WWE News: New details on Jim Ross' wife Jan Ross' accident

New details on Jan Ross' accident have emerged.

Jan Ross passed away due to a road accident

What’s the story?

WWE Hall of Famer and former WWE commentator Jim Ross’ wife, Jan, was involved in an accident last week that ultimately ended up taking her life.

Early reports suggested that a 17-year-old man was at the wheel of the vehicle that Jan had her accident with, but the complete details were not yet known. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed the latest details from Jan’s accident.

In case you didn’t know...

Jan Ross was riding her Vespa scooter from the gym near her home in Oklahoma when she was hit by the 17-year-old driver and suffered ‘multiple skull fractures’ which required surgery to treat.

Ross noted on Twitter that his wife at one point was being kept alive by life support machines and that the swelling in her brain would have needed to subside if she had any chance at survival.

JR would then take to Twitter to announce that a priest had read Jan her last rites and that she had subsequently passed away.

The heart of the matter:

Here are the new details from Jan Ross’ accident per Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer:

”She was like a block from the garage. It was a hill and I believe she was going down a hill, and the car was going down a hill, didn’t see her, and ran her over.

I believe the 17 year old boy who was doing that, who went to Norman High School, was texting at the time.”

Meltzer would then talk about how the boy was referred to as a good person by his peers and that he would be feeling a lot of guilt for his actions.

What’s next?

This is undoubtedly one of the hardest losses Ross, or anyone can suffer in life. Despite that, Ross has noted on Twitter that he still plans to be in Orlando for the WrestleMania week.

He is currently scheduled to host a couple of RINGSIDE: An Afternoon with Jim Ross & Friends shows next weekend at the Plaza LIVE in Orlando on Saturday and Sunday. This is an extremely strong move from Ross to make a public appearance just days after losing his wife.

Author’s take:

This is a very unfortunate event, and to make it worse a 17-year-old kid is to blame for the ordeal because he was texting while driving.

Ross’ wife has been taken from him too soon, and the young man involved in the accident could be looking at legal trouble in addition to a hefty amount of emotional trauma from what has happened.

For Ross to be able to be present during the WrestleMania week during his time of mourning is certainly very brave of him.
