6 Things that must happen on NXT and SmackDown this week

With so many storylines building, WWE could give fans one of the greatest weeks of the year
With so many storylines building, WWE could give fans one of the greatest weeks of the year

Thanks to certain circumstances, WWE was able to surprise its fans with some new storylines and huge surprises last week.

For the first time ever, the company has decided to add NXT to the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View, a move that's sure to increase the viewership of the Black & Gold Brand.

Now that the company has been building towards the PPV, we've seen some new rivalries develop, while a lot of invasion angles take each episode to a take the shows to a new high.

This week, the company could continue the same but turn random invasions and interruptions to proper storylines which could benefit the company and the Superstars on NXT and SmackDown.

From building towards Survivor Series and WarGames matches to giving fans some interesting once in a lifetime bouts and segments, there are several things the company could do on NXT and SmackDown this week.

In this article, we will look at the six things that the company must do on the two brands this week.

#6 Shayna Baszler invites a babyface to join her team

Will Baszler take a chance on the Captain of Team Kick?
Will Baszler take a chance on the Captain of Team Kick?

Shayna Baszler has been building up a team to go to war against Rhea Ripley and her squad at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019. Last week on NXT, we saw an interesting contest between Shayna Baszler and Dakota Kai after The Queen Of Spades mocked the New Zealand native for being a waste of a pick for Team Ripley.

This encouraged her to give one of her best performances in the NXT ring to date, as she came very close to upsetting the NXT Women’s Champion before getting caught in the Kirifuda Clutch and tapping out.

Later in the night, Kai was left heartbroken as Ripley went on to pick Mia Yim in her team rather than her, which was a surprising decision, to say the least. The pick ensured that Baszler’s heelish mind games on Ripley worked, and she changed her mind to pick a different Superstar.

This week on NXT, the company must make Baszler offer Kai to join her team instead and become a part of a revolution. This would work extremely well in the storyline, as Kai has been seen as a top babyface, and it seemed like the only reason she could not make Team Ripley was because of the mind games Baszler played.

This could result in Kai thinking about it and teasing a heel turn without giving a definite reply during the show, leaving the matter open to the WWE Universe to speculate. The angle would prove that Baszler is not only the strongest in-ring competitor but also the most cunning one in the women’s roster today.

#5 Johnny Gargano returns to knock out Finn Balor

Balor sent a loud and clear message to Johnny to stop wrestling
Balor sent a loud and clear message to Johnny to stop wrestling

Finn Balor returned to NXT a little under a month ago and has already made enough enemies to last him a lifetime. He arrived at the brand and immediately confronted Adam Cole, even though the two did not lay a finger on each other. Balor then went on to surprise the entire WWE Universe once again after he turned heel and attacked Johnny Gargano, leaving him knocked out.

Last week, Balor once again made his presence felt, as he interrupted the main event match between The O.C. and the team of Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle, and Keith Lee and attacked The Original Bro in the process.

Judging by the way Balor is going and his current attitude, it seems like he needs a dose of his own medicine soon to build towards a big match for WarGames.

This week on NXT, WWE must allow Balor to come out once again to defend his actions from last week, only to be jumped by Johnny Wrestling in the process.

Balor had sent a loud and clear message to Gargano a couple of weeks back, and NXT must allow Gargano to reply in his way to build a huge match between the two men for the upcoming NXT pay-per-view.

#4 Triple H asks the NXT locker room to earn their place

The move could allow NXT to bring their entire roster to RAW and SmackDown over the next couple of weeks
The move could allow NXT to bring their entire roster to RAW and SmackDown over the next couple of weeks

RAW recently revealed that Seth Rollins will be the captain of Team RAW and also announced its members for the traditional Survivor Series match this year. SmackDown also revealed Sasha Banks as the captain for the women’s Team SmackDown for the event, and NXT is the only brand that has not revealed a single Superstar for the two huge matches yet.

This week, we should see Triple H appear on NXT and make a huge announcement to make things even more exciting before the big clashes at Survivor Series. Triple H should give the entire NXT locker room a chance to prove themselves by constantly invading and attacking the main roster Superstars in order to prove their loyalty to the Black and Gold Brand and their intent to fight for NXT at Survivor Series.

This would allow the company to expose more NXT Superstars to the WWE Universe, especially those who only watch the main roster shows, and build a bigger backing for those Superstars.

The threat of NXT constantly invading will also keep things more interesting for weeks to come, and the company could keep announcing one or two Superstars for Team NXT after each show when they are done proving themselves to Triple H.

#3 Cesaro betrays SmackDown

Cesaro won't be too happy with his recent bookings
Cesaro won't be too happy with his recent bookings

Cesaro’s luck has turned upside down since The Bar broke up several months ago. The former United States Champion has struggled to get good bookings on RAW and SmackDown since becoming a solo Superstar once again, and things haven’t been looking too bright for the man who’s arguably Universal Championship material.

At Crown Jewel, Cesaro was made to take on Saudi-born NXT Superstar Mansoor in a match where he was booked to lose to put up the hometown hero.

Recently, even Corey Graves has called Cesaro the most underutilized Superstar not just in WWE, but the entire wrestling industry. This proves that everyone shares the same feelings regarding Cesaro, and we could watch him take matters into his own hands soon.

SmackDown will surely be looking towards its ‘enhancement talent’ to prevent the next invasion on the brand, and we could see Cesaro jump ship back to NXT and go against the brand which has recently employed his services again.

Cesaro should betray his brand as the Survivor Series pay-per-view seems like the best option to give the extremely talented Superstar a fresh start and a gimmick that will become memorable for the fans.

Going to NXT could help Cesaro gain momentum again and even side up with someone like Finn Balor or Dominik Dijakovic in the long run.

#2 The Usos return

The Usos need to return soon to up the competition in the Tag Team Division
The Usos need to return soon to up the competition in the Tag Team Division

The Usos have been away from in-ring competition for quite some time now, and the company needs to look to bring back the brothers in style before the fans begin to lose interest in them.

Last week on SmackDown, Roman Reigns took on King Corbin in a one-on-one match where both men were doing great before the team of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode decided to cause interference. The heels helped Corbin pick up a rather major victory over The Big Dog, and went over in what seems like an extended rivalry between the two men.

This week, it’s likely that Reigns will come out to confront either Corbin or the team of Ziggler and Roode and challenge anyone to a match. This could result in another interference and beatdown by the heels on the babyface, and this is where the company can bring back The Usos.

Jimmy & Jey Uso could come out to protect their cousin to a huge pop from the crowd as the WWE Universe is anticipating their return for a long time. This could set up a nice six-man tag team rivalry between the men and give the fans some quality matches for the upcoming weeks.

#1 WALTER challenges the Universal Champion

The NXT UK Champion should aim high
The NXT UK Champion should aim high

This might sound odd, but if NXT UK is looking to make a big impact than they should look no further than the new Universal Champion, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.

WALTER, along with his heel stable Imperium, made a mark on SmackDown on Friday Night when they attacked Heavy Machinery before retreating back into the crowd. This allowed them to send a massive statement to the main roster locker room, which confirmed that the Superstars of NXT UK will also be a part of the upcoming Survivor Series.

With that confirmation, the company should allow its biggest heavyweight Champion to walk out to the middle on SmackDown and do the unthinkable - challenge “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt to a Champion vs. Champion battle at Survivor Series.

WALTER is one of the most lethal and dominating men in all of WWE and can make a squash victory over Braun Strowman look believable. He’s a star to look out for in the future and could give us a dream match at Survivor Series which will help the cause of the company and the United Kingdom roster.

The booking will allow Wyatt to battle in a match with nothing to lose, while a loss for WALTER will not hurt his image, rather improve his standing in the NXT locker room.
