WWE Superstars are forced to make huge sacrifices, especially when it comes to time away from their loved ones. For those who have children, the strain of being on the road for the better part of an entire year can drive a huge wedge between parent and child. However, the children of many wrestlers grow up idolizing their parents and eventually make the decision to follow in their footsteps to become wrestlers.
Sometimes you will hear of stories where wrestlers try to persuade their children to opt for a different way of life. Essentially, they just don’t want to see their kids go through the struggles that they face by being on the road so much. But with that said, there are some who genuinely support their child's desire to follow in their footsteps. In fact, many even offer their services and knowledge to help train their child.
We are all familiar with some of the WWE Superstars who have had children go on to become wrestlers. For instance, everyone is aware that Charlotte is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, Curtis Axel is the offspring of Mr Perfect and Tamina is the daughter of another Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka. These are just a few of the most notable second and third generation WWE Superstars.
In this column, we are going to take a look at some of the other former WWE Superstars who have children that are following in their footsteps. Here's our list of eight former WWE Superstars who you didn't realize had children working in the wrestling business today.
#8 WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper
Daughter: Teal Piper
Teal Piper's most famous wrestling appearance came as part of the Casino Battle Royal held at the pre-show of AEW's 2019 All Out pay-per-view. The match saw her and many other female wrestlers from the independent circuit competing for an opportunity to become the number one contender for the AEW Women's World title.
Having worked with Women of Wrestling, Teal is the daughter of the legendary "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Given her legacy and experience as a wrestler, it would be great to see WWE signing her. A program between her and Ronda Rousey to determine who the real "Rowdy" will surely be something to watch out for.
#7 Big John Studd
Son: Big Sean Studd
Big John Studd was one of the forefathers of the Big Man Revolution in professional wrestling. Studd was strong, agile and had a monstrous in-ring presence which was unmatched yet respected by all.
Throughout Studd’s legendary career, he feuded with the likes of Andre the Giant and even the immortal Hulk Hogan. Studd also spent time in the Heenan Family, a WWF stable led by Hall of Fame manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.
Sadly, Big John Studd passed away in 1995 after a tough battle with Liver Cancer and Hodgkin’s disease. Thankfully, his legacy now has an opportunity to live on through his son, John Minton Jr., also known in the ring as Big Sean Studd. Sean was also featured on WWE’s Tough Enough season four.
Big Sean Studd is still relatively new to the industry. He has the size and certainly has the genetics. If he's able to put all the pieces together, he has the potential to end up in a WWE ring in the near future.
#6 Vader
Son: Jesse White
Vader remains one of the most intimidating personas in the history of professional wrestling. With major success in every major promotion, including NJPW, WCW, and WWE, Vader pretty much dominated everywhere he went.
Jesse White is Vader's 36 year old son. Jessie has now been wrestling since 2009 and spent some time in WWE's developmental system. In 2011, Jesse was signed to a WWE developmental deal and sent to Tampa, where he was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling, which is now known as NXT.
During his stint with the company, Jessie had a good measure of success. In fact, Jesse’s TV debut came in a tag team match where he and Corey Graves took on Bo Dallas and Husky Harris for the FCW Tag Team Championships. Jesse and Corey won, thus capturing the FCW Tag Titles as well.
Jesse was released by WWE in 2013. Since then, Jesse has had the occasional independent booking, but nothing major has come about just yet. Jesse has also expressed an interest in possibly exploring some acting opportunities as well.
#5 Haku
Sons: Guerillas of Destiny (G.O.D.)
Haku is still regarded today by many current and former wrestlers as the strongest and toughest individual they have ever met. It's also worth noting that Haku has always been an incredibly humble, considerate and grateful man as well. During his career, Haku won the WWF Tag Team Championships with Andre The Giant and also had some success as one-half of The Islanders. It’s also easy to forget that he enjoyed a good measure of success as a singles competitor.
Haku has four children, two of whom have gone on to have great wrestling careers of their own. One of his sons might have been remembered by WWE fans as “Camacho” during his stint with the company. However, he is now working in Japan as a member of the infamous Bullet Club faction, alongside his brother Tama Tonga.
The brothers are also working together as a tag team known as the Guerillas of Destiny, or G.O.D. for short. As a tag team, they have held one of the most prestigious titles in all of tag team wrestling, the IWGP Tag Team Championships, which they have held a total of seven times now. The former ROH World Tag Team Champions recently featured on IMPACT Wrestling as well, as part of the Bullet Club.
#4 Mr Perfect
Daughter: Amy Hennig
Many of us who are old enough remember the crazy segments where Mr Perfect would go out on a golf course and hit a hole-in-one, bowl a perfect game of 300 or complete some other seemingly impossible task. WWE creative officials were years ahead of themselves when putting the pieces together for Curt Hennig’s gimmick. Nonetheless, he was highly entertaining.
Sadly, Hennig passed away in early 2003. However, Curt’s legacy does have an opportunity to live on, through his children. Hennig had four children, two of whom are now professional wrestlers. Of course, everyone knows his son, former WWE Superstar Curtis Axel. But what many don't realize is that Axel has a sister who also happens to be a wrestler.
Amy Hennig is the younger sister to Curtis Axel by two years. While Amy is yet to make an appearance with a major, well-known wrestling company, she has had some success throughout the independent scene, primarily in Minnesota.
#3 D-Von Dudley
Children: T-n-T (Terrance and Terrell)
If there's anyone who is qualified to spot quality tag teams, it's definitely D-Von Dudley. For over 20 years, The Dudley Boyz dominated the tag team scene. D-Von and Bubba Ray Dudley are widely regarded as one of, if not the greatest tag team in the history of professional wrestling and now that their run has come to an end, we are fortunate to have D-Von’s offspring coming into the mix. In case you didn’t know, D-Von currently works as a producer backstage in the WWE.
Terrance and Terrell, better known as “T-n-T”, are D-Von’s twin boys. As a tag team, they have been working together for several years now. T-n-T has been featured briefly on TNA Impact Wrestling.
The twins still work the indie scene all over the southeastern United States, and have also worked for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (ROW).
#2 Scott Hall
Son: Cody Hall
WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall lived a fast life, full of addiction and alcoholism. After years of secluding himself from everyone who cared about him, Scott finally reached rock-bottom and thanks to the miraculous work of fellow Hall of Famer DDP, he was able to conquer his demons and regain control of his life. Scott was also reunited with his children, including his son, Cody.
Cody expressed a genuine desire to follow in Scott’s footsteps and become a professional wrestler. After training with Scott, Jake ’The Snake’ Roberts, and DDP, Cody started to get booked on various independent cards in and around the greater Atlanta area. Eventually, Cody was signed by New Japan Pro Wrestling, which is where his career really took off.
Cody has been fortunate so far to have extensive work as a member of The Bullet Club of NJPW. Despite having no information on which promotion he currently works with, Cody last worked for DDT Pro-Wrestling in 2020.
#1 Chris Benoit
Son: David Benoit
As good as he may or may not have been in the ring, what Chris Benoit did to his family trumps it all. With that said, his living family should not be condemned based on his actions. This includes his son David Benoit.
David Benoit has always wanted to be a professional wrestler, but it wasn't until recently that he has been acting on his desires by putting in the work. David has continued his training and has started to network with as many professional wrestlers as possible. David has also been a guest at multiple WWE events in and around Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Many believe it's doubtful that David will ever be offered a contract by WWE, but if he can put together a good body of work, there is no reason why he should be held accountable for a crime he didn’t commit.
