From the WWE Rumour Mill: Samoa Joe returning from injury soon

Samoa Joe faces Roman Reigns at Raw

What's the story?

Wrestling Observer have reported that Samoa Joe is slated to make a return to in-ring action near the end of October. His return will be his first television appearance since post-SummerSlam's Raw.

In case you didn't know...

Samoa Joe was injured in August in the post-Summerslam week, during a match with Cena in a Live Event. He suffered a knee injury in the match and was taken out of action just after one of the best and most hard hitting matches in Summerslam.

The main event between Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar was easily the best match of the night, with many people describing it as a different sort of spot-fest.

It was a hard hitting match and had everything anyone could want from it. On the Raw after Summerslam, he wrestled Roman Reigns and John Cena in a tag match and partnered with the Miz.

The heart of the matter

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Samoa Joe is slated to make a return in the end of October. Raw's TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view would be the perfect place for Joe to make his return.

Just before his injury, the original plan of WWE was a feud between Cena and Joe for No Mercy. With Joe injured they had to change the plans for Cena to face Reigns instead.

If Joe recovers fast enough to return near the end of October, then he will have all the heat in the world. Joe had just built momentum before his injury and was a brilliant believable contender for the Universal Championship.

What's next?

With WWE feverishly trying to get a match between Cena and The Undertaker at Survivor Series, it is unlikely that Joe and Cena will have a feud if that works out.

Instead, Joe may go after Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar in his quest to be the top man in Raw.

Author's take

Samoa Joe is one of the toughest wrestlers currently working for WWE and he won't let the knee injury stop him from picking back his momentum, from where he had left it.

It is likely that very soon after his return he will make the best of the situation that he is handed and continue his domination.
