The Hardy Boyz have been absent from the WWE for some time

Following his brother's horrific leg injury, Matt Hardy has rarely been seen on WWE TV. Fans that have been following the former ECW Champion on social media, though, know that he's been teasing a new gimmick for some time.

Well, new in the sense that we haven't seen it in the WWE. Throughout his social media pages, Matt Hardy has been posting videos detailing the difficulties of being one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time.

With that, it seems that the Woken Matt Hardy gimmick has been axed for as Hardy that has become full of himself. Aside from social media, Hardy has been seen working several live events and even partook in the 51-man Battle Royal at Super ShowDown in June.

Hardy returns to the Team Extreme days

On Monday Night RAW, Matt Hardy made his long awaited return to the ring. Coming out in his classic Hardy Boyz gear and their iconic music, he received an incredible pop from the Allstate Arena.

Hardy was the next opponent of the Juggernaut known as Buddy Murphy. He put on an incredible showing against the rising star, but ultimately fell to the former Cruiserweight Champion after three devastating knees to the jaw.

Even with a loss, Hardy's return was a pretty exciting moment and may mean a lot for the former Woken Warrior going forward.
