Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

Every year the WWE Creative brings together intriguing storylines and fascinating matches heading into WrestleMania.

While new storylines and matchups do trigger the fans' imagination, sometimes a match is witnessed more than once and very rarely does it happen in two consecutive WrestleManias.

Here we list down the six times when the same matchup (to be precise the opponents) happened during consecutive WrestleManias.

#6 Edge and Christian vs The Dudley Boyz vs The Hardy Boyz (WrestleMania 2000 and X-Seven)

Edge and Christian, The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz are three of the greatest tag teams of all time.

Putting these three tremendous teams against each other is indeed a treat for the eyes and now that we realize that this triple threat match happened twice in a row at the WrestleMania 2000 and X-seven respectively, there is absolutely nothing else to do but applaud.

The triple threat match first took place at WrestleMania 2000, when the three aforementioned teams fought in a Triangle Ladder Match for the Tag titles. Edge and Christian won the match and became the new Tag Team Champions.

In the very next edition of WrestleMania, we saw these three teams colliding once more, yet again for the WWE Tag Team Championships, this time in a TLC match. Edge and Christian were victorious for another time as they left the arena with the tag team belts two years in a row.

Interestingly, the Dudley Boyz were the reigning champions leading up to both the Manias but couldn't retain their championships on either occasion as Edge and Christian won the match or rather shall we say the matches.

Despite witnessing the same match in consecutive WrestleManias, the WWE universe was in awe of what these teams were capable of and it is absolutely right to say that these six men enthralled the fans worldwide with their fantastic performance.

It is an absolutely tremendous feat to compete in two similar style matches back to back and still give the fans their money's worth. The three teams paved the way for WWE to come up with the money-in-the-bank ladder match concept that fans have now taken to year on year with open arms.

#5 Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan (WrestleMania 27 & 28)

Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan in just 18 seconds at Wrestlemania 28

Probably, none of you expected this but yes Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan happened in two consecutive WrestleManias.

The Celtic warrior famously defeated Daniel Bryan in just 18 seconds at WrestleMania 28, to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Sheamus earned this opportunity by winning the Royal Rumble and made the most of it by becoming the reigning champion, Daniel Bryan in a mere 18 seconds following a devastating brogue kick.

While this match grabbed the headlines, a short World Title match is rarely witnessed at a stage as big as WrestleMania, the other match which took place a year ago at WrestleMania 27 was a bit more competitive.

The Great White battled Daniel in a Lumberjack Match for Sheamus' United States Championship. The match ended in no contest and as a result, Sheamus retained the title.

Over the years, there have been many entertaining world title bouts in the history of WrestleManias but the one between Bryan and Sheamus remains the most surprising one ever.

The WWE is often known to experiment. But the fact that they used the world title in their latest one at a pay-per-view like WrestleMania will always remain a talking point.

#4 Bret Hart vs Yokozuna (WrestleMania IX & X)

It was at WrestleMania IX when the world witnessed one of the most dominant World Championship matches of all-time as Yokozuna defeated Bret Hart to win the World championship.

Of course, the reign was short-lived as the heavyweight champion was defeated by Hulk Hogan just minutes after his victory over Hart but Yokozuna's emphatic victory over the Hitman is still remembered by the fans.

Exactly a year later, Bret Hart faced Yokozuna once more, in yet another WrestleMania main event for the World Title.

The Hitman crawled and scratched in his bout against Yokozuna - who was the reigning world champion leading to Mania.

It seemed as if the Superstar from Canada was in for one more defeat but Bret pulled off a miracle and completed one of the greatest comeback stories in the history of WrestleMania, as he defeated Yokozuna and left WrestleMania X as the new WWE Champion.

Hart was known as one of WWE's toughest competitors and he proved just why.

#3 The Undertaker vs Triple H (WrestleMania 27 & 28)

The Game and taker have battled each other 3 times on Wrestlemania
The Game and taker have battled each other 3 times on Wrestlemania

It was on 21st February 2011 when the Undertaker was scheduled to appear on Raw. As the deadman walked to the ring, upon his iconic entrance, out came Triple H.

Triple H walked to the ring, looked the deadman in the eye and then looked at the WrestleMania sign and we all knew what is going to happen. Two legendary Superstars in the ring, no words said and one of the greatest promos was delivered thereby.

Triple H was possibly The Undertaker’s toughest and the most ruthless opponent and their ‘No Holds Barred’ Match at WrestleMania 27 was possibly the most hurtful one for the Deadman. The Phenom, irrespective of being the winner, went back on a stretcher.

One year later at WrestleMania 28, the legendary figures battled once more but this time in a Hell in a Cell match with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee.

The match was a spectacle and Triple H once again came too close to defeating the deadman at the Grandest Stage of them all but just like the last time, The Undertaker won and kept the streak alive.

The WWE Universe still recalls the time when Triple H delivered a tombstone piledriver on the Undertaker and went for the pin with his tongue out, only for the dead man to kick out one more time.

The Undertaker's resilience has always been his key virtue and he had to get the better of Triple H twice to keep his streak intact.

#2 The Rock vs John Cena (WrestleMania 28 & 29)

The match which was labeled as Once in a lifetime actually happened twice! John Cena and The Rock are possibly the two biggest stars in the history of sports entertainment. While The Rock was the go-to guy in the magnificent Attitude Era, John Cena was the face of the PG Era.

Cena went toe-to-toe with The Great One at WrestleMania 28 as the world witnessed these gigantic names battle each other for the very first time.

Cena fans will probably never forget the moment when they thought the Cenation Leader slayed the Brahma bull as he went for the people’s elbow, only to become the recipient of a devastating rock-bottom, which resulted in The Rock winning their first bout.

No one really expected these legendary superstars to be competing against each other one more time but as they say, Never Say Never with the WWE!

The Rock and Cena battled again, this time for the prestigious WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Cena faced the people's champ in yet another main event of the WrestleMania, as the two powerhouses fought for the title at WrestleMania 29.

While the match was equally impressive, the winner was different this time as John Cena got the better of The Rock and became the new World champion.

The WWE Universe was startled by the two legends and it is good to say that this match holds a special place in the WWE vault.

#1 The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania 25 & 26)

HBK came close to ending the Undertaker's streak twice. Possibly the greatest WrestleMania rivalry of all-time, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker share a history that fans have been lucky to be a part of!

Shawn Michaels came within a whisker away of defeating the Undertaker at WrestleMania. The Heartbreak Kid made it his mission to end the deadman's mighty streak at the Grandest Stage Of Them All but as they say, some things were never meant to happen and this was exactly one of those things.

The legends collided twice on WrestleMania with their first match being a five-star thriller at WrestleMania 25.

Mr. WrestleMania, Shawn Michaels took the fight to the deadman as the two iconic figures gave the WWE Universe not just one but too many special moments.

If their first match was a classic, the second one didn't disappoint either as this bout was all the more special owing to the fact that Shawn Michaels' legendary career was on the line.

HBK did put up a valiant effort in his quest to end Deadman's streak, but to his displeasure, success was far from the finish.

Once again, after the second bell, the same hand was raised for two years in succession and the WWE Universe wished a teary-eyed goodbye to the Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels.
