WWE News: Mickey James has reportedly signed a new multi-year contract with WWE

Mickey James made her return to  WWE against the NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto

As per pwinsider.com, Mickey James has signed a new multi-year deal with WWE. James is expected to join the Smackdown Live roster on her return by January next year. As of now, there is no information regarding how she will be inserted into the current WWE programming and against whom she would be feuding with on her return to the blue brand.

The former five-time WWE Women’s champion made her return to WWE in a supposedly ‘one-off’ appearance against the current NXT Women’s champion Asuka last month at NXT Takeover: Toronto.

Although James lost her fight against Asuka, she looked to be in great in-ring shape and her match was well appreciated by the NXT Universe. She reportedly kept in contact with the WWE officials since her match at NXT Takeover: Toronto and was offered a contract consequently.

The details of her contract are currently unknown.

The legendary diva would be a great addition to the Smackdown Live roster and it would be interesting to see the former Diva’s champion battle it out with the product of the ‘Women’s Revolution’. James was ranked no. 1 in the list of best 50 female wrestlers by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2009.

Her feud with Trish Stratus which culminated with James winning her first Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 22 is still considered to be one of the best women’s feuds in WWE history.

With Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch now currently embroiled in a feud for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, it remains to be seen if Mickey James is straight away inserted into the title picture or, like Nikki Bella, is used to put over younger talent.
