What's the story?

On Monday Night Raw it was announced that Brock Lesnar had re-signed with the WWE and would be defending the Universal Title against Roman Reigns inside a steel cage at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. Now PWInsider.com has also confirmed that Lesnar's advocate Paul Heyman has also re-signed with the company.

In case you didn't know...

Paul Heyman last appeared at WrestleMania when Brock Lesnar brutalised Roman Reigns in the main event with multiple F-5s and busted 'The Big Dog' open with stiff elbow shots to the head to retain the Universal title.

Before that, on the go-home Monday Night Raw, Heyman announced that if Lesnar loses the title at WrestleMania that it would be the last time we see either Brock Lesnar or himself inside a WWE ring.

The heart of the matter

Following the announcement that Brock Lesnar had signed a new deal with the WWE it has been reported by PWInsider that Paul Heyman and the WWE have also come to terms on a new deal aswell.

However, as one WWE source commented earlier today, if Lesnar was going to sign a new deal, he was going to make sure he had everything he wanted, including Heyman by his side.

Whilst it might seem obvious that Heyman would be there if Brock Lesnar is, it's worth noting that Paul Heyman himself has made it very clear both on television and in real-life that he expected WrestleMania to be his last appearance with the company

What's next?

The details surrounding Brock Lesnar's new deal remain unclear, as do the details surrounding an alleged incident involving Brock Lesnar throwing the Universal title near Vince McMahon backstage.

It seems, as has often been the case, the circumstances surrounding Brock Lesnar in the WWE are completely up in the air.

Author's take

I am glad that Heyman will still be around in the WWE though, he is a phenomenal talent on the microphone and makes any storyline he is part of better simply by being there.

It's a shame that there doesn't seem to be anything for him to stay for if Lesnar were to eventually leave.
