WWE conducts a host of pay-per-views every year, amongst which WrestleMania is the grandest of them all. Taking place in the months of March or April, WrestleMania is undoubtedly the greatest creation of Vince McMahon's company.

Every year, a lot of cities try to get the hosting rights of WrestleMania as the event generates a ton of revenue via travel and tours. The entire WWE Universe gathers at one place to witness the biggest event in WWE history. The first WrestleMania took place in the year 1985 and the upcoming edition of WrestleMania will be the 35th in the series.

Each and every WWE superstar who steps foot inside the ring dreams of main eventing WrestleMania at least once in his career. While some were unlucky to miss out on the coveted spot, some managed to headline multiple WrestleManias. In this article, we will have a look at all the WrestleMania main event winners and where they are now.

#1 Hulk Hogan - WrestleMania I, II, III, V, VII, and VIII (DQ)

The Hulkster featured in the main event of multiple WrestleManias and he emerged victorious in 6 WrestleMania main events. While a lot of superstars find it difficult to make it to the match card of 6 WrestleManias, Hulk Hogan managed to win 6 WrestleMania main events in his career.

He defeated Rowdy Piper and Paul Orndoff (tag team match, WrestleMania I), King Kong Bundy (WrestleMania II), Andre the Giant (WrestleMania III), Macho Man Randy Savage (WrestleMania V), Sgt. Slaughter (WrestleMania VII) and Sid Justice (via DQ , WrestleMania VIII) to complete an envious record of 6 WrestleMania main event wins.

Currently, Hogan is still connected to WWE and his last appearance was on the RAW episode dated 7th January 2019, where he commemorated the death of 'Mean' Gene Okerlund.

#2 Mr. T - WrestleMania I

To imagine a tag team match main event a WrestleMania today is impossible, but back then in 1985, a tag team match closed the Show of Shows. Hulk Hogan teamed up with Mr. T to take on the team of Rowdy Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff in the first main event of WrestleMania history.

Mr. T (real name - Laurence Tureaud) and Hulk Hogan won the match to become the first two men to win a WrestleMania main event match.

Mr. T never wrestled in a WrestleMania main event after that. He was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014. Mr. T was also a part of the famous TV show 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 24 in 2017.

#3 Macho Man Randy Savage - WrestleMania IV

Having one of the most muscular physiques, Macho Man Randy Savage took part in the main event of the 4th edition of WrestleMania. He collided with Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase in a singles match in what was the final of the WWF Championship tournament.

Macho Man Randy Savage defeated the Million Dollar Man to win the WWF Championship at WrestleMania IV. Mr. Madness even main evented the next WrestleMania with Hulk Hogan in a match billed as "The Mega Powers Explode". But, Randy Savage could not win the bout as the Hulkster walked out as the WWF Champion.

Macho Man died in the year 2011 due to a heart disease and he was posthumously inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.

#4 Ultimate Warrior - WrestleMania VI

WrestleMania VI was main evented by a Champion vs Champion match where the WWF World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan locked horns with the WWF Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior. This event took place in Ontario, Canada and the main event was labelled as the "The Ultimate Challenge".

Both the titles were on the line in this match-up which saw the Ultimate Warrior win his first ever WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

The Ultimate Warrior died in 2014 at the age of 54, however, his wife, Dana Warrior has been active in WWE's activities outside the ring. The Ultimate Warrior had been inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in April, 2014 just months before his death.

WWE introduced the 'Warrior Award' in 2015 in the name of the The Ultimate Warrior, where the company honors the real life warriors during the traditional Hall of Fame ceremony.

#5 Yokozuna - WrestleMania IX

Yokozuna was the first WWE superstar to earn a title shot at WrestleMania after winning the Royal Rumble match. He won the 1993 Royal Rumble match to progress to the main event of WrestleMania and challenge Bret Hart for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

Though Yokozuna was a Samoan, he was portrayed as a Japanese character on TV. He was built as an unstoppable force heading into WrestleMania IX and the giant used his brute force to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

7 years later, he died due to a disease named "Pulmonary Edema” (A lung disease). WWE inducted him in the Hall of Fame in 2012.

#6 Bret Hart - WrestleMania X

Bret Hart had won the 1994 Royal Rumble match controversially when his and Lex Luger's feet hit the floor at the same time. Both the superstars challenged the WWF World Heavyweight Champion Yokozuna at WrestleMania X. It was Lex Luger who first got the chance to pin the champion but he disqualified himself by pushing the referee.

The Hitman then battled Yokozuna for the title and defeated the giant to capture the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

Bret Hart emerged as one of the most successful superstars of the Hart Family. After retiring from in-ring competition, he successfully defeated cancer in 2016 and currently works to raise funds for cancer patients.

#7 Lawrence Taylor - WrestleMania XI

The Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels had won the 1995 Royal Rumble match, but, it was the match between NFL Linebacker Lawrence Taylor and Bam Bam Bigelow which headlined the show, owing to the confrontation the two men had at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

The football player received a mega-push from WWF as he successfully defeated a professional wrestler in the main event of the grandest pay-per-view.

Nicknamed L.T, Lawrence is a 2-time Super Bowl champion. Currently, he is 60 and thus is no longer active in the world of sports. The WrestleMania XI main event winner has had a lot of personal problems in life but now, Taylor lives peacefully in Pembroke Pines, Florida with his third wife.

#8 Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania XII

Shawn Michaels won the 1996 Royal Rumble match to become the 2nd superstar to win 2 consecutive Rumble matches. Though he did not get an opportunity to main event after winning the Royal Rumble in 1995, Michaels made sure he got his main event spot next year.

The Heart Break Kid defeated Bret 'The Hitman' Hart in a 60-minute Iron Man match to emerge as the new WWF World Heavyweight Champion.

Michaels had retired from in-ring competition after his defeat to the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI, however, he came out of his retirement last year at WWE Crown Jewel. His last appearance on WWE TV was during Ric Flair's 70th birthday party celebration which was gatecrashed by the Animal, Batista.

#9 The Undertaker - WrestleMania XIII, XXVI, and WrestleMania XXIV

The Undertaker is the biggest and the most mysterious character in WWE history. The Deadman has created several records in his iconic career with his WrestleMania streak of 21 victories being the supreme one.

The Undertaker main evented WrestleMania for the first time in the year 1997, where he defeated Sid Justice in a no disqualification match for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship thanks to interference from Bret Hart.

The Phenom then claimed the soul of Shawn Michaels in the headlining match of WrestleMania XXVI. The Deadman ended Michaels' glorious career by defeating him in a Career vs Streak match.

Next, he got a chance to headline WrestleMania in 2008. The Phenom squared off against the Rated-R superstar, Edge for the coveted WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Undertaker emerged victorious in that match as well.

He last headlined WrestleMania in 2017, but he suffered a defeat at the hands of Roman Reigns in a No Holds Barred match.

Currently, the Undertaker is on the brink of retirement and the rumors that he may not appear at WrestleMania 35 just solidify the above statement.

#10 Stone Cold Steve Austin - WrestleMania XIV, XV, and XVII

The biggest babyface in WWE history, Stone Cold Steve Austin had walked out of 3 WrestleMania main events as the winner.

Stone Cold Steve Austin entered WrestleMania XIV as the winner of the Royal Rumble match to challenge the WWF World Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels in the main event. Professional boxer Mike Tyson was also involved in the mix as a ring enforcer and ultimately helped Austin win his first World Heavyweight Championship.

Next year, Stone Cold faced the Rock in the main event of WrestleMania for the WWF Championship. This was a no disqualification match with Mankind as the special guest referee. The Texas Rattlesnake defeated the Brahma Bull to win the title once again.

The two superstars collided next in the main event of WrestleMania XVII and Steve Austin walked out as the new champion this time as well.

Steve Austin is presently with the WWE as well and he last appeared on the RAW 25 episode. He also runs a podcast titled "The Steve Austin Show”.

#11 Triple H - WrestleMania XVI, XVIII, and XXV

The Game Triple H has been the key reason behind WWE's modern-day success. His creativity has taken the product to the next level. But back then in the 1990s and 2000s, Triple H had taken WWE to the next level with his physicality and in-ring technicalities.

The King of Kings has 3 WrestleMania main event victories to his name, the first of which came in a fatal 4-way elimination match for the WWF Championship also involving the Rock, Big Show and Mick Foley. HHH successfully retained his title after entering the match as the champion.

He next won the main event of WrestleMania XVIII where he overcame Chris Jericho in a singles match for the Undisputed WWF Championship. The Cerebral Assassin also won the closing match of WrestleMania XXV, defeating the Viper, Randy Orton to retain his WWE Championship.

Triple H is still active inside the ring and he will compete against Batista at the upcoming edition of WrestleMania.

Brock Lesnar received a mega-push from Vince McMahon ever since he stepped foot in the squared circle. Lesnar has been McMahon's go-to man in the WrestleMania season which is the main reason why the Beast Incarnate has been so successful at the grandest show.

Lesnar main evented WrestleMania for the first time in 2003 where he conquered Kurt Angle in a singles match for the WWE Championship.

15 years later, he featured in the main event of WrestleMania once again, where he crushed the Big Dog, Roman Reigns to keep hold of his coveted Universal Championship. He had even participated in the closing match of WrestleMania 31 but Seth Rollins pulled off the heist of the century that night to end Lesnar's WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign.

Brock Lesnar is the reigning Universal Champion in the WWE and the Conqueror will face Seth Rollins next in what could be his 2nd consecutive WrestleMania main event match.

#13 Chris Benoit - WrestleMania XX

Benoit became the first man to win a WrestleMania main event by submission when he tapped Triple H out to capture the title.

The Canadian wrestler committed suicide in 2007, two days after he murdered his wife and a day after he murdered his son. John Cena has main evented WrestleMania 5 times and has walked out as the winner on 3 occasions. His first WrestleMania main event victory came against Triple H in a WWE Championship match. This was the first time that John Cena featured in the closing match of the Show of Shows.

The Leader of Cenation next battled Triple H's best friend, Shawn Michaels, in the headliner of WrestleMania XXIII, and defeated the Heart Break Kid via submission to retain his WWE Championship.

After a gap of 3 years, Cena returned to the main event of WrestleMania to face off against the WWE Champion the Miz in a singles match. The Miz had the company of Alex Riley at ringside but it was the unexpected interference of The Rock that helped the A-Lister retain the title. John Cena and the Rock stole the show at the next 2 WrestleManias where both the superstars traded victories in the main events of WrestleMania XXVIII and XXIX.

Though he is still a part of WWE, Cena has transformed into a part-timer of late who shows up only at the big events.

However, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson made a surprise interference to stop John Cena from winning the title. And in a shocker, the Miz retained the WWE Championship.

The Brahma Bull then captured the coveted WWE Championship on the Road to WrestleMania and locked horns with Cena in the main event. Though the Rock won the match at WrestleMania 28, the two superstars clashed once again next year in a title match which saw John Cena's hand being raised in the end.

The Rock was expected to make his in-ring return at Royal Rumble 2019 but WWE changed the plans due to his hectic Hollywood schedule.

Bryan then defeated the champion Randy Orton and the Royal Rumble match winner, Batista in the same match to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. This storyline was one of the most memorable ones of all time and Daniel Bryan rightly played his role as the underdog.

Bryan is currently the WWE Champion of the company and he will likely defend his title against Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35.

He became the Mr. Money in the Bank of 2014 and then Rollins chose the perfect moment to cash it in when he ran down the ramp of WrestleMania 31 to pull off the heist of the century. Seth Rollins is the only superstar to cash in his MITB contract in the main event of WrestleMania and he walked out of the arena as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion that night.

Come WrestleMania 35, Seth Rollins has reunited with his brothers and the Kingslayer is now set to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.

He then defeated the Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania 33 in order to hand the legend his 2nd WrestleMania defeat. Again, this was billed as one of the worst WrestleMania matches of Undertaker's career.

The Big Dog lost in the main event of WrestleMania 34 to Brock Lesnar but at WrestleMania 35, he is rumored to help his brother Seth Rollins defeat the Beast Incarnate in the Universal Championship match.
