5 WWE Superstars Triple H needs to wrestle before he retires

Triple H. Some fans love him, others hate him. Regardless of what fans may think of him, The Game is clearly a success, a 14-time World Champion, but now at 50 years old, it won't be long until his career wraps up.

Earlier this year, The Game defeated his old protege Batista in The Animal's last match, and it probably won't be long until it is time for the King of Kings to hang up his boots for good. In his 24 years in WWE, The Cerebral Assassin has faced almost everyone, but there are some who have alluded.

Here are five WWE Superstars Triple H needs to step in the ring with before he retires for good.

#5 Drew McIntyre

At the top of his game (pardon the pun), there was no-one more vicious in the World Wrestling Federation than Triple H. In 2019 though, there are fewer Superstars more willing to dish out punishment than Drew McIntyre, as the former NXT Champion has earned the moniker of the Scottish Psychopath.

We're not sure what the story could be between the two, though the idea of McIntyre wanting to be the one to end The Game (similar to Baron Corbin ending the career of Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35) could draw serious money. In fact, having McIntyre do just that could be the best decision, as though he has been an impressive force since returning to WWE in 2017, McIntyre needs a big win to get into contention for the Universal title, and retiring the King of Kings could be just the win the sinister Scotsman needs to cement his legacy in the WWE.

#4 Pete Dunne

Dunne was chosen to be the face of NXT UK with a lengthy United Kingdom title reign.

Like many on this list, Pete Dunne is a known favorite of The Game, which is why a match between the two would be so interesting. Practically handpicked by The Cerebral Assassin to be the face of NXT UK, Dunne's reign as WWE United Kingdom Champion was epic in its duration, though now he is without the gold, Dunne is without a direction.

Dunne is the kind of tough character that is always going to work well against Triple H, and there doesn’t even need to be much said between the two men. With both men able to provide a hard-hitting style (whether in a singles or stipulation match), their actions in the ring would speak louder than words. It’s a student vs mentor type of dynamic, and that’s all that we need to know.

#3 Bray Wyatt

The Fiend needs to face The Cerebral Assassin in the near future.

When Triple H shockingly captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 2016 Royal Rumble, everyone knew he would be dropping the title to Roman Reigns. That didn't stop the company from teasing a few surprises on the way to WrestleMania 32, and at one instance, it seemed The Game would be taking on Bray Wyatt with the title on the line.

Sadly, nothing came of this, though with The Fiend now a part of Wyatt's persona, we think it’d be cool to see him stalk HHH and spook him ahead of a match between the two. It's hard to fathom how exactly the match would be booked, but given Wyatt's shaky past when he's gone against top stars like John Cena, The Undertaker and Roman Reigns, a win for the Eater of Worlds would be a necessity.

#2 Kevin Owens

The Game helped Kevin Owens become Universal Champion in 2016.
The Game helped Kevin Owens become Universal Champion in 2016.

From the moment Kevin Owens joined WWE, The Prizefighter was closely linked to The Game. Joining the Game's project NXT in late 2014, Owens showed a ruthlessness (even towards his friends), that paralleled Triple H's own rise to the top of the WWE years prior.

Perhaps the biggest connection the pair have is that it was Owens who captured the Universal Championship as a result of HHH betraying Seth Rollins in August 2016. From that point on, it became obvious that a match between the two should take place one day, though the company has had the two keep their distance since then.

That could all change soon though, as Owens’ new Austin-esque persona putting him at odds with The Cerebral Assassin's brother-in-law Shane McMahon, meaning a match between KO and The Game isn't out of the question.

#1 Finn Balor

The Game brought Balor to WWE in 2014.

In the same kind of way as Kevin Owens, Finn Balor always seemed to be one of Triple H’s favorites from his early days of running things down in NXT. Balor is easily one of the most successful NXT Champions in the history of the brand, and HHH can appreciate that.

On the main roster, The Extraordinary Man certainly started off strong, becoming the first Universal Champion, before being forced to vacate the title the next night due to injury. Losing some of his luster since then, having a Demon Vs. The Game feud could be exactly what the Irishman needs to be seen as a contender for the title once again. Of course, there's the risk a feud between the King of Kings and the Demon could be cringy, but if done right, it'd be a work of gold.
