From the WWE Rumor Mill: Update on Paul Heyman's WWE Future after Brock Lesnar's departure

Will Paul Heyman stay or will he leave?
Will Paul Heyman stay or will he leave?

What's the story?

It is no secret that Brock Lesnar will be leaving WWE to compete in the octagon once again. The question remains if Paul Heyman will stay on with WWE or not, following Lesnar's departure.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer weighed in on this topic recently. We thank Cageside Seats for the said update.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 to retain the Universal Championship. He extended his contract following the match and will take on Roman Reigns in a steel cage at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia.

There has been speculation in the past that Paul Heyman, one of the greatest managers of all time, will stay on to work with some talent in the roster. Some names thrown up were Ronda Rousey and Roman Reigns.

This update from Dave Meltzer showcases everything in a brand new light.

The heart of the matter

According to Meltzer, there's a slight possibility that Heyman will stay on to manage some other superstars after Brock Lesnar does leave. However, in all likelihood, Heyman will leave the company when Brock Lesnar leaves as well.

This ties into the fact that Heyman will be working on projects outside wrestling following WrestleMania 34. As we'd reported recently, Heyman will be working on a web series across various platforms very soon indeed. He may just be way too occupied to work with WWE in any capacity at all.

What's next?

For the time being, we wait for The Beast to take on Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Will The Universal Championship change hands in Saudi Arabia? Stranger things have happened in WWE.

Author's take

I'd really like for some other talent to benefit from Paul Heyman's expertise. He could certainly be a great mouthpiece for someone like Asuka.

Meltzer did not sound 100% certain about Heyman's departure, so let's hope for the very best.
