Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston recently sat down with Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT, and discussed his WWE title loss against Brock Lesnar on the FOX premiere episode of SmackDown Live. Kingston stated that he was disappointed that the match ended so quickly.

Kingston's rise from mid-carder to WWE Champion

The year 2019 will always have a special place in Kingston's heart. After dangling in the mid-card section for around a decade, Kingston finally got a chance to shine on the big stage after his heart-stopping performance in a Gauntlet Match on an episode of SmackDown Live. This resulted in a series of events that led to Kingston defeating Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 to win his first WWE title.

Kingston, contrary to what many had expected, was strongly booked and heavily protected. He rarely lost matches and put down the likes of Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, and Kevin Owens. Kingston met Lesnar on the FOX premiere episode of SmackDown Live, with the WWE title on the line. The match ended in nine seconds, as a thunderous F5 ended Kingston's reign as Champion.

Kingston comments on Lesnar squash

Kingston has now commented on the disappointing loss, and says that it was disheartening to see it all end in such a manner.

"It was a bit of a disappointment to go out there and have it go so quickly on the biggest night of SmackDown. To have it end like that, yeah it was a little bit disheartening, but it is what it is."
