7 Feuds that WWE desperately wants you to forget about

In the world of WWE, it's a given that not every rivalry is going to click. It's hard to come by all-time great rivalries, but there have been some on the other end of the spectrum which bordered "disastrous" for various reasons.

As a result, WWE did all they could to try and erase that from the past. Here are seven such feuds that WWE undoubtedly wants you to forget about.

#7. The Undertaker vs Muhammad Hassan

Controversial, to say the least
Controversial, to say the least

Let's start the list with one of the most controversial rivalries of the Ruthless Aggression Era. If you weren't a fan during the time, there was a certain character named Muhammad Hassan (played by Marc Copani) whose character was that of an Arab who expressed his anger over discrimination faced after 9/11.

When looking back at it, his words didn't make him much of a "heel" per se, but due to the sensitive nature of the subject, he received nuclear heat. If you observe his promos, there was a lot of truth in what he said.

However, things took a turn for the worse. For some reason, WWE decided that it would be appropriate to portray Hassan as having black-masked terrorist-like figures attack The Undertaker while carrying the former Superstar like he was a cult religious leader of sorts.

Unfortunately, the timing of it all made it worse as the London Bombings of 2005 happened around that time, putting WWE in hot water. Forced to scrap everything, they booked a match between Hassan and The Undertaker at The Great American Bash, where The Undertaker destroyed him and wrote him out of TV.

Hassan was sent back to developmental but decided that wrestling wasn't the path he would continue and walked away from WWE. Mark Copani is now the principal of Fulton Junior High School in New York. He's expressed no regret over the career choice that he's taken.

However, there's no denying that WWE wants you to forget all about this.

#6. Shane McMahon & Vince McMahon vs Shawn Michaels & God

Why?
Why?

This was undoubtedly one of the weirdest promotional tactics in WWE history. At WrestleMania 22, Shawn Michaels defeated Vince McMahon in an underrated match. However, their rivalry wasn't over.

Given that Shawn Michaels was a "born-again Christian" post-2000, Vince McMahon decided to use that as a part of the storyline and booked a No Holds Barred Match, where he would team up with his son Shane McMahon to face Shawn Michaels and God himself.

Many wondered how they would get around to it. As it turned out, God turned out to be a spotlight with an entrance theme as well.

It seemed to be a complete mockery and Vince McMahon abruptly announced that "God has left the building", leading to The Spirit Squad interfering and attacking Michaels, allowing Vince McMahon to pin him.

Everything about the feud seemed to be absurd and it's no surprise that WWE has made little mention of it since then. Some things are best forgotten about and this is undoubtedly one of them.

#5. Bobby Lashley vs Rusev

One of the most recent additions on the list, the reason it's added is due to Rusev's WWE release in April 2020. In the tail end of September 2019, Lana and Bobby Lashley revealed themselves as a new on-screen couple, despite her being married to Rusev.

Controversial at first, it surprisingly led to Rusev gaining a lot more momentum as a babyface. The problem is that in these kinds of situations, it makes sense for the babyface to win to get an actual payoff - and there was none of that.

On various occasions, Rusev would face Bobby Lashley and constantly lose. The only time he got one over him was when he teamed up with Liv Morgan to take on Lashley and Lana - and it was Morgan who picked up the win for her team.

Rusev was injured in February and the storyline was abruptly canceled before he was released a couple of months later. WWE has made no mention of it and will likely keep it that way going forward.

#4. Bayley vs Alexa Bliss

Disaster, disaster, and more disaster
Disaster, disaster, and more disaster

Ever thought of a feud that makes you cringe beyond words? Look no further than post-WrestleMania 2017, where Bayley and Alexa Bliss feuded against each other. Bayley was the RAW Women's Champion who was coming off a successful title defense in her first WrestleMania appearance.

That was the base for WWE to build on her as their next big female star, but they chose to go with Alexa Bliss, who was drafted to RAW post-WrestleMania. They wasted no time in putting the title on her and the feud turned out to be disastrous for Bayley from start to finish.

She was portrayed terribly and never got one over Alexa Bliss. In the end, Bliss beat her for the title, but it didn't end there. They had an Extreme Rules feud where they were to face off in a "Kendo Stick on a Pole" match.

The lowest point of the feud was the "This is your life" segment, something that has been unanimously acknowledged as a complete disaster. The feud sent Bayley spiraling downwards as she never had a single moment to shine.

It took her a good part of two years to recover from the ordeal and thankfully, she's now one of the most accomplished women on the WWE roster - and perhaps even in WWE history.

#3. The New Day vs Gallows & Anderson

This was an awful idea

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson were signed to WWE in early 2016 when they were one of the hottest free agents in the world of wrestling. They aligned with AJ Styles for a few months during his feuds against Roman Reigns and John Cena, but the brand split meant that Gallows & Anderson would stay on RAW while Styles was the second Superstar drafted to SmackDown (and the fourth overall pick).

At the time, The New Day were reigning strong as Tag Team Champions, closing in on a full year with the titles. It was the reign where they ended up surpassing Demolition's incredible 478-day reign as Champions. Many felt that Gallows & Anderson were the perfect Superstars to dethrone The New Day, but fans were frustrated when The New Day kept picking up victories over them.

"The Old Day" segment is one that's best forgotten about and perhaps sums up why WWE will want you to forget about that tag team rivalry altogether.

#2. Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio

It's a shame that we have to put two legends of the highest caliber on this list. Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero had a big history together and they even faced off that year at WrestleMania 20 while being the Tag Team Champions.

However, WrestleMania was a "friendly match", while SummerSlam was a grudge match of the highest order. We've seen Eddie Guerrero as one of the greatest babyfaces in WWE history, but we've also seen the vicious heel side of him.

Whichever side he aligned with, he always did his best to get over and managed to do so successfully in 2005 as well. However, the feud with Mysterio in the summer of that year took a weird turn as Guerrero claimed to be the biological father of Mysterio's son Dominick.

They would have a ladder match at SummerSlam 2005, where the stipulation was that the winner would get custody of Dominick. Vickie Guerrero had a late run-in and the match itself was a big disappointment.

While Guerrero is deservedly one of the most celebrated Superstars in WWE history, this was a forgettable feud and one that WWE won't be acknowledging any time soon.

#1. Roman Reigns vs Goldberg

This was supposed to be the main event match of WrestleMania
This was supposed to be the main event match of WrestleMania

The way the entire situation between Goldberg and Roman Reigns was handled was quite questionable. For one, Reigns earned a Universal Championship match at WrestleMania by simply telling Goldberg "I'm next!", while Drew McIntyre had to scratch and claw his way to Brock Lesnar.

Even if you leave that aside, you could argue that it was a match big enough to sell itself - which is most definitely true. However, Reigns was abruptly pulled from WrestleMania 36. The first rumors suggested that he was pulled as he felt ill during the tapings, but Reigns trashed the rumors, stating that his wife Galina Becker is pregnant with two twins. While he didn't outright admit that it was the reason he pulled out, it was implied.

WWE replaced him with Braun Strowman and gave no prior explanation. They simply announced that it was going to be Goldberg vs Strowman and The Monster Among Men benefited by winning his first Universal Championship.

What was even weirder is the fact that WWE has stopped acknowledging Roman Reigns altogether. They've even removed him from Make-a-Wish video packages, A WrestleMania 31 video clip, and more, with the commentators reportedly instructed to avoid mentioning his name.

This is the only feud on the list that didn't have a match...yet.
