6 things you need to know before tonight's WWE Monday Night RAW (August 12th 2019)

What does WWE have planned for the new Universal Champion and The Fiend?
What does WWE have planned for the new Universal Champion and The Fiend?

WWE SummerSlam 2019 is in the books, and what a huge show it was!

A colossal night of wrestling that saw a total 12 matches, there was no bout bigger than the main event, which saw Seth Rollins once again slay the Beast Brock Lesnar to capture the WWE Universal Championship for the second time.

SummerSlam also saw the return of Bray Wyatt, debuting as The Fiend, who gave a dominant display in his first match back in nearly a year, crushing Finn Balor.

For the stars of Monday Night RAW, however, there will be no time to recover, as we are just hours away from the latest episode of WWE's flagship show.

Here are six things you need to know before tonight's edition of WWE RAW.

#6: What's next for The Man?

It may have been a tough road, but last night Becky Lynch left Toronto still bothThe Man and the RAW Women's Champion.

Taking on Natalya in a Submissions match in Canada, Lynch was clearly in enemy territory. That didn't stop her from making the Queen of Harts tap out in the show's opener to retain the gold.

With Natalya out of the way, the question remains: What's next for The Man? Since capturing the title in the main event of WrestleMania 35, Lynch has dominated everyone in her path on the red brand, so hopefully a new challenger will be able to emerge tonight.

With that said, Natalya did put out a tweet, stating that she isn't finished with Lynch just yet, and has vowed to be the one to take the WWE RAW Women's Championship away from The Man.

#5: The Fiend has arrived!

WWE SummerSlam 2019 will be remembered for a lot of things, but one thing that definitely stood out was the return of Bray Wyatt. After months away from the ring, the former World Champion finally made his in-ring return as The Fiend, playing mind games along the way with Finn Balor.

From his demonic mask to his remixed theme, to The Fiend using Bray's head as a lantern, this new monster clearly had the psychological advantage and was able to dispatch the first-ever Universal Champion with relative ease, a tough accomplishment given Balor's in-ring ability.

With The Fiend now a part of the RAW roster, every Superstar on the red brand should be careful, as Wyatt has shown he will attack anyone, from Kurt Angle on last week's show, to fellow WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley at RAW Reunion to the horror of the WWE Universe.

Who will the Fiend target on his first night back on Monday Night RAW? We don't know now, but we for sure are pleased that it's not going to be any of us.

#4: Will the Big Dog finally get some answers?

On last week's edition of RAW, Roman Reigns was involved in an attempted hit, when a car crashed into his, with Reigns still inside it. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, as Reigns was the victim of falling scaffolding on SmackDown Live the week prior, as it seems someone has it in for the former WWE Universal Champion.

According to Buddy Murphy, that certain someone is Erick Rowan, the partner of Daniel Bryan, who denied Rowan's involvement in the incidents. Though Roman didn't appear at last night's SummerSlam, Rowan did, ambushing Murphy during his kick-off match with Apollo Crews and telling the Australian Superstar "keep my name out of your mouth."

Though Reigns wasn't at the biggest party of the summer, expect the Big Dog to be in attendance for tonight's Monday Night RAW. Will Roman finally get some answers as to who exactly is responsible for the backstage attacks? And who will be on the receiving end of a Superman Punch?

The Miz and Dolph Ziggler will battle one more time on tonight's show, just one day after Ziggler lost to Goldberg.

#3: The Show-Off rebounds with old rival battle

It's obvious to say that WWE SummerSlam 2019 did not go quite as Dolph Ziggler had hoped. After being told he'd be facing The Miz at the biggest party of the summer, Ziggler instead faced a returning Goldberg, and was soundly crushed by the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion in the second match of the card.

Despite being absolutely demolished by the 2018 Hall of Famer last night, Ziggler won't have much time to recover, as he will indeed face The Miz on tonight's edition of RAW. Everyone knows about the past these two have together, as it was Ziggler who won the Intercontinental title from the A-Lister at the 2014 SummerSlam event, while the duo battled two years later for the same gold in the summer of 2016.

Will Ziggler be able to avenge his loss from last night at the expense of the Miz? Or will the former WWE Champion be able to keep Ziggler's rotten week continuing with another defeat tonight? Either way, tune in to RAW to find out.

#2: Women's Tag Team Gold on the line

The IIconics may have only defended the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles three times during their reign, which started at WrestleMania 35, but it seems the new champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are making up for lost time.

Last week, the new champs won the titles from the Aussie duo in a match on RAW which also featured the Kabuki Warriors and Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.

On the SummerSlam kick-off show, the pair kept up their winning ways, retaining the titles against The IIconics, but will certainly have a tall order on tonight's episode, when they face Kairi Sane and Asuka.

Though the Japanese tag team are yet to hold the tag titles, the pair certainly have had plenty of success in singles action. Sane is a former NXT Women's Champion, and Asuka has held the same title, as well as the SmackDown Women's title and was the winner of the very first women's Royal Rumble.

Could we see the Kabuki Warriors become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions tonight, ending Bliss and Cross' reign after just one week?

#1: The era of the Architect begins again

It was a long, hard battle, but Seth Rollins is once again the WWE Universal Champion. After losing the title at Extreme Rules thanks to Brock cashing in Money in the Bank, Rollins suffered the wrath of the Beast in the weeks prior to the biggest party of the summer.

That didn't deter Rollins though, who now has both the Universal title as well as two pinfall victories over Lesnar, something very few stars can boast. With the red-strap firmly around the waist of the Architect, expect Rollins to be in good spirits tonight on RAW, though a little worse for wear.

With that said, winning the title from Lesnar at SummerSlam has brought its own problems, as the Architect is once again the most sought after man on the entire red brand. With Lesnar's contract status meaning it could be months before we see the Beast in action once again, Rollins could be in need of a new challenger, and whoever that mystery opponent is may be determined tonight on a huge edition of WWE Monday Night RAW.
