On the latest episode of NXT, Triple H and Shawn Michaels announced that NXT TakeOver: In Your House will be taking place on June 7, 2020, inside of the WWE Performance Center where all of WWE's major shows are being conducted.
No matches have been confirmed for the show yet, but directions have been teased for superstars like Adam Cole, Charlotte Flair, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, and Tommaso Ciampa.
So, let's have a look at some early predictions for the entire matchcard.
#8 Interim Cruiserweight Championship final: El Hijo Del Fantasma vs. Kushida
As a result of current circumstances, Jordan Devlin has not been able to defend his Cruiserweight Championship due to him being stuck in the United Kingdom. As a result of that, NXT General Manager William Regal announced a tournament to determine an interim Cruiserweight Champion.
This tournament has been a round-robin style tournament in which there were two groups. The wrestler that won each group competed in the finals of the tournament. In Group A, there was NXT Superstar Kushida, the recently released Drake Maverick, former Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese, and the debuting Jake Atlas.
In Group B, there was potential breakout star Isaiah Swerve Scott, the recently signed El Hijo Del Fantasma, Akira Tozawa and 205 Live original, Gentleman Jack Gallagher.
Of these Superstars, the only wrestlers that still have the chance to win the tournament are Kushida, Drake Maverick, and Jack Atlas in Group A, and El Hijo Del Fantasma and Akira Tozawa in Group B.
In Group A, it will likely be Kushida that gets the win as he is long overdue a chance to hold a title in NXT. In Group B, it makes the most sense for El Hijo Del Fantasma to get the win since he is new to NXT, and Akira Tozawa has already had his chance to hold the Cruiserweight Title. Expect these two to bring the house down for the title at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
#7 Karrion Kross (with Scarlett) vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Karrion Kross made his first appearance on NXT several weeks ago when he appeared in a car alongside Scarlett after Johnny Gargano had defeated Tommaso Ciampa in their final match with each other. He would then attack The Blackheart backstage as he was addressing his loss to Johnny Gargano.
After several months of backstage vignettes, he made his in-ring debut alongside Scarlett. The two had a pretty eye-catching entrance, and he then scored an easy victory over Leon Ruff.
WWE seems intent on presenting Karrion Kross as a future star, which is why they teased a feud between him and Tommaso Ciampa.
It is only a matter of time until the former NXT Champion makes his return and confronts the recently debuted Superstar. A match with one of NXT's biggest Superstars of all time would be the perfect way to establish Karrion Kross as a force to be reckoned with, and the match that the two Superstars would have at NXT TakeOver: In Your House would be excellent.
#6 Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor
Finn Balor was supposed to face off with the Velveteen Dream several weeks ago but was left laid out backstage by an unknown person. Finn Balor would then deliver a promo calling out whoever had done that to him before getting into a confrontation with Cameron Grimes. Grimes managed to defeat Balor on the latest edition of NXT after Damian Priest attacked The Prince with his nightstick.
He would continue to beat down Finn Balor after the match and dropped him with the Reckoning on a chair before revealing that it was he who had attacked The Prince on that night. It makes sense for them to face off at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. This could be a great feud to establish Damian Priest as a star on NXT due to Finn Balor's record and his excellent selling ability.
It is unlikely that this is done on a random episode of NXT because this mystery attacker angle is likely to get the spotlight at In Your House.
#5 NXT North American Championship: Keith Lee (c.) vs. Johnny Gargano
Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae have recently turned heel and have rebooted their characters in the process. LeRae interfered in Gargano's Final Beat match with Tommaso Ciampa and helped her husband score the victory over his rival.
Since then, the two have made their intentions clear and have each scored victories over Dominik Dijakovic and Kacy Catanzaro, respectively.
On the latest episode of NXT, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae teased new feuds with another real-life couple on the Black and Gold brand, NXT North American Champion Keith Lee and Mia Yim.
While LeRae vs. Yim seems like a match that would be perfect for an episode of NXT, a dream match between two of NXT's biggest Superstars in Johnny Gargano and Keith Lee over one of the brand's most prestigious championship definitely belongs on a TakeOver event. This would be the perfect rivalry for both Superstars as they can elevate the NXT North American Championship to a whole new level.
#4 Falls Count Anywhere Match: Dakota Kai vs. Tegan Nox
Dakota Kai shockingly turned on her former tag team partner Tegan Nox at NXT TakeOver: WarGames II during the Women's WarGames match. The two would have a match on NXT television several months later that ended with Tegan Nox getting the victory after hitting Dakota Kai with a knee brace behind the back of the referee.
The two would continue their feud in a street fight at NXT TakeOver: Portland that ended with Dakota Kai getting the victory after Raquel Gonzalez interfered in the match. A few weeks later, they competed in a steel cage match that ended with kai getting the win by escaping the cage with help from her new bodyguard.
Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox also encountered each other in the Women's No.1 contender ladder match won by Io Shirai and a tag team match where Shotzi Blackheart teamed with Tegan Nox but they came up short against the duo of Gonzalez and Kai.
The best way for them to settle their rivalry would be in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. By fighting all over the arena, they can unleash all of the animosity that each Superstar has against the other in one final (for now, at least) match.
#3 Submission Match: Matt Riddle vs. Timothy Thatcher
Because Pete Dunne was stuck in the United Kingdom due to current circumstances in the world, he called on Timothy Thatcher to replace him in the BroserWeights and defend the titles alongside Matt Riddle. The two were incredibly different from each other, and Timothy Thatcher was always going to turn on Matt Riddle eventually.
It was surprising how early that happened in their run. They scored a victory over Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish of Undisputed Era in their first title defense. However, they were attacked by Imperium a few weeks ago and defended the titles against them the following week. Imperium managed to get the upset victory after Matt Riddle inadvertently knocked his partner off the apron, Which made Thatcher leave his partner all alone. Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel took advantage of that to get the victory.
After Timothy Thatcher had attacked Matt Riddle backstage, a match was announced between the two of them that ended with The Original Bro getting the victory by countering a submission attempt by Timothy Thatcher.
A furious Thatcher would lock him in his Fujiwara Armbar finishing move after the match showing that this feud is not over.
The best way to settle this rivalry would be a submission match because both Superstars are specialists in the field, and it would be interesting to see the Bro-mission against the Fujiwara Armbar.
#2 NXT Women's Championship: Charlotte Flair (c.) vs. Io Shirai vs. Rhea Ripley
Charlotte Flair surprisingly moved to NXT this year when she won the 2020 Women's Royal Rumble match and chose to challenge Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women's championship. She would then defeat Bianca Belair on an episode of NXT TV before becoming a two-time NXT Women's Champion by defeating the Nightmare for the title at WrestleMania 36.
Since then, Charlotte Flair has had a presence on all three brands and has scored victories over women such as Kayden Carter, Liv Morgan, and Mia Yim. Her first challenger was Io Shirai. The Genius of the Sky had made her return by qualifying for a ladder match by defeating Aliyah before then defeating Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Chelsea Green, Tegan Nox, and Mia Yim to earn a title shot.
Io Shirai took Charlotte Flair to the limit before The Queen attacked her with a kendo stick to get herself disqualified. Before she could do further damage to Io Shirai, Rhea Ripley made her return for the first time since WrestleMania to confront the champion. There will likely be a triple threat match at the latest TakeOver as Charlotte Flair would have just defeated Io Shirai if she was just going to face Rhea Ripley in a rematch. This could be a great match between three of the best superstars in NXT's women's division.
#1 Adam Cole (c.) vs. Dexter Lumis
There have been two occasions in which Dexter Lumis has gotten into an altercation with Undisputed Era. On the first occasion, he took Keith Lee's place in a tag team match alongside The Velveteen Dream against Adam Cole and Roderick Strong of the Undisputed Era. He would then appear once again to attempt to help The Velveteen Dream overcome interference from Undisputed Era in his NXT Championship match against Adam Cole.
Dexter Lumis has scored several victories over the past few months, with the most recent one being against Shane Thorne. He has watched the Velveteen Dream fail to defeat Adam Cole, and now it is his turn. He is set to face Roderick Strong in the near future and after he manages to score the victory, it will most certainly lead to a match between Adam Cole and Dexter Lumis for the NXT Championship in the main event of NXT TakeOver.
