7 Last-minute predictions for WWE TLC 2020: What is a Firefly Inferno Match?

WWE TLC looks like an entertaining show.
WWE TLC looks like an entertaining show.

WWE is set to present its final pay-per-view of the year - Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. The annual December demolition derby will take place at Tropicana Field on December 20th. WWE TLC has the potential to be yet another exciting pay-per-view inside the ThunderDome.

As of the end of SmackDown, six matches have been announced for the show. The two biggest matches will happen under the TLC stipulation, pitting Roman Reigns against Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship and Drew McIntyre against AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.

The undercard of WWE TLC has some exciting matches as well, particularly the Firefly Inferno Match between 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. While some of the matches on the card seem predictable in places, WWE might spring a few surprises at TLC.

So, with that in mind, let's take a look at who might win every match at WWE TLC 2020. What do you think will happen at the final pay-per-view of the year?

#7 Possible match for WWE TLC: Sami Zayn vs. Big E (Intercontinental Championship)

Most WWE pay-per-views in 2020 have featured seven matches on the main card and after the events of this week's episode of SmackDown, that number may be repeated on Sunday. In addition to the six matches on display, we could see Big E take on Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE TLC.

The feud between Zayn and Big E picked up steam, with the former New Day member interrupting the Sami Awards and attacking the IC Champion. A match at WWE TLC could be announced at any point over the weekend, but there is no guarantee that it will actually take place at the pay-per-view.

The issue between the two does warrant a title match though. Big E and Zayn would add some unpredictability and excitement to WWE TLC, especially since a lot of the matches are pretty predictable. The show could do with a feel-good title change. One that is universally popular.

Again, it must be said that Sami Zayn vs. Big E has not been announced and may very well not take place at WWE TLC. But it remains a possibility since seven is the optimal number of matches for pay-per-views in WWE right now. If it does happen, expect Big E to come away as the Intercontinental Champion.

Prediction (if this match happens): Big E wins at WWE TLC

#6 WWE TLC 2020: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka and a mystery partner (WWE Women's Tag Team Championship)

The story of this match was heavily based on Lana and the abuse she had been suffering at the hands of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. She enlisted the help of Asuka and was set to challenge the Women's Tag Team Champions for their titles at WWE TLC. However, Lana herself isn't in the match anymore.

Following a ruthless attack by Jax and Baszler on this week's RAW, The Ravishing Russian was written out and will be replaced by a mystery partner at WWE TLC. Asuka could team up with a host of names, but the biggest and likeliest one is Charlotte Flair. The Queen could make a surprise return on Sunday.

She has been off WWE TV for six months, with her last involvements on RAW being a clean loss to Asuka and an assault from Nia Jax. Flair could come back and exact some vengeance on her attacker by taking her title. A storyline between her and Asuka would inject some life into RAW's women's division.

The two of them could hold the tag team titles for a while after WWE TLC, before eventually feuding over the RAW Women's Championship. This moment would enable Charlotte Flair to become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE as well, along with the obvious upturn in interest for the Red brand.

Prediction: Charlotte Flair returns as Asuka's partner and they win at WWE TLC

#5 WWE TLC 2020: Sasha Banks vs. Carmella (SmackDown Women's Championship)

Following a lengthy absence from WWE TV, Carmella returned to SmackDown as a heel and is straight in a title program. She and Sasha Banks have developed quite the intense rivalry heading into WWE TLC, with a SmackDown Women's Championship match between the pair delving into madness.

The Legit Boss faced Carmella for the title on last week's episode. The challenger gained the upper hand by cracking a bottle of champagne on Banks. However, the Champion will likely retain her title at WWE TLC, with bigger matches set to come as we approach Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season.

Prediction: Sasha Banks wins at WWE TLC

#4 WWE TLC 2020: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods vs. Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander (RAW Tag Team Championship)

After over a month of matches against each other, The New Day and The Hurt Business are set to end their rivalry over the RAW Tag Team Championship at WWE TLC. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin have picked up victories over Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, but never when the titles were on the line.

Now is the time for WWE to pull the trigger on The Hurt Business as Tag Team Champions. Alexander is in great form and would greatly benefit from winning a pay-per-view title match against Woods and Kingston. He and Benjamin need to win on Sunday otherwise, this feud will have been a waste of time.

Prediction: Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander win at WWE TLC

#3 WWE TLC 2020: Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles (TLC Match for the WWE Championship)

The first of two TLC matches at the event, Drew McIntyre's WWE Championship match against AJ Styles could be an absolute barnburner. There could be carnage extending beyond the competitors in the match, with Omos and Sheamus likely to play a part for their respective allies at WWE TLC.

Also, The Miz and John Morrison could make their presence felt. This seems like a great opportunity for the reality TV star to cash in his Money in the Bank and win the WWE Championship. However, while it probably should happen to drum up interest for RAW, The Miz is unlikely to leave WWE TLC with the title.

Expect McIntyre to retain his WWE Championship en route to a big WrestleMania season for him on top of the Red brand. He and Styles will probably take some crazy bumps involving tables, ladders, and chairs. This could be much more action-based than the other TLC match at the event.

It will be a barnburner without a doubt, as The Scottish Warrior picks up yet another impressive pay-per-view victory as WWE Champion. He would thwart both Styles and The Miz before leaving WWE TLC with the gold. Drew McIntyre could have bigger and more serious things to attend to, in time for Royal Rumble season.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre wins at WWE TLC

#2 WWE TLC 2020: Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (TLC Match for the Universal Championship)

The storyline between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens has been great, with both Superstars taking shots at each other's families. The issue got out of hand on SmackDown, with Reigns and Jey Uso viciously attacking KO at every turn. He ended the show by getting up from the attack and will be raring to go at WWE TLC.

Owens brought out the violent worst of The Tribal Chief, who looked rattled at times by his comments. However, the former Universal Champion has refused to back down. Paul Heyman called him a martyr and said that he must be eviscerated. That is what it will take for Reigns to come out victorious.

The Universal Championship match at WWE TLC will be more story-based than its WWE title counterpart but could feature an insane bump or two. You could bet money that Kevin Owens will do something ridiculous in the TLC Match, with all of his 'friends' at his disposal. He loves taking risks in the WWE ring.

Despite KO's best efforts, the result isn't in much doubt. Roman Reigns is likely to retain the Universal Championship at WWE TLC, possibly with some major help from his cousin. That being said, Reigns and Owens are set to have a brilliant main event match on Sunday.

Prediction: Roman Reigns wins at WWE TLC

#1 WWE TLC 2020: Randy Orton vs. 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt (Firefly Inferno Match)

Despite not having the titular stipulation, the most intriguing match at WWE TLC is between Randy Orton and The Fiend. The two of them will compete in the first-ever Firefly Inferno Match, something that has sparked the interest of fans. We are yet to find out the concept or rules of this match.

All we know is that fire will be involved, as it was when Orton betrayed Bray Wyatt in 2017. The Viper burned down the Wyatt Family Compound after infiltrating the evil cult, before defeating Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. However, The Fiend never forgets. Orton will find that out the hard way at WWE TLC.

The Firefly Inferno Match could be a cinematic presentation that is similar to the Firefly Fun House Match between Wyatt and John Cena at WrestleMania, with a fire-based theme. It could be a match inside the Fun House while it is covered in flames, or maybe the objective of the match is to set your opponent on fire.

Whatever it is, expect the storytelling to be on the money. Wyatt and Orton are among the best in WWE at telling stories, with the Firefly Inferno Match being a likely demonstration of that. As for the winner, it has to be The Fiend. He needs to get revenge for what the 14-time World Champion did.

This week's RAW established that Bray Wyatt's monstrous alter-ego cannot get burned, which gives him a clear advantage at WWE TLC. Whatever this match may be, The Fiend must come out on top. Be it pinfall, throwing Randy Orton into the fire, or simply setting him on fire.

Prediction: 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt wins at WWE TLC
