with the Battle of the Sexes match at Armageddon in 2003.
Prior to WrestleMania XX, it was Stratus’ turn to hurt our feelings when she led Jericho on in hopes of reconciliation. It turned out that she had an affair with Christian, and promptly turned on Jericho in a shocking twist at WrestleMania.
#5 Bayley and Finn Balor
Last year, these two would cause quite a stir through social media and NXT house shows. Bayley and Finn Balor are both so adorable and fun. NXT had fun with the two by having each other come out to the other’s music at one time. They made my shipping heart explode with the Dirty Dancing tribute. The movie is most girls’ favourite chick flick.
Now that Bayley is on Raw, it poses a reunion of sorts. Once Balor recovers from his shoulder injury, could we see these two reunite once more? Whether it happens at house shows or at Raw, it will be cuteness overload.
#6 Lana and Roman Reigns
Wouldn’t this be a hell of a twist in the Reigns/Rusev feud I couldn’t help but think of this pairing last year when Reigns taunted Lana to quit staring at him. This past Monday the two had a heated vocal confrontation to kick off Raw. Reigns enjoys making the Ravishing Russian angry, leaving her to spew and scream at him whenever it happens.
With the feud between Reigns and Rusev looking to resolve at Hell in a Cell, it is unlikely this will happen. Also, if it was anything like the debacle between Lana, Rusev, Dolph Ziggler, and Summer Rae last summer, we can very well do without it.
