6 top WWE Superstars with astonishingly bad WrestleMania records

Triple H at WrestleMania 35

WrestleMania is the grandest stage of them all in WWE. Except for 2020 and a few other years, the event has been filled with all sorts of incredible moments in front of a consistent crowd of 70,000+ people.

It's also what WWE builds to for months and in many cases, for over a year. Long-term storylines are normally paid off at WrestleMania and in many ways, it's the end of the season, with the RAW after WrestleMania being the season premiere.

Technically, the season premiere for RAW happens around September, though we're not sure how one determines a season premiere of shows that air every week in a calendar year. Either way, this list will focus on top superstars in WWE throughout history who have surprisingly bad records. This could be given their number of appearances, their status on the card, or an odd losing streak. There are some interesting entries on this list, so let's jump right into it.

#6. Jeff Hardy - 1-6

You might be surprised to learn that before WrestleMania 33 in 2017, Jeff Hardy hadn't registered a single win at the grandest stage of them all and even at SummerSlam. We're not sure why, but he has a surprisingly bad record at the show of shows.

According to wwe news and rumors One of those opponents that he lost to includes one against his brother Matt Hardy at WrestleMania 25. It was only in his return in 2017 when he entered the tag title match at the last minute and would win the RAW Tag Team titles with Matt Hardy.

In a move that made it seem like it all came in full circle, the stipulation was a ladder match. His most famous appearance at the show is undoubtedly at WrestleMania X7 when he had a classic TLC match against The Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian.

#5. Kofi Kingston - 2-9

Kofi Kingston had one of the greatest WrestleMania moments in recent years when his decade-long journey in wrestling would pay off with a WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 35.

However, that aside, his WrestleMania track record is quite poor. You have to go back to 2011 at WrestleMania 27 to find his last win. There was an 8-year gap between that, but at least we know that Kingston has been in prominent spots. Since the formation of The New Day, he spent a few years competing for the Tag Team titles, minus WrestleMania 33 where The New Day were hosts of the show.

Of course, it's going to be hard to top WrestleMania 35, where he received the coronation in an unexpectedly brilliant storyline. It all came out of an injury from Mustafa Ali and Kingston would seize the opportunity like never before, getting the crowd behind him for a singles push and leading to a history-making World title win at the show of shows.

#4. Ric Flair - 1-4

The fact that Ric Flair only has five WrestleMania matches in his career is quite astounding in itself, but it's a reminder that Flair was never a "WWE guy" throughout his career to begin with. His more prominent roles came in the NWA and WCW, where he won many of his 16 World Championships.

However, Flair's list of opponents at WrestleMania is quite impressive, with names such as The 'Macho Man' Randy Savage, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, and Mick Foley some of the names he faced.

The only win that he had was in a 3-on-2 handicap match at WrestleMania 20, where he teamed up with Batista and Randy Orton to beat The Rock N' Sock Connection. He lost in all his other WrestleMania appearances, including the second Money in the Bank ladder match.

He even had a dark match at WrestleMania 23 where he teamed up with Carlito and won a Tag Team match. The most notable appearance, of course, was at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando at WrestleMania 24, when he lost his iconic retirement match to Shawn Michaels.

#3. Sasha Banks - 0-4

Sasha Banks is one of the most important names in WWE's Women's division in the last five years or so. It's crazy to think that it's almost been half a decade since her RAW debut and she was making waves even before that, being one of the key figures in giving NXT its reputation for great women's matches.

Even when you look at each woman on the roster, most of their best matches have come with Sasha Banks, including the likes of Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Bayley, and arguably even Becky Lynch.

While Sasha Banks has had some memorable entrances at WrestleMania, her record stands at 0-4. If you exclude her 2018 participation in the Women's Battle Royal match, then her record is 0-3. Her first WrestleMania appearance was in 2016 in a show-stealer with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, while her other appearances include a RAW Women's Fatal-4-Way title match and an unsuccessful defense of the Women's Tag Team Championship.

While we expect her record to improve in the coming years, it hasn't gotten off to the best start.

#2. Triple H - 10-13

Triple H always has the biggest entrance budget at WrestleMania
Triple H always has the biggest entrance budget at WrestleMania

This record is a bit surprising to us given the number of appearances that he has at WrestleMania. He has 23 appearances in total, the second most of all-time - behind only The Undertaker.

Triple H is also one of the most criticized wrestlers of all time, especially during his 'reign of terror' era. There were even a few matches at WrestleMania where people felt Triple H should have lost, including 2015 against Sting and 2003 against Booker T, with the latter being a controversial victory.

Despite this, Triple H has lost a lot more than he's won at WrestleMania, with 2011-2019 seeing him go 3-6. He's done a lot of good in the past few years in putting over newer superstars such as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Ronda Rousey. There's also the unforgettable back-to-back series of matches against The Undertaker.

His last WrestleMania match as of this writing was in 2019 when he beat Batista in the latter's retirement match.

#1. Shawn Michaels - 6-11

We'd like to start by saying that we want to forget that Shawn Michaels' match at Crown Jewel 2018 ever happened. Despite a great paycheque, Michaels made it clear that it was a one-off and that he had no intention of wrestling ever again.

With that said, we want to go back 8 years before that to WrestleMania 26 where he lost to The Undertaker for the second year in a row and hung his boots up after a legendary career. Regardless of his win-loss record, he will always be "Mr. WrestleMania". The only superstar who comes close to reaching that iconic status at WrestleMania is The Undertaker - who was aptly enough the person who retired him.

Shawn Michaels remains the greatest performer in WrestleMania history and he faced many of the all-time greats, including Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, The Undertaker, etc. It's only surprising that he's never had a singles match against Triple H at WrestleMania.
