Opinion: Why Wrestlemania 35 Was the Greatest of All Time

As another WrestleMania has come and gone, I came out of this year's Showcase of the Immortals with a completely different feel than I have in years past.

Over the past few years, I have gone in with high hopes and have come out disappointed. This year, however, I went in expecting at least one dud and came out with the show exceeding my expectations. I am here to tell you that this Wrestlemania was the greatest of all time and here's why.

Starting Off Strong

Coming into 'Mania this year there were three big matches, and knowing how WWE works most people, myself included, expected one to be a dud and not go the way most would want it to go.

The one match most expected to be the dud was Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. The Becky Lynch story had been building for months now and with it being the main event you would expect Vince to send the crowd home happy.

Kofi's story was far too strong and real for them to swerve the crowd, that would be a riot waiting to happen.

But Rollins losing to Lesnar wouldn't have at all been surprising and The Architect could rebound from it.

To mine and I'm sure a lot of others' surprise, however, not only did the Universal Title match kick off the main show, which is crazy to think about, but Seth Rollins started the show off strong by capturing the title.

With rumors circulating that Lesnar is preparing to fight Daniel Cormier in the octagon in August, you expected that he would have to lose the title eventually, but not many expected it to be here and in this way, and it was the perfect way to get the show off to a strong start.

Truly Historical Moments

While yes everyone has known officially for the last couple of weeks that the women would main event Wrestlemania for the first time in history, the fact that it was happening was still a big deal.

Becky Lynch's rise has been one of the crazier stories in WWE over the last year, but that's not where the historical moments end, that's only the beginning.

Not only did the women main event, but Kofi Kingston's rise out of nowhere culminated with him becoming the first fully black WWE Champion in history. Having those two moments alone made this Wrestlemania one of the most important ones in history.

No True Duds

Like I mentioned before, in years past there have been matches that you think are amazing Wrestlemania moments waiting to happen just for them to pull the rug out from underneath you.

From Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka losing last year to the Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt fiasco from Wrestlemania 33, there has always seemed to be a few matches that completely take the life out of the crowd.

This year, however, while there were matches I'm sure some would have rather seen gone in a different way, they weren't big enough to completely suck the life out of the crowd. I think the fact that there was a good shock for the opening match helped with this, as the crowd felt like things were going well.

All in all, everything went better than I think a lot of people expected, which made this Wrestlemania a truly special one that most of us will remember forever.

Do you agree? Was this 'Mania the greatest of all time? Was there anything that could have been done better? Let me know what you thought of this year's Showcase of the Immortals.
