How long will each match be at WrestleMania 34?

WrestleMania 34 poster
How long will each of these superstars get?

11 matches are now official. three more are certainly on the way. The card is stacked, with seven of these matches being potential show stealers. To make the most of an incredible card, putting the matches in the proper order matters. So does the length of each match. Nothing drains energy from a crowd more than letting weaker matches go on for too long.

With a show of around seven hours, there's time to let each match shine by giving it the ideal length. Given the strengths of each match and WWE tropes, we can expect matches of around these lengths.

#1: Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (~15 minutes)

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal WrestleMania 34
It has returned.

WWE's annual match to get everyone on the card has officially returned to the surprise of no one. This match has usually lasted around 10-15 minutes, and with a two-hour pre-show, we can expect it to last on the longer side of things.

It won't lack for action and can charge up the crowd for the night to come, especially if there's a satisfying ending with Rusev winning.

#2: Cruiserweight Championship: Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali (~15 minutes)

Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali
The final.

205 Live has produced WWE's most reliable wrestling since the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament began in January. This week, we learned what the final will look like, with Cedric Alexander taking on Mustafa Ali for the vacant title.

This is the first of seven potential match of the night contenders, so it should get the appropriate amount of time. Last year's Cruiserweight Championship match got about 15 minutes on the pre-show and this will likely be the same, even though it definitely deserves to make the main card.

#3: United States Championship: Randy Orton vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal (~10 minutes)

Randy Orton vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal
Yawn.

One of the night's least exciting matches, WWE should keep it on the shorter side. Randy Orton's presence probably means it will go on longer than it should, but it won't be likely to go a whole lot longer than 10 minutes. That would be for the best. This match will definitely take rather than provide energy, so it needs to be kept appropriately short.

#4: Intercontinental Championship: The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor (~18 minutes)

Intercontinental Title Triple Threat
AWEEEESOMMMEEEE!

THIS match, on the other hand, is...awesome. It's the second potential show-stealer, and it should open the main show and it should get a good length of time to get the crowd hot. 15 to 20 minutes would be the optimal length to tell the story of Rollins and Balor's wrestling skill vs. Miz's underhanded tactics. I'm predicting something in the middle of that.

#5: WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal (~10 minutes)

WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal
Don't remember the old name!

Even with the addition of some NXT superstars, the women's roster is much smaller than the men's so there will be fewer competitors in this battle royal than in the Andre the Giant equivalent. 10 minutes will do what the match needs to do, which is to further the brewing feud between Sasha Banks and Bayley. Look for one of them to be standing tall at the expense of the other.

#6: SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos vs. The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers (~20 minutes)

Usos vs. New Day vs. Bludgeon Brothers
War.

This match is unannounced, but it's coming, and it will likely have a stipulation. The Usos and New Day have had a habit of having 20-minute wars, and if a stipulation is added along with the Bludgeon Brothers, we shouldn't expect anything less. This is the third potential match of the night candidate and might have the highest ceiling of all. It should definitely deliver the most memorable bumps of the night.

#7: Raw Women's Championship: Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax (~5 minutes)

Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax
Mean Girls, WrestleMania style.

As far as work rate potential goes, this match has the lowest ceiling of all. It's therefore imperative that WWE keep it short. Fortunately, there's not much that this match needs to do. The draw of it is to see Nia Jax tear Alexa Bliss apart. That doesn't need to take much more than 5 minutes. Perhaps Mickie James at ringside will allow for some shenanigans, but they shouldn't last too long.

#8: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan (~18 minutes)

Daniel Bryan WrestleMania 34
YES! YES! YES!

The biggest story in wrestling right now is Daniel Bryan's return to the ring. He'll certainly have his first match back tag teaming with Shane McMahon to take revenge on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in an "unsanctioned" match.

This match is the fourth potential match of the night candidate and will be all about Shane getting his butt kicked and getting the crowd hot for Daniel Bryan to come in and start cleaning house. When he does, you'll hear the loudest pops of the night.

#9: Raw Tag Team Championship: Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Braun Strowman and ? (~9 minutes)

Braun Strowman WrestleMania 34
Who will the mystery partner be?

We still don't know who Braun Strowman's mystery partner will be, but this match will nevertheless all be about the spectacle of what the Monster Among Men does. It doesn't need to last too long to tell its story and leave fans with the satisfying sight of Braun Strowman walking out of New Orleans with his first title.

If his partner winds up being Elias, we might get a musical interlude.

#10: SmackDown Women's Championship: Asuka vs. Charlotte (~20 minutes)

Asuka vs. Charlotte
Queen vs. Empress.

This could well be the best women's match in WrestleMania history when all is said and done. Undoubtedly a trial balloon to see if women are ready to main event next year's show, WWE will give it the appropriate length of time for these two to wow the audience. The fifth potential match of the night candidate, it will also bring us some spectacular entrances to create a majestic atmosphere.

#11: John Cena vs. The Undertaker (~16 minutes)

John Cena vs. The Undertaker WrestleMania 34
How good of a spectacle will it be?

The model to use here is The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18. This match won't be about work rate but seeing two icons square off in the ring. 15 minutes is more than enough time to do that and hide Undertaker's weaknesses. Taunts and facial expressions will likely do more than moves in getting this match over. It should last just long enough to satisfy fans while leaving before the work rate weaknesses express themselves.

#12: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (~25 minutes)

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Knee to face?

The sixth potential match of the night candidate and one that fans expect to be the frontrunner for that award, AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura will be given a long time to wrestle a masterpiece that tears New Orleans down. The spots will be intense and fans want the time to see these guys do everything they can. Nakamura's entrance alone will get fans amped up before the bell even rings.

#13: Triple H and Stephanie McMahon vs. Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey (~12 minutes)

Ronda Rousey WrestleMania
This doesn't need too long.

This is one of the weaker matches as far as ring potential goes. Because Stephanie McMahon is not a wrestler and Ronda Rousey is unproven, Triple H and Kurt Angle will have to handle most of it. Triple H's matches are notorious for their slow pace while Kurt Angle's recent performance at Survivor Series left a lot of fans with cringes on their faces.

Fortunately, like the Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax match, it has a built-in draw - to see Ronda Rousey tap Stephanie McMahon out. The match doesn't need to take too long to tell that story. Triple H's entrance could last about half as long as the match itself.

#14: Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns (~22 minutes)

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns WrestleMania 34
FIGHT!

In contrast to the technical WWE title match, this match is going to be a straight up fight. If their WrestleMania 31 match is anything to go by, it will be a good one, and this time, there will be a decisive winner. Expect a lot of hard-hitting offense and finisher kickouts between these two men. The outcome isn't in doubt, but how Roman Reigns gets there is still up in the air. It could take him a while to finally finish The Beast off.
