The entrance theme plays a vital role in constructing the gimmick of a WWE Superstar

The entrance theme of any Superstar and/or team can make or break their gimmicks. The wrestlers work very hard in establishing their in-ring personalities and winning the attention of the fans. But a lackluster entrance theme can downsize the impact of their ploy to convince the viewers of their intentions.

There are countless examples of iconic entrance themes that have elevated WWE Superstars to new levels of success. They play a key role in defining a character that’s being portrayed inside the squared circle.

The recent change in Bayley’s entrance is enough to explain the crucial need for an appropriate theme song to solidify any gimmick. A similar move for other Superstars on the main roster will do wonders for their respective characters going forward.

Here we take a look at a few WWE Superstars who are in desperate need of a new entrance theme.

#7 Kabuki Warriors – Asuka and Kairi Sane

One of the most dreaded traditions in WWE is merging the theme song of two Superstars after they form a Tag Team. This happened with Asuka and Kairi Sane.

The current Women’s Tag Team Champions are currently one of the major highlights of the roster. Together, Asuka and Sane have the potential to redefine the women’s tag-team division. Asuka’s green mist and Sane’s recent match against Becky Lynch on RAW became the talk of the town as and when the action unfolded.

Both these female Superstars bring a lot to the table. However, their merged theme songs often downplay WWE’s efforts to establish the Women’s Tag Team Champions as a strong unit.

Introducing this team with a new theme song will enable the creatives to add more credibility to their ‘Kabuki Warriors’ gimmick. Moreover, it will prevent them from compromising their individual identities.

#6 Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

The former Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are the second team to face the wrath of merged theme songs.

It is unfair to put in such little effort in creating an identity of a team that boasts of Bliss and Cross. Both these Superstars are extremely talented inside the ring and have delivered great matches on several occasions.

Bliss has enjoyed several title reigns on the main roster and is immensely popular among the fans. Cross has also had an impressive run on the main roster ever since her debut in 2018. She has made her mark and is now set to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Both these women portray two very contradictory personalities as Singles Superstars. Hence, it is amazing to see them blend so well when they come together as a team.

A new name for their team along with a theme song that suits their gimmick would be interesting to see going forward. Neither Bliss nor Cross will have an extended run as a Singles Superstar in the near future. Hence, WWE must capitalize on this opportunity and build them as a serious tag team so that the Women’s Tag Team Championship can witness credible competition.

#5 Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler

Multiple-time Tag Team Champions Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler are the third Tag Team on this list of Superstars who desperately need a new theme song. Once again, WWE have lazily merged the entrance theme of both these Superstars in their attempt to present them as a team.

Don’t get me wrong, Roode and Ziggler have commendable in-ring chemistry and complement each other really well. But their respective entrance themes have molded a certain image in our minds.

Thus, their team looks less like a united force and more like two directionless Superstars coming together. Roode and Ziggler have been heels for very long. They are both talented wrestlers who possess equally good mic-skills.

Now, all they need is a unified identity that bills them as an opportunistic team before they win Tag Team Championships again. This will allow WWE to present a more competitive tag-team division and show that they actually put in an effort in creating the gimmicks that are supposed to entertain fans week after week.

#4 The IIconics

More than a year ago, The IIconics made their main roster debut and quickly established themselves as top heels. But the credibility of their villainous intentions has only dropped since then.

The former NXT Superstars were successful in getting their hands on the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania after beating Bayley and Sasha Banks in a fatal four-way tag team match.

However, they have since lost their titles and struggled to stay relevant. Now that WWE have started focusing a lot more on building the Women’s Tag Team division, it would be almost criminal to ignore this duo.

In the past, WWE had them cut ridiculously long promos upon their entrance but the crowd’s reaction forced them to tone down on this practice.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are promising talents and a revamp of their gimmick may be just the thing that will help them click with the WWE Universe.

#3 Andrade

Andrade is arguably one of the most talented Superstars in WWE today. Ever since his main roster debut, Andrade has been involved in promising feuds against the likes of Rey Mysterio and Rusev. Unfortunately for him, none of those rivalries led to a big push for the Mexican Superstar.

Andrade has a wonderful manager in Zelina Vega who is perfect at her job. She does a brilliant job in building up Andrade but it is not enough to create a convincing character out of a deserving Superstar.

After drafting Andrade to RAW, WWE have the perfect opportunity to rework his gimmick. Even if he continues to portray his current in-ring persona, a new theme song alongside Vega's mic skills will help the creatives draw more attention towards Andrade.

With a fiercer gimmick, Andrade might soon find himself in the title picture. His push towards the top of the roster is inevitable. Hence, it would be wise if WWE act fast and rework certain elements of his gimmick – primarily his theme song.

#2 Ali

Ali is one of the best high-flying Superstars in WWE today. Ever since his debut, Ali has managed to deliver one impressive performance after another.

However, his good-guy image is slowly becoming stale. The main reason behind this monotony in Ali’s gimmick is the presence of other babyfaces on the roster who bear the same skill-sets as him.

Superstars like Ricochet and Cedric Alexander have already established themselves as the crowd-favorites and need equally good, high-flying rivals. In this case, Ali would make for a perfect heel and WWE can construct wonderful storylines around his modified gimmick.

A few weeks ago, Ali teased a darker theme via his social media account. He was seen destroying lights and creating pitch-black space which hinted at a possible heel turn.

But as long as he is going ‘hard’ at his job, he will never be a convincing villain. Hence, the creatives must rework on his character and introduce a darker gimmick which will ultimately help Ali in clawing his way up to the top of the roster.

#1 Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre currently walks out to ‘Gallantry’ as the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ and he is the only Superstar on this list who doesn’t need a new theme song. Instead, he simply needs to go back to his old entrance song i.e. 'Broken Dreams'.

McIntyre is in line for a huge push. He was expected to challenge Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship in an extended feud but The Architect’s feud with The Fiend took precedence.

Once Rollins has dealt with his biggest nightmare, he will return to the Red brand where he will be challenged by McIntyre. The latter has always been billed as someone who is irked by the misuse of main roster talent. Despite being a heel, his words resonate with the crowd when he says that the ‘WWE legends’ need to make way for the new and emerging stars.

There’s also a chance that Rollins will turn heel in the next few weeks which would mean that McIntyre might turn into an anti-hero or a babyface.

Irrespective of his intentions in the upcoming storylines, ‘Broken Dreams’ is the song that best represents McIntyre’s gimmick. It adds a certain depth to his character and establishes himself as someone more than just muscle-power for his allies.
