MMA News: Brock Lesnar's NSAC hearing scheduled for August 23rd, John Cena comments

Lesnar’s future is in Jeopardy

MMA junkie reports that the judgement for Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test has been scheduled later this month. The Nevada State Athletic Commission will hear a temporary suspension request on Brock Lesnar at their next meeting on August 23rd in Las Vegas.

Lesnar tested positive for estrogen blocker clomiphene in an out-of-competition drug test conducted by the US Anti-Doping Agency on June 28th. However, due to a delay in getting the results, he was allowed to compete against one of UFC’s most feared heavyweights, Mark Hunt. After getting a milestone win against Hunt, he later failed a second drug test for the same substance. As a first-time offender, Lesnar could be banned from UFC competition until 2018, plus additional sanctions from the NSAC.

The temporary suspension request will be heard, less than two weeks away from now, and two days after he’s set to compete at SummerSlam against Randy Orton. It seems the commission will hear a request from the Lesnar camp to extend the current temporary suspension.

WWE has stated earlier that Lesnar will not be facing any disciplinary action, as he is not a full-time employee. Superstar John Cena predicted a “long, hard road ahead” for his colleague Brock Lesnar.

“Anytime something like that comes out, anytime, it certainly affects your perception of the event,” John Cena told ESPN, referring to Lesnar's USADA violations. “There’s no way that people aren’t going to perceive Brock Lesnar differently. And when something like this happens, you set a long, hard road ahead of you. And Brock’s got a long, hard road ahead of him.”

Reports suggest WWE won’t suspend the highly rated star, who is drawing large viewership on the rare occasions he makes an appearance. The failed drug tests will also result in a fine, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission could issue a fine worth 50 percent, or even 75 percent according to Okamoto.
