WWE News: Miz's highly-anticipated return to SmackDown Live will happen next week

The Miz returns th
The Miz returns to the blue brand, just not this week...

What's the story?

During this week's edition of SmackDown Live, The Miz revealed that he was not at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island for the second day of the Superstar Shakeup. He was at this home in Hollywood with his wife Maryse and daughter Monroe Sky.

In case you didn't know...

When the WWE did the brand split in 2016, SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and then General Manager Daniel Bryan drafted The Miz and Maryse with their seventh pick of the brand.

The heart of the matter...

As a final request for outgoing SmackDown Live General Manager Bryan, he wanted The Miz to head to the blue brand so he could "punch his face," as he stated on Twitter after the announcement on Monday Night Raw this week.

For those who were hoping that Bryan would punch Miz's face this week, they will have to wait at least seven more days before they are in the same arena.

The excitement behind Miz returning to SmackDown Live stems from an edition of Talking Smack in 2016 when it would follow SmackDown Live every week.

What's next?

With Miz making his return to SmackDown Live next week when the blue brand is at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, it will be interesting to see how fast they escalate the feud that started in 2016 on Talking Smack.

Author's take...

I'm perfectly fine with the WWE making us wait for Bryan to get his hands on The Miz. With Backlash just three weeks away, I think they make us wait even longer than that.

It'll definitely be "best for business" to draw this feud out a lot longer than just a couple of weeks. This is a SummerSlam worthy top-of-the-card main event type match here.
