CM Punk reveals that The Shield was his idea originally

CM Punk sat down with his long term friend and fellow wrestler Colt Cabana this week to talk about why he left the WWE and came out with some pretty interesting revelations. The Straight edge Superstar took a great amount of shots against Vince McMahon and how WWE is run in the backstage.

One of the other biggest take away from the interview was: Shield was CM Punk’s Idea. WWE wanted to have a stable with Daniel Bryan, Big Show, CM Punk and one guy from NXT, but Punk came up with the idea of Shield.

He actually wanted Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Chris Hero to form the stable but Triple H shot down Hero and added Roman Reigns into the mix. Triple H then went out saying that the Shield was his idea. Punk was legitimately pissed off by the company’s nature of taking someone else’s idea and branding it as their own and this was one of the reasons why he walked out of the company in the first place.
